Vodka is an alcohol usually made from potatoes. It's clear and potent and mixes well
With other flavors. For example, my drink of choice is usually a vodka pineapple. But the greatest thing about alcohol is that you can cook with it. It brings an unusual flavor to the party and as you cook, most of the alcohol gets cooked out, leaving you with just the flavors. It's delicious. Bourbon and whiskey are especially good, though I usually cook with wine. Beer bread is easy and quick and fun, if you've got access to a bottle of beer! There's tons you can do with alcohol as an ingredient. |

Sure!
Almost any plant can be fermented and turned into alcohol. Beer is made from wheat! I forget what corn makes. The anise seed makes ouzo, which is a Greek drink that tastes like black licorice. I think tequila is made from a cactus. |

Actually, it is a bit of a myth that most vodka is made of potatoes. Now a day wheat or rye actually make up for much of the content, sometimes all of it. Gin is predominately made from barley, and it's flavor comes from juniper berries.

Well, it is commonly believed to be fact, because years ago potatoes were the cheap and a rather abundant food, thus really were what vodka was made of. It was pretty nasty and pungent stuff, but it was easy to make.
