I think everyone loves a fairy tale, and I'm sure most of you have played this game at some point. (And as always, if this isn't allowed in the forum, please tell me and I'll delete it immediately). The way the game works is that someone (me) starts a story and each person adds to it in the next response. Anyone is allowed to join in and contribute to the story, though it might get harder to pop in as the story gets longer. The idea is to combine the storytelling abilities of many to create an interesting story with plenty of unforeseen twists!

So here are the RULES:

1. Make a post claiming a part of the story- "I'll go next!" so people don't write out a whole chunk of story only to find out that someone else got to it first. Then you can edit your post to include the next bit of story.

2. Include new characters! Make people travel, give them sidequests, kill someone off (though we hope you don't do so without good reason) make villains, make it FUN.

3. Because it is a fairy tale, I encourage you to make it as trope-like as possible. This means knights, princesses, kings, queens, evil stepmothers, witches, trolls, quests, giants, magic and spells, curses, daring rescues, action, adventure, romance! All that jazz and more.

4. Don't write more than about 10 sentences so others can join in too.

5. FEEL FREE TO SABOTAGE THE DIRECTION OTHER WRITERS MAY BE TAKING THE STORY. In fact, this is highly encouraged.

6. Chatting in between story posts is okay, but try to keep the story going!

I've never tried this before, so I don't know how orderly it'll be, but let's give it a shot!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Once Upon a Time, in a far away kingdom, there lived a brave and handsome prince (because by fairytale rule, all princes must be brave and handsome). Our prince spent his days in the castle, doing princely things such as swordsmanship, archery, riding, etiquette, politics, and signing papers. But one day, he overheard an audience with his father the king and an old peasant. The peasant told the king of bandits that had overthrown his kingdom and his narrow escape. He beseeched the king to send soldiers to their aid, and especially begged them to rescue his kingdom's beloved princess, but the king refused because the peasant's kingdom was not an ally.

Moved by the man's devotion to his kingdom and angered by his fathers inaction, the prince sought the old man out on his own after the meeting. He told the man that he would take a small band of his most faithful nights after nightfall to aid the man's kingdom. They would gather forces along the way and drive out the bandits, hopefully earning a new ally in so doing. So that night, the prince gathered his most trusted knights, his closes companions, and made Westward. They would take back the overthrown kingdom, no matter the cost.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

ALRIGHT. So what happens next? Who do they meet along the way? Do they run into giants, ogres, unicorns, enchanted forests, PUPPIES? What are the trusted knights like? Do you feel like naming our heroes? GO AHEAD. Let the story unfold.....
