This year is my first year to spend V-day with my boyfriend, but I've asked him not to get me anything. And I truly mean that! I don't want/expect anything..

What about you? Do you expect to get anything from friends/family/loved one? Do you even want a gift? What is acceptable as a gift anyways? Jewelery, chocolates, flowers, a card? Hmmm... I guess chocolates would be okay even after I said no.. After all.. Who can resist that :3?

I've always requested no jewelry, since I have an extensive fine jewelry collection and refuse to wear trashy or costume jewelry. I like chocolates, but I'm picky with the type. I generally just like some tiger lillies (my favorite flowers). I usually spend Valentine's Day with my friends, though. If the boy insists, I'll have a second celebration with him, but my love is always for my girls on V Day. It makes for a hell of a lot less drama.

I want to spend the day with some of my girl friends also, mostly because I 'll have nothing to do after my boyfriend goes to work.
As for jewelry... I love it.. I just tend to loose it. So, I said no more. I get attached to things like that easy and it makes me upset to loose stuff I get from my boyfriend. =P
I'm also picky with my chocolates and I like flowers.. Any kind :D

My boyfriend and I are both gift whores.

TOTAL GIFT WHORES.

If there's a holiday where we can give gifts, you better believe we're going to smother SOMEONE in gifts. Christmas is absolute madness. And now that it's a romantic holiday, we both sort of went crazy with it just because it's something we enjoy so much.

We get to enjoy picking out the gift, giving it to the other and watching them squee, then getting your own gift and squeeing too. xD It's a lot of fun.

Oh I know what you mean! Before we even started dating we both were like that. He was my bestest friend. And still is.. Even when I was with my Ex I spent more money on him. I spent well over a hundred for xmas one year, while i spent 40 for my boyfriend... ha that doesn't say much for my xbf. He was a jerk anyways ;P

I'm actually gathering with all of my single friends and club members on the 14th.
I'm probably going to bring small gifts for everyone. Just hope everyone isn't going out of their way to bring anything. I'm the one who planned everything. I just want everyone to enjoy themselves without bringing chaos. ^_^
I generally do like gifts. But I dislike it when I get something without knowing and then they make me go on this guilt trip because they didn't get me anything. I have my moments of when I want gifts but I never expect anything. As long as people sacrifice their time to hang out with me I'm happy.

Oh that sounds fun! Just hanging out with your friends and not worrying about anything. It's nice for you to do that and bring simple gifts ^.^

It is fun I just hope the boys can behave themselves enough to keep us from getting kicked out of the buffet. XD
A buffet sounds like an odd place to hang out, but it's not. It's actually really fun!

Last year he gave me chocolate coated strawberries that he made and decorated himself.

I don't expect anything. Me and my boyfriend agreed not to spend any money for stupid presents, but just enjoy our time together c:

I don't expect anything. I don't have a boyfriend and my family isn't big into the getting little presents for people when its not their birthday or Christmas.

I do not ever want anything for Valentine's Day. Honestly, I see it more as a Hallmark Holiday and I'd rather not buy into it since I already buy into Christmas.

Half of my friends are single so they all say that it is Single-Awareness-Day! Personally either way its just supposed to be a day that we show love to our love ones.

Yes I agree with that. I think the cultural significance of Valentine's Day is nice. A day set aside to show your loved ones how you care in a special way? Beautiful. I think people sometimes get so wrapped up in other things that they forget to show the one they care about truly how much they care. However, I really don't believe that caring needs to be shown through presents. Heck, just taking time aside and sitting in and watching a movie alone together is enough for me.

Valentines Day really is like that. But it is still fun to celebrate it by spending time with those people you love. Don't need cards, candies, and gifts to make it special right :]
