Sure. The arrow is always pointing to the magnetic north. Line north symbol up with the arrow. Most compasses provide an outline of the arrow to help with the matching. You know North and South. Sun rises in the east and sets in the west. You now you know your four directions. :3

Knowing 4 directions is one thing.
But you have to know what is on your north and south to actually use it? XD
For example. You are dropped down from the sky into a deeeeeeeep forest, with a map and compass. You have to know where the road is to use it?
