We haven't had snow like this in a very long time. Now everyone is having the problem of where to put the snow since it's piled so high in parking lots, etc.

Oh, I know how that is...2 years ago they had to start bringing it to other states because we had so much. I was parking on the street that year, and couldn't see to get out of my parking spots due to the snowbanks. It was a rough year for commuting.

They right now in Pittsburgh are putting it in ball fields and parks because they say all the salt and chemicals will contaminate the water in the rivers. Where do they think it's going to go when it melts?

HAHAHA. No kidding, right? Although, by leeching into the ground, there will be less contaminates.

LOL!! Yes, I remember Roo... and the time before that was in '88, I think.

Eternal, I grew up in northern RI; could get to Boston in about 30 minutes...

We are now under another winter weather advisory. 4-6 more inches coming between tomorrow and Tuesday.

I saw that, actually... and some more headed your way toward the end of the week too, if I remember correctly. I know you're sick of it by now, Roo, but I'm looking forward to seeing how my kids react to the white stuff!! I'd like them to witness snow falling from the sky too... not just gathered in big ugly snowbanks all over the ground... *crosses fingers that the kids get a "good" snow experience and it doesn't end up with delayed planes and what-not*

I really hope they do. I had friends up from South Carolina right before Christmas and we got hit with a snowstorm then and the one son's girlfriend had never seen snow let alone was driving in it coming up here. She was more than excited and an adult so it was an experience for her. 4-6 inches is nothing compared to what is here already so I'm not so concerned now.

Never seen snow... from South Carolina? That seems a bit odd to me unless she lives in one of those "pockets" near the shore or something. I'm glad your friend enjoyed the experience!

The kids are excited about the snow. But they're also excited about getting on an airplane and getting to Philly and about stairs and meeting family they've never met before and ....

Yeah she's from a part that doesn't get snow and I believe she's not originally from there so that's another possibility.

I would be excited if I'd never saw snow. I would be happy if this was snowman making snow but with as much as we have it's not possible right now.

Yeah... I'm probably going to try a snowman with my kids anyway, but it is MUCH more difficult to do with so much snow on the ground... but we can't go up there to play in the snow and not at least try to make a snowman!!

If it would just get above freezing, some could melt and it would be awesome

It's not real dry but it's not a good packing snow. It just might be because there is so much of it and it doesn't roll well. It sure felt heavy enough when shoveling though.

Stairs in Philly? Are you looking to run up the Art Museum steps like Rockey? :XD

Any snow -unless it's the lightest of powders- feels heavy when you're shoveling it, Roo! :XD

And not necessarily, Sia... although they'd love that (if it weren't so icy). They're excited about ANY stairs (Florida architecture is not generally known for having stairs).

Those stairs are fun... and always a big draw. They are truly a challenge to run all the way up though... they go on and on and on... and on... or so it seems! The view of the Parkway from there though is worth it!

They are.

If not for the ice, I'd be curious to see whether or not I could do it these days. The last time I tried was several years ago. I'd also be curious to see if the kids could do it!!

There are a lot of them and they are fairly steep, but do-able for most able-bodied people with some time and perhaps a bit of patience.
