Not anymore. I worked there for five years. Now, I work at a store called Rainbow. It's women and children's clothing and accessories.

I had so many people that did that with 12 packs. As if the employees don't remember every 12 pack they have to make. General managers, at least at all the ones I worked at, are rarely there, so they just give and give, while those of us who were there all the time knew who was lying. A lot of the time, it was the same exact people saying the same thing, because they knew they could get away with it.

I wouldn't give anyone any money without a receipt. Ever. I left the company as an assistant manager. As a GM, I would have been a hard ass with those types of customers.

Once upon a time, my manager was effective and pretty good at what she does. Over the years, between pushing herself at work and having a not relaxing home life, she's just been whittled down to a stressed out, stressful, not very effective manager. Employee morale is very low these days. And the whole "Just give the terroristic customer what they want" attitude never makes employees feel good, especially after they had to explain why that thing wasn't possible, only for the manager to not back them up.

@Michy - You've escaped! Woot! I keep saying I'll escape and then I don't. I was a manager before, but the lack of support in the management system, ie backstabbing managers, doesn't make me feel like I want to be a manager with them again :P

@Diva - Too true. Cowards.

The last store I worked at was like that. No team spirit among the management. That store went through four general managers in less than a year and a half. The team was falling apart from lack of leadership. A lot of backstabbing, especially toward the end of my time with the company. Too many people want the newest GM to favor them. It was just a mess.

I love it! I shopped there long before I got the job there, and I get along with the whole staff. It's a nice place to work.

I'm way less stressed out now than I was at Taco Hell. And I get to enjoy my life. I don't have to work 50+ hours a week.
