Absolutely. I think it's something like growing up. As little children, we don't often take very much responsibility for keeping our homes clean and running - sure, maybe we tidy a room once in a while (I never did, sorry to say XD ) but as you grow older you start seeing that you need to do these things and that your mess doesn't tidy itself up behind you.
It's just like that - everybody now needs to realize that and take whatever small step they can, nobody can afford not to try. We need to face it, life won't be exterminated - there will still be some bacterial species or roaches and such, it's our own species and everything we hold dear that we're harming in the long run.
