None directly related to me, no, even if I do have a little of Chinese blood in me. We personally don't celebrate Chinese New Year though, but a lot of people here do. =) <3<3

Is Chinese New Year a public holiday there?

Probably not as public as, say, Christmas or whatever, but people here do respect and honor it when people around them celebrate it. :3 But, as I said earlier, it's not a very BIG big event around here. =)

OH well, this year there is no atmosphere comparing to last year. Only the shopping malls are having red decors around. Dunno what happened.

Last week, the radio station DJ was commenting this year there is a reduction of CNY decoarations on the streets.
Few years ago, whenever there is any celebrations, the government would put decorations on the streets. But now, hardly see the decor...

That is odd. :x Maybe they've cut down the budget for decorations this year? =O <3<3

They often use the same thing decors... they should have the decors in a storeroom of soemwhere... and when it is needed, take out. Just like that. We paid tax.
