I buy everything but food from cons because I can find them elsewhere. I mainly buy the things from Artists' Alley because my mother refuses to let me buy online.

Also about the convention rape: I say that it`s ridiculous (now I`m not trying to bash your friend) but were they intoxicated? ; A;
Because this year, one of the people I went with got drunk and was stumbling around everywhere and sorta showed everyone cleavage..... and I swears! They would have gotten raped if not for our demanding her hold our hands everywhere she went.

Depends on how early. I know that the con I do, it's like 15 if you reg like the moment pre opens and normal is like 35 or something like that. Smaller con, and most of the guests come just to come, we've only paid for a few

Last year, other than food, I bought 2 phone charms and wooden cat ears for my friend cause his cosplay needed them xD

No, she's was underage[though that usually doesn't matter, but she was marked as my responsibility and my godfather was head of security so there would've been SERIOUS trouble] and she's a good girl. And in the 30 minutes that I didn't have my eye on her it happened. But this was the largest con in our area and that hotel connects to two others and there was also some big basketball game going on and apparently some big business thing too. [yeah, that year was INSANE]
