Actually, your 's was appropriate since that would mean it's a shoe belonging to a ballerina. So it's my bad!
And I've never noticed a problem with your English. I couldn't even tell it wasn't your first language. And I normally can tell when someone speaks English as a second language.

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:16 AM

Me as well Hime, I find your english impeccable.
Where'd you learn to be so good?

shinigamikarasu 02-15-2010 12:17 AM

Hello. Is trivia still going on?

Cherry Who? 02-15-2010 12:18 AM

shinigamikarasu - It hasn't started yet, we're waiting for more players. But if you stick around, then we'll only be waiting for one more person! :)

*Hime* 02-15-2010 12:18 AM

Well technically, English is supposed to be my third language, as we get mainly Dutch and French at school. I think, as most people, I learned a lot by watching television (thank god our shows don't get dubbed! :p)

Hey Shinigama, we're gonna start trivia as soon as more people show up, so stick around! xD

Cherry Who? 02-15-2010 12:19 AM

Wow, you speak three languages, Hime? o: Are you fluent in all of them?
I feel so stupid, I only speak one. I'd really like to learn German, though. It's not a pretty language, but it interests me.

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:19 AM

Oh wow. Hime is multilingual. That's crazy.

Shinigama:. STAY! ... we need people to play with.

shinigamikarasu 02-15-2010 12:20 AM

Yay, I'm not late for once. :D

I've always wanted to learn German as well. We lived there for about three years when my dad was in the military.

Cherry Who? 02-15-2010 12:21 AM

shinigamikarasu - Oh did you? How interesting! How is the country?

*Hime* 02-15-2010 12:21 AM

Well, I speak Dutch fluently, and my French is good, but not as good as it's supposed to be anymore. However, I get forced to speak it a lot when I go to our capital, and I'll manage myself. I also had two years of Spanish at school, but I don't remember a lot of that, we covered only the basics

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:22 AM

I wouldn't like to learn German as much as I would love to learn Dutch ... it's the language my dad was raised with, and I'd love to learn it.

I'd also like to be bilingual in french and english ... but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

*Hime* 02-15-2010 12:23 AM

I wished I was raised bilingual too. The people that are raised that way here, have such an advantage job-wise

shinigamikarasu 02-15-2010 12:23 AM

I don't really remember too much since I was only five when we left, but my mom is always talking about wanting to go back to visit Europe again, so it must have really been amazing.

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:24 AM

@ Hime:. I was supposed to get my final year of French at school but I dropped out to take a Contemporary Issues in Science Course. (<--- which was the best high school course I've ever taken )

Cherry Who? 02-15-2010 12:24 AM

*Hime* - Yeah, schools don't really seem to teach languages very well. My boyfriend's had at least three years of Spanish and he barely understands basic words. And it's not like he's not paying attention or something, they just don't teach anything.

Spoon - French is another interesting language!

shinigami - Ohh, I see. What country do you live in now?

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:26 AM

@ Cherry:. I find the grammar and sentence structure crazy in French, i can read it and get it, but to reply is awful. Oh, and I can pronounce anything, there's way too many silent letters.

shinigamikarasu 02-15-2010 12:27 AM

I took a few years of Latin, but I really don't understand more than a few words. It was mostly translating, anyway. The only reason I took it was because a lot of scientific/medical terms are based on Latin.

I live in the US now. New England to be... sorta exact.

*Hime* 02-15-2010 12:28 AM

True, though my basics did help me when I went on vacation to Spain. At first I couldn't even understand them, they spoke so fast! Not that I now can speak fluently but after one week I did manage myself in Spanish a bit. I guess it's all about practice.

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:28 AM

@ Shini:. Good thing Latin is a dead language. ... even though i'm thinking of taking it in university as an elective, it's the root of every language i've encountered.

Cherry Who? 02-15-2010 12:29 AM

Spoon - Yeah, I can definitely see that.
One of the reasons that I like German is that a lot of English words are derived from German words, so even if you don't know a word of German, you can already understand a few words, they're just spelled a little differently.

Blood Stained H3art 02-15-2010 12:30 AM

Have I missed the Trivia?

Cherry Who? 02-15-2010 12:30 AM

Nope! We were waiting for another person. :)
Wanna play?

Sir.Spoon 02-15-2010 12:30 AM

Nope!
Come join us blood!

and my firefox is messing up ... stupid sister stole my laptop.

shinigamikarasu 02-15-2010 12:31 AM

Yay! More players!

Blood Stained H3art 02-15-2010 12:31 AM

Yes I do! Thanks.
