Well the fact about the Princess Bride, something I didn't realize until about half a year ago, is that the 'abridged' version is the actual complete version. It's presented as an abridgement by William Goldman of an older tale by an S. Morgenstern, but in truth there is no S. Morgenstern and the novel is not abridged. The entire thing was written by William Goldman, and the rest is pretty much a literary device. Kind of a joke.
It amused me when I learned the truth.
