I almost hate to mention it simply because I heard it sucked, but they made a third one too... Never saw it though. So I can't pass full judgment on it, but if I got the gist of the storyline, they act like 1 & 2 never happened... Or something really stupid like that... I don't really remember what the back of the DVD case said. Last time I saw it at walmart was three years ago...

What made those movies all the cooler (for me) was that he (falcor) looked just like my cocker spaniel that I'd had since I was 6, and being a kid with a cocker spaniel, watching a movie like that with Falcor in it... Needless to say, I questioned why Binky (don't look at me like that, I was 6 when I named him) couldn't fly by spreading his ears... I always ended up reasoning that it was cuz he wasn't big enough... >_>

Oh, don't think my grandmother showed me IT to be devious. She told me not to watch it... And you know how kids are, tell them not to do something, they'll do it anyway...

"Johnny, don't touch the stove, it's hot!" "OW!!! MOMMY!" "Toldja..."

"Timmy, don't run by the pool..." *CRUNCH* "Ugh... Nevermind, I'll get the mop and call 911..."

It's such the never ending cycle, really...

I LOVE The Secret of NIMH! I even got it on DVD, and the cruddy sequel and the book that the movie was based off of!

I always liked the "Never Ending Story" movies... That was a good series of flicks for kids. And the flying cocker spaniel was the best part... Course, anyone now a days looks at it as some cheesy flick about nothing, but whatever. My childhood was made happy by a talking doggy that could fly...

Absolutely in moderate doses. Although it might be fun at the time, traumatizing a kid has bad long term effects... Such as my fear of clowns after watching IT when I was 7... But I'm not a good example anyway, my entire family is nuts. ^_^

Same reasoning applies though. Show a kid something flat out twisted and they'll be terrified of it for life. Throw a happy ending on it (like something only Disney can pull off) and the kid loves it and has no long term effects from it...

It wasn't pretentious sounding at all, actually. I mean, it could sound that way, but I just took it to sound like you're interested in the Tim Burton movies. Don't blame ya for that. Dude is a genius in his own way. Very few directors can pull of what he does so easily.

I was thinking all this time that my mother was making something out of nothing. It's disconcerting to learn that there was a hype about it... How sad that people are just so scared of what they don't understand... Personally, i wasn't scarred by watching it, unless you consider daydreaming a scarring experience...

Seems to me that the people who start rumors about movies are more like children than the children that would be seeing said movie...

Oooh, you missed the hype surrounding NBC when it was first announced to be released then. All the close-minded holy-roller types kept spreading nasty rumors about how NBC would be so totally satanic and all this other crap that actually forced Tim Burton to alter the script a bit and change it around to please the masses more. No, it wasn't actually going to be what everyone feared, but it was less Disney-ish and more nightmarish. I think he was forced to go more cartoony in the design, prettify some other scenes that were harsher looking, and not be so graphic with the violence... Granted, this is all according to what my Mother keeps telling me about the original release of the movie... I was actually banned from watching it... Saw it anyway a few years later on VHS..

Lol! Wow, I thought I was the only one that remembered that movie... O_O Bet you don't remember seeing it in theaters, do ya? Then again, that makes me wonder if I actually remember seeing it or if I just remember catching it on cable and thought I saw it in theaters... -_-

Don't get old, it messes with you're head... >.>

*snicker* Least it's not the same sounds the original Atari game has where even the aliens make noise... >.> Great, now I feel old again...

Yea, I know what you mean about the sound though. I just tend to not have the sound up on the computer, so I don't hear it. I've taken to listening to the mp3 player *too cheap for ipod* while on the comp...
