Lily has almost always been shy, but would try to run out the front door to explore. Otto grins at people and doesn't seem too afraid of strangers just yet. I have some issues about letting kids just wander - makes me nervous too!
Cutting hair should be interesting :) I hope you have a great weekend. Otto woke up and needed some attention, finally got him back to sleep.
I'm qualified to teach history at universities but can't find a job. Also wouldn't mind working in a museum, but they are cutting back on hiring. So, I thought that people always need haircuts, right? Plus, I've worked in salons before taking care of skincare and cosmetics - not hair though. It's something I've wanted to do.
Did it take a while for Christian to adjust to someone else taking care of him when he was little?
I'm not really religious - for me, it's a day to buy candy  and relax. Right now, I'm back in school learning the exciting art of cutting hair. Otto has a mild virus, but seems better. He started staying at a daycare while I'm in school, so he is adjusting to new people and a new place. He likes the people there, so it's been going well.
Thank you! I've been having a lot of problems with the internet - but it looks like it's finally fixed! I hope you have a great holiday as well :) Are you doing anything special?
I understand! Lily is still too little to be more interested in her friends just yet, but that's a part of growing older. In some ways it's nice because you can see that he can take care of himself, but it's hard for you because he's always going to be your child - no matter how old!
Even though Otto's father and I are together, there are times when I realize it just isn't the same. Mark is completely different than Tom was. Sometimes that's good, other times it isn't.
I'm so glad that Christian is feeling better! That must have been frustrating for him to deal with.
The closest thing I can relate to my husband's death is divorce. Both involve a period of healing afterward, and most people who have not been through either of those situations really understand how weird it can be.
Otto is doing a lot better. I spoke with one of his doctor's nurses yesterday, and she told me that his blood test did show that his white blood cell count was a little high - but not unusually high. We go see the doctor again on Friday. He's drooling a lot - his face, neck and shirt are wet and soaked through. Have to change his clothes more often!
Oh! It snowed here on Sunday - first time in a couple of years. Some of the schools were closed. What we consider to be snow is probably nothing compared to what you see!
Wow - it sounds like people are literally getting sick everywhere! I hope Christian feels better soon.
Mark will be ok. I found out today that Otto has a urinary tract infection. They found it in a urine sample, but not his blood sample. Makes me wonder if the test is correct. Anyhow, he's taking medicine and is pretty active.
It was a rough period of time for both of us. I didn't react well to my first husband's death and I doubt that I'll remarry any time soon. Even with having Otto, I'm not sure I want to go through all that again.
Wow - that is rough. Lily was 7 when her father died. So, she was going through a lot of stress and depression. Plus, we were starting to have her looked at by doctors to see if she had autism. She has a mild form of it, called Asperger's Syndrome. Anyhow, I was finishing my college education and decided that I needed to put my academic career on hold until her treatment was more stable. She's doing better now. Her "problems" have more to do with how she acts with other people and not always understanding what is the right way to act around them. She's gotten to know other kids who have autism, and it's funny seeing them all together because they are so similar in how they act around other people!
I think there's a huge difference with how divorce affects kids in contrast to the death of a parent. But, with both, the kids are left wondering what they're missing. It's tough either way.
Otto is better, but Mark was really sick last night. Lily seems ok. In fact, we have to go sell cookies for Girl Scouts tomorrow - do you have something like that in Denmark?
