So I just got back from shoveling snow for 2 hours - Chris & Tim are still out there working on getting th driveway cleared - I gave up.


Anyway - Happy valentines Day & Chinese New Year!

:XD I like all the different 'holidays' that we're making this into.

I always hated Valentines day- it seemed so forced and even when I wasn't single I wasn't much into the forced mushy crap.

This year Chris & I are going to get together with friends & go out for dim sum and watch the dragon dance in Chinatown :yes:

Any plans?

I'm assuming my boyfriend will be working on valentine's day,
but maybe afterwards we'll go out to eat somewhere and enjoy the night.

i was never much into valentine's day,
especially when i was the weird kid the teacher forced other kids to buy valentines for.
and i never understood why ONE day was put aside to say you love someone.

I suppose it is nice to have a day to remind us to appreciate the people in our lives that we care about - but it's so commercialized at this point.

I believe in Roman times this was a festival to celebrate spring - but I could be confused and totally off . . . but I think I remember reading that in one of the Valentines books I've been looking through for story time ideas lately

this is actually the first V-day in 10 years that me and hubby are gonna be able to celebrate together. Since he's a chef usually he has to work and feed all the other couples with his awesome food. I honestly don't know what we're gonna do. At this point in time we're contemplating a movie (Valentine's Day - his choice) dinner (sushi!!!) and dessert (Cold Stone Creamery) with a visit to our fave bartender at our local afterwards.

We wanted to do something new and different for food, but all the places we wanted to go to were charging over $100 a couple for their "special V-day menus"

Never really liked V-day, though I think it's mostly cause I've always been sinlge so there's never really been a purpose for it in my life. This year my friends and I are going to try and throw an anti-v-day party that saturday before. lol

I've never done much for Valentines Day. Just me and my friends sharing a bit of chocolate. It's pointless if your single, but at least the cheap holiday candy is back. :)

Hello purkles! Hope you all are enjoying the event so far :)

Valentine's day... never really cared much for it after Elementary school. Middle school was boring and lame, High school was mostly avoiding everyone who were couples and wishing that I would get chocolate. Now it's more hiding in my room and trying to ignore the day all together. This year, I get to work on Valentine's. What fun.

I had to shovel my parents' driveway before heading into work. :headdesk: not fun, and I had to do it by myself because I get into work early in the a.m. and everyone else hit their snooze alarms. ugh. anywhoo

I haven't been in to Valentine's Day for Years. Probably because I'm a jaded cynic at this point in my life but I have seen some people together that are made for each other.

One year I sent out anti Valentine's Day cards. :)

We tried to make the event easy and fun since some of the feedback we had received said the previous ones were too hard, so hopefully you all will enjoy it.

I think you'll be find Blaze. You've been around here long enough and I'm sure one of us would help you if you got stuck.
