@Thar: Well, you don't really need rhyme to be a good musician. And from past experience, sometimes rhythm is optional as well.

Winter Wind 05-27-2010 11:32 PM

I'm a decent musician, and I can't write poems at all! xD
And I suck with rhymes.

LadyKnightSkye 05-27-2010 11:36 PM

@ Winter Wind: I maintain that you can write songs without rhyme. The Germans did it all the time.

Funny story, a vocalist friend of mine forgot the words to her German song during one of her juries and actually completely made up stuff until the end of the song, and they passed her. Apparently all you have to do is sound like the Swedish Chef.

TharThresch 05-27-2010 11:39 PM

Lady Skye~ Hehe. I think it was a test of her German knowledge. Maybe she should takes some classes? It might help. [and I realize how cruel that sound. I'm sorry if it offends.] Being a learner of the German language I would have to agree with your statement about the Swedish Chef.

Winter Wind 05-27-2010 11:45 PM

Speaking of German, my IB Music exam had German LATIN music.
I completely missed the question. =/
I could tell it was German, but like...I couldn't identify the piano and rhythm stuff. I just called it "Dancey", haha.

LadyKnightSkye 05-27-2010 11:52 PM

@ Thar: Vocalists are actually required to take one year of Italian, French, and German. Unfortuately, my friend won't begin learning German until next year. Be that as it may, sometimes nerves can make you forget lyrics you have down cold. I took Voice this year, and on my final jury I totally forgot the first verse of "Scarbourough Fair", even though I already knew it by heart before I took the class!

@Winter: The college's German professor showed us all a German music video from the eighties I think were the German singer was singing about Mexico . . . It was hilarious.

Winter Wind 05-27-2010 11:58 PM

o-o"
So weird! xD

I never imagined German and Latin could fuse together...
Should've checked out more German music before I took my exam. xD

TharThresch 05-28-2010 12:01 AM

German is actually set up like Latin. :D Where as the words are like building blocks. I'll give you an example: "stehen" means to stand. "Verstehen" means to understand. and "Sich Verstehen" means to have an understanding with someone.

LadyKnightSkye 05-28-2010 12:04 AM

@Thar: I think me'n'Winter Wind are actually talking about Latin as in Hispanic-Latin, not Latin the language. But I did not realize that German was constructed like Latin. Our Music History professor is German, and he's explained some German to us, but not a lot.

And he has mentioned how "squirrel" is a problem word in many languages. XD

TharThresch 05-28-2010 12:07 AM

 Well I feel quite idiotic. but no worries. I was glad to have given you that German lesson even if it was in the wrong context

Ah, Squirrel. such an interesting word. And at that word, I must take my leave. I bid farewell to you lovely ladies, it was a pleasure chatting with you. (and also with you Poet, if you get online to read this. and yes, if need be excuse me for calling you a lady.)

LadyKnightSkye 05-28-2010 12:09 AM

Pleasure talking to you too Thar. And no worries, I've made even more embarrasing mistakes. ^^

poet`s playground 05-28-2010 10:57 AM

Hullo. *yawwwns*

Angelic.Demon 05-28-2010 11:37 AM

Morning everyone! I woke up later for school than normal.. oops xD

poet`s playground 05-28-2010 02:51 PM

Yeah last night I went to sleep intending to take a nap before my friend came online and then... I ended up sleeping through the night. Oops.

TharThresch 05-28-2010 11:28 PM

~sneaks into the thread and dances~

LadyKnightSkye 05-28-2010 11:29 PM

Ellos all! How're we all this lovely evening?

TharThresch 05-28-2010 11:35 PM

I am doing wonderfully, and yourself?

Angelic.Demon 05-29-2010 01:59 AM

Hello everyone, how are you?

I'm very happy, as i just went to the movies and saw Iron Man 2 :]

LadyKnightSkye 05-29-2010 02:01 AM

Ooo, Iron Man 2? I went and saw it a couple weeks ago. How did you like it?

Angelic.Demon 05-29-2010 02:01 AM

It was pretty good, a bit too much hollywood but whatever :P

I was happy thought cause i got to see my boyfriend :]

LadyKnightSkye 05-29-2010 02:05 AM

*nods* I enjoyed it mostly because I like the character of Tony Stark, so I liked seeing how he developed through this movie.

And to answer your earlier question, I'm okay.

poet`s playground 05-29-2010 02:16 AM

Haha, I have not seen it yet, I can wait until it comes out on DVD.

Angelic.Demon 05-29-2010 06:35 PM

I thought it was pretty interesting, but something about the best friend of Stark scared me haha. He looks and sounds so much like the principal at my high school haha

Kaema 05-30-2010 12:44 AM

Hello everyone! Can I come in? : D
I saw Iron Man 2 yesterday. It was pretty good; better than I thought it would be! :)

poet`s playground 05-30-2010 12:54 AM

My parents will probably see it if it goes to the $1.50 show or on netflix.
