In a nutshell, it's a Round Robin that I completed with a friend but since I love the storyline and idea so much, I'm trying to rewrite it without her work and characters so that I'm not stealing her work.

Hyena: Very true. I suppose it depends on what kind of writer you are, too. I'm entirely a character writer. My characters drive my stories. Some people are plot writers, though, and the characters are just people who act out the plots.

Seito: Oh, that's cool. What's it about?

Seito 06-03-2010 12:37 AM

Well if you wanna read the whole storyline, here it is. xD Basically though, 2 countries have been on the outbreak of war for years now. Some characters are thinking of defeating, others trying to prevent this war, one wants to rule over all, another is betraying friends left and right.

Hyena you too since I don't think I ever showed you the link. xD

I'm the former. My stories are completely character-driven. I have a vague idea of what I want to happen, but getting there is a journey for me.

Seito: Will read when I don't have a screaming cardinal in my ear. Its disrupting a lot of my cognition.

Allan 06-03-2010 12:39 AM

Hyena: Same here.

Seito: Sounds cool. I'll check it out.

Seito 06-03-2010 12:40 AM

I think... I'm a plot driven? When you ask me, I can tell you the whole entire story, but I can't tell you much about my characters aside from whatever back story I've written. Occasionally I have more details like name, hair color, eye color, some dislikes and likes, but other times I don't even have that much... xD

Sure tell me what you think after you're done. xD

Allan 06-03-2010 12:45 AM

There are certainly advantages to both writing styles.

I don't tend to do all that much on descriptions. I like to just mention one or two physical details, but have most of the physical description be more personality based.

Like, here are some examples.

Quote:

I’m not gorgeous by any means, but I’m skinny with good features, and I get along with people if I put forth the effort. Ford… Well, Ford’s Ford. He has a thin, almost feminine beauty that the girls go gaga over. His hair, naturally blonde, is never the same color two months in a row, and his eyes look straight at you so rarely that, when they actually do, it makes your heart stop.
Quote:

He had been beautiful once. Traces of that holy radiance were still etched into his features. Now, though, he looked distorted, like a reflection in moving water. It’s not that he was ugly, but he looked wrong. Incomplete.

His wings weren’t actually black, but dark—like the sun no longer shone on them. They were mangy, with large tufts of feathers missing and more falling out as he moved. I wondered if the feathers grew back or if someday he’d have no wings at all.

Seito 06-03-2010 12:47 AM

Yeah. I write a slightly similar way to that. =D I'm not one to go pouring paragraphs over one character. I rather do it bit by bit.

Allan 06-03-2010 12:50 AM

I just think nobody really cares what color a character's eyes are. XD I try to stick to only physical descriptions that are relevant beyond just what the character looks like.

Seito 06-03-2010 12:54 AM

xD I like eye color. Sometimes I draw my characters could, but I'm not much an artists so stuff like eye color is important. To me at least.

Hyena 06-03-2010 01:44 AM

I'd rather describe someone as I go, y'know? What's relevant about someone will become relevant once they realize it. Yes?

I just spent about an hour trying to convince someone that their life didn't suck as bad as they thought and that there were tons of options they had. Gods, being an optimist is hard...

Allan 06-03-2010 01:47 AM

Seito: Oh, it certainly matter when drawing, but in writing I like to leave plenty of room for imagination.

Hyena 06-03-2010 01:49 AM

I like my descriptions to be... less than flattering. xD

Even my 'pretty' characters are kinda ugly. >>

Seito 06-03-2010 02:04 AM

Yeah I have a whole story to describe a character. Why waste my time explaining it in one paragraph? xD

Hyena 06-03-2010 02:09 AM

Brilliant way of putting it. xD

Seito 06-03-2010 02:13 AM

I should get started writing... xDD

Swordtear 06-03-2010 10:10 AM

Wooo...Seito is so...bright and yellow! <333 *3*

*feeds the chicks*

Hyena 06-03-2010 03:23 PM

Mene stopped working for awhile. o_o

Read part of the RR story. I like the implementation of Tarot.

Seito 06-04-2010 03:59 AM

I love being bright and yellow. xDD

@hyena thank you. xD I worked out some of my problems with my friend. I should be able to start rewriting it soon. <3

Hyena 06-04-2010 04:00 AM

Good good.

By the way: never mix Valerian and caffeine. o_o

Seito 06-04-2010 04:01 AM

What's valerian?

Hyena 06-04-2010 04:02 AM

A plant whose root is used as a sedative to treat insomnia and anxiety.

Seito 06-04-2010 04:04 AM

Ah yeah... that doesn't sound like a good combination. o.o

Hyena 06-04-2010 04:08 AM

I woke up because I was trying to catch a butterfly and realized that I was standing on the bed. According to Liz, I said a combination of nonsense syllables with such diction that it should have been a sentence.

Seito 06-04-2010 04:10 AM

O.O! You didn't hurt yourself though right?
