While I'm doing this Valentines event, I'm also watching the Olympics. This thread I guess is where people can come talk about the Olympics and their favorite Olympic events. So come and talk!

I guess I can start it off by telling what my favorite events are..

I love the figure skating, ice dancing, the downhill skiing. The mogul skiing is really cool to watch too. I was on a downhill ski team for years, so the sport actually makes sense to me. And I find figure skating absolutely beautiful to watch.

EDIT:
Is there anyone who wants to talk about this? Dx

I'm surprised noone has posted here...I would think there would be some people who'd want to talk about the olympics.

I felt bad for the girl who won silver in her own homeland.

yeah...that boy Nodar...it's a very sad thing to have happen. He was younger than me which I feel makes it even more tragic. My condolences to his family and friends...especially his parents...Nobody should have to suffer through the death of their child.

I just wish that the other Luge competitors would stop being such jackasses about the fact that they can't go really fast speeds on the track now. It's for their safety for shristsakes...even the more professional competitors crashed during practice...so that tells me that the track isn't safe. So the guys can stop being total assholes about it...and quite frankly, I think they should all be glad that what happened to Nodar didn't happen to them. I think that the crash could have happened to just about any of them, and they could have ended up in Nodar's shoes just as easily.

The althete from Georgia is about my youngest brothers age. Its feel tragic what happened and seeing his fellow teammates faces at the opening ceremony was heart breaking. The other Georgian Luge athlete had dropped out from the competition, It was too much for him. :( I wish things could have turned out better for them.

Some good news is the Chinese figure skaters that came out of retirement may win the gold they've so much sought after! Canada has finally won gold on their own home soil!! It was a close call in the men's downhill too. So whoo hoo!!! :)

I like watching men's short track speed skating. Apolo is so dreamy :) he's about my age too now if only we can meet hee hee hee :)I've also always liked watching all of the figure skating competions. So I was pretty sad that Sasha Cohen wasn't able to come back. She barely didn't qualify too, poor girl :/ Guess I have to find a new favorite.
I like watching the down hill sking too and luge is ok but I think I like watching the bob sledding better.

Yeah that's true.. It's unfortunate that they all feel that way. But it could be their grief coming out in anger and frustration. I think it's better to stay on the safe side after all they've given that track so aweful nicknames. What was it called the track of fear or something like that. Poor Nodar may he rest in peace and his soul be glad that he glad that he made it to the olympics even though he was never able to compete. May god be with his family and friends as well.

I don't think that England has gotten any medals yet. I hope they do though.

@nette: ...that could be true. It still upsets me the way some of them were talking though...there was one guy who was sounded very chauvinistic...
