yup you don't see them that way often in English that's why I asked if it was Gaelic. XD Though that's the Shortened Saxonised form of it. The saying was longer than that. I forget exactly what though. *bad student ish bad*

Maybe Latin based, but we have so many different words that came from other languages. Greek, German, Spanish, etc...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the english language's structure and early influences came from local germanic and saxon dialects (old english?) and influenced by latin and old norse. That's where the "structure" of the language comes from. But proper spelling and proper struction is quite new, the rules are quite new.
