The "Miracle on Ice" happened during the Cold War at one of the Winter Olympics. The USA hockey team faced off against the Soviet Union, who was highly favored to win the gold medal. Nobody really took the US team seriously, but they beat the Soviet Union and went on to win the gold medal. That game is actually where the "U-S-A! U-S-A!" chant really become popularized.

oh cool. i'm not a big sports fan and in texas hockey is not really that big of a deal. (we put way too much emphasis on our football, american football not soccer) so never heard of it.
