Soren Kierkeergarrd, a Danish philosopher from the 1800s.. From reading the wikipedia article, I think that maybe reading his things would be like watching A Scanner Darkly and similar movies.

He's a philosopher. His books are really complex, but they're really important to how we philosophize about our lives.
