We've got a nifty new feature now to make it easier to thank the staff if they help you out. Below all staff posts there is now a button saying "Did this post help you?" If you click it the staff will be notified that you appreciate how they helped.

So if a mod helps you out, why not let them know? :)

This is a good way to let staff know they were helpful. Though, I might still just let them know in a thread or via PM if they helped me out.

I saw the button before the announcement, and my initial reaction was me going "AWESOME! \o/"

But.... would it be possible for this feature to be turned on for all users in certain forums? Info Desk, namely. Maybe Fresh Meat as well?

I think Insomniac wants this feature for the staff at the moment because he wants the staff to feel recognized by users in positive ways rather than just hearing from the users when they're cranky about being infracted.

This is a little different than that. All of the staff get to see all the thanks. It's partly to motivate, and partly so we can see what the users appreciate. We may even be able to award staff who get a lot of thanks. Either way, doing the same thing for users would require substantially different functionality.
