@ saddie : I respect Romeo and Juliet, but it's not a "WOW!!" one for me. It does hold sentimental value though. XP <3<3

@ Rei Ann : Yeah~ =O Sad. :x Oedipus Rex is another. >.>;; </3

@ Queen : To us modern-day thinkers, it's all about lust, and I agree. But you gotta put it in the context of that time. To them, that was considered love, especially since they had to "make do" with what forced arrangements were given. =\ Sad, but there's truth to that. Modern day ideas of love are ALWAYS gonna class with old ideas of love. ^^;;

I have to agree that I dont see any love between Romeo and Juliet, besides lust. XD; Its tragic that their parents lose their only children ebcause of their own stupid hate and the misunderstanding and the fact their children are so lustful... But otherwise, I have heard more tragic and romantic stories. :/

And I think NOW we think of love and lust as being the same, but not so much back then. Since then there wasnt so much free sex everywhere available.

Truthfully, the ideas of love and lust have not changed from then to now if you look at it. How many romance novels are there now that the people only know each other for a week or not even that long and they know it's love and they are dsetined to be together for ever! Yeah right.
Romeo and Juliet is all about young kids lusting after each other. Love was something that was only know between the lower classes because they could marry for that reason more so then the upper class.
Besides, Romeo had only just be chasing after Rosaline not a day or two prior and he was still reeling over her abject rejection of him right before the party. Right before he spied fair Juliet. So I can't see it as love, more like lust and perhaps more of an infatuation.

How can you say that's now what love was back then, you from this time, you see and think how this time thinks, if you were back then, that could have been love.

Hmm, I see your points. =O Although, I still think it is a love story, even if there is no "real" love there. Perhaps they were in love with the idea of each other instead of actually the people themselves?

If it's love, it would be damn fickle love and who wants to marry on fickle love feelings? One minute your his idea of a good time and the woman meant for him and the next, you're th dumb broad sitting at home while your husband has affairs.

People feelings havent changed. They are still just as much into sex and lust, even more so than back then, and young teenagers were just as curious and got driven by lust back then, just as they do now.

I dont know, I dont think Romeo loves her.
And I dont beleive in love from first sight. Maybe there is such madness, but it depends if it lasts for any time logner than few weeks... :/ There is research that the chemistry that makes you feel in love ends from about 1 year and two months to about four years.
If you havent developed something common, besides lust, with your partner by then, then its a bye bye. Reason why so many "love" marriages get divorced quickly. :/

How do you know it would have been that way, you still thinking as if you had the knowledge we have now. Things were different, times were different, you can say what would happen you weren't there, also Romeo and Juliet, was just a play not something that happened.

I dont think the lustiness of people have changed. XD
Their opinion on free sex have changed, since then you could get strongly punished about it, but the fact people are lusty, has not. We are still on the same level as back then, only have freed our lust "beast" out. Thats only difference.
So, all that Romeo wanted was to have a nice night with Juliet and because of that, he got pink glasses on eyes for a moment. And then, they had no choicce but run away together, because she was not a virgin anymore, and her new husband (or her own father) would have killed her on the wedding night or morning after.

Rei, perhaps this is true, but human nature doesn't change that much over time. We are still basic creatures that want food and to have sex to continue on the species. We as humans are the ones that invented the idea of love and being loved. So how could the concept of that change when most people have an idea of the difference between love and lust, now and then?

Sad, that is so very true about the new husband or father, not being a virgin anymore was a big deal back then.

Okay, maybe we should move onto different subject.
I do think people make too big deal out of Romeo and Juliet, though.
Just like Edward and Bella. @[email protected];

Well she could never marry Paris, since she was already married to Romeo.

Yet why are we still talking about this, we could talk about it till the end of the world, but we aren't gonna change each others mind.

We jsut have different opinions and I accept yours - its nice you beleive in love and all - but I am not going to change mine. x3
I know what love could be, while I have not felt it, and I doubt I would actually fall in love, and thats not what was between them. Pretty words doesnt make it love. :/

Muwahahahahahah! Rei is evil

Well Tristan and Isolde I like cause instead of running off with her, when the King told him to, he went back to save his people, so that they won't be remembered as the people who's love destroy a country. He had honor.
