I wish I could buy a bunch of flowers like what Nalin has. Instead of holding it in one hand by the stem, I'd like a bouquet that could be held in both arms or in the one hand pointing towards the face. those would be great.

I can't take credit for the idea though as it was suggested to me. Heh

I don't know if they're at a discount they seem quite expensive still. I saw some once and my mother said she thought they'd been in a fridge or something. Apparently some people used to do that when she was a florist (about a million years ago, hehe no I'm being rude now only about 25-30 years ago) to make them look fresher for longer but then when you got them home they'd die very quickly. She has a lovely candle I bought her last mother's day that smells like fresh cut roses.

some of the florists here keep certain types of flowers in a fridge. I don't know the rate of dying compared to ones stored out in the fresh air, but, they are there.

The florists still do that today. I worked in a florist for three years, until a year and a half ago. Live plants are about the only flower I saw that wasn't put into a refrigerated display, or stored in a fridge before being used.

My mother seems to disagree with doing that she said she never did it. I got some roses that lasted quite a while a little over a week I think but then I got some others that died within a few days even though I did nothing different with them.

That's exciting! I'm glad to hear you think they'll come up.

I'm thinking about starting a vegetable garden this spring. My boyfriend wants me to grow hops for his new beer brewing hobby. I just think it'll be nice to have fresh organic veggies I don't have to pay a ton for.

That's what I remember, but I also worked in a small time florist, that was family owned. There's only two types of flower, the Lilys and Baby's Breath were the main things I remembered that sat out for any time, but that was mainly so they could open up a bit, before they were put in the fridge.

Baby's Breath is one of the easiest flowers for me to grow.

Mm she had a small one, just her and my Grandmother, it was started by my Great-Grandmother but they closed it a little before I was born.

I just love flowers in general. last year was the first year I actually put flower beds in the front and back of my apartment. I figured since I've lived here for 4 years and don't see myself moving any time soon, dangit I was going to have flower beds!

I think I might like to have a little flower garden, but I hardly have any time, except on the weekends. I just work long hours, and by the time I get home, I'm exhausted, and practically ready to get into bed. XP But, I do enjoy what I do, for the most part. =D

They did some after I was born still. I remember people coming to the house and then watching my Mother and Grandmother making outlines out of wire and wrapping wire around flower stems to attach to the outline they'd made.

I'm not sure I'd be good with flowers.

my mother is awful with flowers. for certain kinds I'm pretty awful too. the trick is to find plants I CAN have without killing right away.

My kitty likes to have a munch on plants as well. I think he gets confused and can't tell the difference between them and his cat nip plant.

my cats like to chew only particular plants. and if the plant hasn't taken off quickly, they'll try to use the dirt as a cat box!

He likes to dig in the dirt but he doesn't do anything in there. He just likes to walk the mud over my light coloured carpet.

He refuses baths as well so his white paws are now grey. He likes to bring me birds and spiders as well. He's a very generous kitty.

Sometimes he makes sure they're dead before releasing them. Not always though, he likes to chase them wounded around while I'm not home.

*yawns* I think it's about time I hit the sack. Goodnight Crazy and Max and Nalin if you're still around. :)

Good night, Clover. =)

My one kitten is a devil. He likes to take the food out of the dispensing bowl, and play with some of it, before he decides if he'll eat it. Which then leaves lots of little pieces for me to see or step on, if I don't see them. DX
