Getting dark here. Normally I enjoy having the screen door open but we can't cause of the irksome salesmen. They mentioned the company. It's brooks pest control originating in Tennessee. But they have some offices here. Their reviews are terrible. It's for aggressive, rude tactics. I couldn't believe their tactics. And Mr x saw the girl again today! She was using the porta potty that is next door cause of the construction. Why is she still on this street? She didn't come here, unless it was when we were scootering.

So we were going up this road when we heard some angry guy yelling at someone. F this, F that. I asked Mr x who's he yelling at? Nobody. Alrighty. We crossed the st.

Then we saw a woman walking her dog. We waited to the side so she could cross the st. She said, Oh I thought you were lil kids! It's great you're doing that! Hmm. I said, but isn't my scooter pretty! It is a very pretty pink scooter and I'd post it but the clarity isn't good here.

Passed the free library and there were a batch of Archie and Veronica comic digests! Score! I took all 5. I considered giving them to bro cause he likes comics, but he's a hoarder. He has tons of books and doesn't even read. So I'll just return them.

Been reading a free book. 1886. A young girl's European trip. I think the book is set in 1906 or so. They're mentioning some illness plague. Maybe it's that 1918 flu one.

I enjoy this book because I, too, did a European tour. I can compare it to my experiences. And what did I like? I liked the meals, the different languages, the scenery. I disliked all the shops they kept taking us. Prob the shops subsidized the tour. Experience is close to the movie, If it's Tuesday, it must be Belgium. Boy, do I know what that's like. I saw 11 countries in 21 days. We were on the move every couple days. I lost 5# after. I was very thin then. Around 100.

There was a brush fire in San Jose where bro lives. Only 25 acres. They were able to get it under control. I've been going out doing workouts in case air goes south. Gf said smoke near there got really bad. I'll have to check the air quality chart.

Just had a cliff bar. Mr x watching women's bike race on Olympics. Just read article how no country wants to host the Olympics anymore. What with the virus. It ruined everything. Maybe the Olympics, itself, are in jeopardy of being obsolete. Then there'll be no ultimate world prize for excellence. Do we need to compete with the world?

I'll be scootering. mr x can come if race is over. Otherwise I'll go myself. Temps ticked down a bit. We're still susceptible to smoke from fires. Got to take advantage of the good air.

Yesterday we had to wait for that package so I slogged in the back 40. Been awhile. Clang bangers still there, but not as noisy as before. Nonetheless, annoying.

There was that couple that came to door at night and we didn't answer. And Mr x said her shorts were quite inappropriate for selling something. On ND a nabe took a screenshot of the guy. Mr x said that's the guy! He was smiling in pic but nabe said he wouldn't leave. Persisted in ringing again after the woman declined. Got snarky when she said she would call cops. She did. I don't know if they located him. But it's this kind of interaction I don't want. Which is why I never answer the door.

Got to do hair. And git er done, son!

I had a pretty relaxing day. I did odd tasks. Finally made up more pbj. Cut a new melon. Cleaned bathroom counter. Cut 4" of my hair. I comb it down, pull it under my chin and clip it, then I cut it. Fool proof. Long ago I had bangs but they always need cutting. My hair do is pretty simple. I lean forward and clip it on top. Then I twist it slightly and use a small claw clip. I like it out of the way.

Mr x went to bed before 10:30 p.m. so I got booted from my couch spot. I'm having an ensure. He had a busy day. He's been riding with Corona nabe practically every morning. He's been working on the front and back yard. He washed, waxed, and changed my car's oil.

I felt fine after the morning. Maybe I needed a rest day. I never really have a rest day. I'm always doing something. When it's not an exercise day, it's desky, or Wally. Or house chores.

I found a radio app that plays free old retro shows. I found mystery theatre, a '70s production. The year I'm listening to has 191 episodes!! About 50 min each. It's not the book audio where the narrator does all the voices. This is a real show. It's how America used to listen to the radio. It's very cool. They have sound effects. It's a mystery genre. They have guest stars. There was one old lady and she certainly sounded old. At the end it said her name. It was Agnes Morehead from bewitched!

I was trying to get my redmi SIM slot open because I have a free mint mobile trial. It wouldn't open. The little pin didn't work. Bobby pin too big. I'll try a paper clip next.

Tomorrow I'm in because Mr x monkey tee is coming. I'm still looking for the last item. Those gourmet cookies had some concerning reviews. I'm looking at regular cookies now too.

Happy Sunday greetings! Mr x just went on bike ride with Corona nabe. But he had to watch Olympic women bike race first. I woke up a lil off. Slightly dizzy. It could be my eyes. Could be mugginess. It's been hot recently. But that Dixie fire is wafting smoke around. Gf has a spare the air day in sacto. And Mr go, one of my lunch pals, is in Reno. Their air is in the purple zone. Beyond red. I know what that smells like. Yuck.

So, unless I feel spectacularly well in the next couple hours, I'll abort the slog. I can do desky. I can always do desky.

So my last post was we'd be biking. Up this prime scenic route I used to run up. I thought I'd be able to stand up on the no speed bmx bike and make it. I couldn't get very far. Ended up pushing the 40# bike up the hill. It was an hour outing, but I bonked again. When we got home, couldn't wait to put bike away. Told Mr x can you take this? Otherwise I'd have to lie down on the grass. I went inside but revived by lying down, fans, and an ice drink. Turned out my ch was high.

That was Thur. Fri fed Wally. He's given up the good fight, poor fellow. He wet so prodigiously water was rolling down middle of garage. Next time I'll try newspapers under him. Then I can just toss them. With the rags I'd have to keep going outside to wring them.

Yesterday did desky. I went into my bridge account with golden gate bridge. When we used to Airbnb and had to cross bridge. I have a credit on the books and wanted it back, but they don't make it easy to contact them. And I hate talking on the phone. So I'll play passive and let it lie. Already the credit card has expired and after 3 years they're supposed to cancel account and return excess.

I also looked into that last stimulus debit card that I've put on Amazon. There is no statement. It's deducted immediately. So you have to keep track.

So I did that. These picky uny queries take time. I have to find the passwords. That, in itself, takes time. I need to organize my PW better. Particularly as fire season ramps up. I'll review fire grab bag. I don't actually have one. I have the list and things corralled. Like my sentimental jewelry, glasses.

I think I'll pass on the slog. And tomorrow we have to hang around for Amazon package. Well, I always have stuff to do inside. If I push myself when I'm not 100%, it could get worse.

Geez, it's already wed. I'm on a 3 day workout. Was supposed to be four, but we had to wait for an Amazon delivery. I got two more 50 SPF sunscreens. I had one 50 SPF bottle left and it was half gone.

Also I picked up this Secret deodorant. I had had a sample once and loved it. Yet I waited 3 years for the price to go down. It never did. So I got a regular size bottle for about $12 That is ridiculous. What happened to $3 deodorant? Every time I reorder something on Amazon the price has gone up.

I've been preoccupied searching for Mr X's bday gift. It's early August. I had been getting him a snack box. I go look and yup, price went up $5 since last year. That puts me off.

Then I read the terrible reviews. Stale, broken. Ants! Dinky packages. I happened upon gourmet cookies. I may get those. Reviews are vg. It's very pricey, but it'll be good. I don't want a disappointing gift. Then I plan to get him a tank top of a monkey riding a scooter. Because he rides his scooter. What else? Cookies, tee. Oh, maybe some candy. I was looking at some jelly bellies. I relent my no junk food rule on special occasions.

I'm pooped. Today I slogged. Yesterday I scootered, day before I skated. Tomorrow we bike. My day off is Fri when Mr x cooks his omelet. But I'll be feeding Wally.

Gf has started her radiation treatments. She'll prob be writing me soon. I think she may have to go on disability for awhile. It's supposed to cause fatigue.

Yesterday I renewed my trial subscription with mint mobile. I'm getting one year service. And the unlimited which is 35 GBS. It comes to $30/mo. That's very reasonable. But you have to prepay the whole amount.

My newest audiobook is Anne of green gables. Think Pollyanna X 20. Yet I really like it.

Well time for audio. I listen for many chapters in bed.

Late Friday greetings! Still warm. Today was Mr X's omelet day so no workout. Going to skip the weekend, too. Got other stuff to do.

So, that last bike ride? I hit a large rock. Wasn't going fast. I staggered but didn't fall. Mr x said he thought I'd seen it. I can see the ground pretty well, but going under trees produces a dappled shadow effect. So the rock was dark.

Doesn't make me like biking any better. It's my least fav. But I can't do more scooter sessions till my ankles adjust. And still they're ok from the last time. Other than biking we'd have to walk or hike. I do like hiking an awful lot. But too many Monsieur ugly sightings.

It's not easy riding bikes in town anymore. Kids these days don't ride. But when the shut down started folks did ride more. Bikes are a hot theft item around here.

So today I shuffled desky around. Opened the mail. Got to ease back into civilian life. It's interesting the regulars you see on the road. The mail truck stops at a certain place where he eats lunch. We recognize some other folks exercising.

Finished a book today. A popular author who writes contemporary books with positive, uplifting themes. So interesting how she connected all the pieces. I'm going to have to reread it.

Continuing to listen to Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. She received the Pulitzer, I believe. Written in 1920 she writes of 1870 new York, I think. So long ago. Yet the characters are young. And they're headed for the future. So strange that their future is our distant past.

Their society is so different, yet everyone knows the rules. Like we know how our society works. Yet every generation's society is different, I would think.

I plateaued a bit on the church radio. I'm not as obsessed. There's another preacher I can't abide so I turn it off. It's his preaching dramatic style. Won't listen to the call in program. I find the revelation talk the most interesting.

Greetings comrade! I'm reading animal farm. Mr x just went off to bike with Corona nabe. When he returns, he'll make me my soup, then we'll bike.

It's the 3rd workout day. First was slog. Second scooter. I was kind of dreading the scooter. My ankles had been ailing since the last few times we scooted. It's unpleasant. I was looking up ankle wraps yesterday. But was going to try a stiffer shoe. The edge goes up higher so ankle has more support. And happily it seems to have worked. My ankles are fine today.

Last nite we decided maybe I'll try to fix Wally. I'm not being able to get the washer. It's ticking off my OCD phobias. Of having to visit the store, wearing the mask etc.

Was awakened by clang bangers. Sounded like they were dropping cookie sheets on concrete. Heard this may go on till oct. They're working on the roof now. Mr x said instead of individually putting down the roof they have them attached to sheets. I hope we don't have to smell the tar.

Guess Ill start picking my outfit. Don't have to do my hair as much on helmet day. I put it in a scrunchie. But the ends stick out and look terrible. I had a mesh net I was going to use but it's misplaced. I looked for it to no avail. Here Nettie Nettie! Want to go on a nice bike ride?

Tiresome day. No clang bangers. That's a plus. Waiting for an Amazon order. Hair product plus another big soap. The new vanilla one I got didn't elicit any response from Mr x. And I'll admit, a tan color soap isn't outstanding. But it's big. 5 oz. And triple milled.

I wanted to work on closing bank account but got sidetracked helping Mr x with his motor oil problem. He was complaining to high heaven that my car takes 3.8 qt. It's not an even qt and he has to inch it in the last mile. So I went ol and laboriously figured how much .8 qt equals. Then we got a measuring container and I measured out 25 oz. That'll be his .8 qt. I hate this math type problem. Then it got me all off track with the banking. And temp heated up and now I'm cranky.

I don't trust sites nowadays ol. How do I know that site is legit? And I abhor having to talk to companies. I think I'll start ball rolling by mailing them a letter. You can't even em or do chat with them.

Today's my last hiatus day. I go back on the road tomorrow. No exercise for 4 days. I hope my ankle had a good rest. I got some stuff done. Not what I would've liked, of course.

Anyway, I think my slim fast is calling me.

Taking a break. I've been busy. Did another desky day shuffling papers. Updated Tracfone summary. Periodically I like to post the current balance and check expiration dates.

I looked into cancelling my capital one accounts, but naturally you can't do it ol. I'll have to call the dirty rats. Perhaps tomorrow. Checked status of our jury duty days. We both got one. Mine is in sept. I worked my eyes. Then started cleaning toaster oven.

It started out ok. Tho that cleaner could be stronger. It was hot in the kitchen but I kept at it. With an old sock and toothbrush. Vac out the crumbs. I had taken out the tray and metal grill but had hard time putting it back. Started feeling off. Not again. Started feeling shakey. It started in my arms then legs. I figured I was low. I reviewed my intake and not a lot of carbs. I guessed 109. I was 189! Hmmph. Got to wait it out. I'm having crush pineapple, sugar free. Put away cleaning stuff. It's done except for putting it back together. Maybe tomorrow. Or I'll mention it to Mr x and he might want to fiddle with it.

It may be the heat in kitchen made Ch rise. I'll have to check ol. I suppose I'm wise not to slog in this heat.

Think I'll go rest and listen to Oz again. Mr x is watching ball game on my bed making it all hot. I'll go reclaim my territory.

Sunny greetings from my noisy Oasis in Clang Bang City, an annoying conglomerate in Calif. It's Day 3 of my exercise hiatus due to the heat. I'm not getting as much done as I wanted. It's hard to get going in a hot room. And we can't open the windows or door till the noise makers leave. At night I leave front door open till I go to bed.

Yesterday I reviewed my washer folder. The articles I had set aside regarding washers. I think I will go for the stacked kind. The new models of reg washer got bigger. I have a tight space with 1/2" space till the alley door won't open. I am concerned about stacked washer falling tho. In an earthquake it would fall right on my car. And Tahoe just had a Shaker. I think gf must've felt it since she's in sacto.

I'm trying a new eye exercise. I think one eye drifts inwards and that could cause my double vision. So since it drifts in, I'll practice gazing the other way. I'm happily surprised how well the exercises have worked. At first I could not slog down the street without terrible double vision. I had to close one eye. I had to have Mr x take me to a schoolyard to slog so I could avoid the curbs. Now I can slog with both eyes open and even ride a bike. And I could see the obstacles in the street.

Last night I listened to The Wizard of Oz on my fuchsia Kindle. It was wonderful. The Kindle app on phone stopped working. I was intrigued how the book differs from movie. In the movie Dorothy's ruby slipper is paramount. In the book it's silver. The one who made the movie version was very clever.

Well it's another desky day. I scoured the other toaster oven tray. I want to clean the outside and vac crumbs inside. Then we can use it for waffles and I'll dump the toaster that started making a bad noise.

Joe's almost done. Got to put up hair and git er done, son!

amazing as it sounds, i passed the dmv vision test. i was quite apprehensive in days leading up to it. every nite religiously doing the eye exercises. straining, straining to see, imagine, the dinky little letters. when it came time to test, i didnt even falter! i guess i could see the shapes good enough to recognize. mr x came with me. we had a 2.5 hour wait. he started grumbling part way thru the wait.

other day we were at macs. tried their new ice mocha. yum!

then yesterday hung out with bro for 5.5 hrs. he had these dumb rebate cards to redeem and he didnt need anything. so we went to walgreens, 2 cvs, and a tjs. i caught up on my shopping. we hit a macs and i tried the caramel macchiato. even better than the mocha. we got along very well. we had been estranged a long time. but now i suppose i will eventually move closer to him. he lives in san jose. not a place id like to be. maybe i can move nearby on the coast. would like some fog weather.

so i passed my big hurdle. can relax now and get back to normal. have to hire a drywall guy.

just finished a great read. about uber rich ladies and the scam perpetrated against them. a good frothy read. hey, its fall i believe! got bottle of pumpkin spice latte by starbucks. so curious to taste it.

welcome to fall! time to bring out the sweaters.

finally got back here. we had a plumbing event. on labor day mr x noticed water running off front lawn. a water main had broke. a small 2" gush was gushing out. mr x called water company who turned off water. then i called our go to plumber. a solution was to replace pipe to house. however id been wanting to replace the pipes one day. we had no hot water at bathroom sink and cold faucet was dribbling out. i knew it was a matter of time. then. we didnt have hot or warm water in washer. only cold. thats why my wash would take hours. so i decided to kill all birds with one stone. i replaced all pipes with copper. it took a total of 5 days. we had no water for 3 days. first day we used wipey dypes. 2nd day mr x warmed water jugs in sun and we bathed with a gallon of water. i helped mr x wash his hair on back lawn. i viewed the experience like camping. its doable, but im not keen on it. 3 guys were here. all spoke spanish. so i decided to learn spanish on phone app. itd be nice to be able to converse with them.

im doing eye exercises. plan on taking vision test next week. its better not doing close work, which ive done my whole life. reading way too much. better to look at scenery. i think ill continue the eye exercises.

we had really hot temps, then other day first rain of the year! it began with a thousand lightening strikes. scary, and weird for this area. it started brush fire couple towns over. also monsciour ugly was caught on film sliding his grotesquely ugly body under a residents fence. # the outrage

id been watching lovely old films, then the plumbing debacle. i have to bring in a drywall guy to patch up the holes the plumber left. already found my guy thru yelp.

back to school time, but kids already back. when did that start? and no telethon with jerry lewis. he really wanted to hit 100.

its been super hot here. sf broke record. something like 106. we were 107. i was taking 3 showers a day. would sit outside at nite for air, started watching my dvd player. watched, british intelligence, with boris karloff. such an intimidating man. it was a ww1 flick in blk/wh. got bit by mosquitos. its the gift that keeps on giving. next nite sprayed off on.

got couple more weeks for eye exercises then have to take dmv vision test. strangely enough, the pinhole glasses im using seem to help. before i couldnt see without glasses without closing an eye. now im able to read my phone without glasses. of course, i return to glasses asap.

the smoke from oregon and calif fires drifted down here. could smell it slightly. today its a strange totally overcast day, but warm.

your friendly, pink weather girl.

hi izzy! i know what you mean. its fun to read new blogs. kind of like toothpaste. if nothing to read, ill read the tube. tube tops. i thought those were the dumbest things. then my wing went out once and i couldnt finagle a bra. so had to get the tubes. so easy to put on. i have them in colors, of course. fuchsia, lime, orange.

im writing on lappy, my laptop. too onerous to text on my phone.

its been a long, hot summer. i look forward to fall temps when i can don my beloved denim jackets.

izzy, that was interesting telling of what a nuclear stress test is. what is the nuclear part? the dye? it sounds so high tech. nuclear. do you glow now:)

i need to clean my fans. some arent openable. need some kind of thin bristle brush.

a few cities over madame ugly and her spawn were spotted. search partys are out since they came down where schools are. i noticed their looks didnt improve over the summer.

did i mention mr x found a dead rat on back lawn. thankfully he disposed of it. he said it was 17" with tail. # ick

see you in september!

We had to replace the water pipe to our house, years ago, when we had our own house. BF and a friend did the work.
A root from a tree had punctured the pipe...so the tree was felled.
The lawn never recovered from the line that had to be dug into it to access the pipe.

I bet its nice to have working water again!

OMG, the smoke from the fires drifted into Colorado so thick that it allowed one to look directly at the sun without seeing spots when looking away!
We could barely make out the shapes of the mountains through the heavy smoke.
When the sun had set and the moon had risen, the moon looked much like the sun had looked...only the sky was dark!
There was also a fire near Steamboat Springs, Colorado that grew from 2 acres to 419 acres in just a few hours...that also contributed to our smoky air.
The elderly and people with health issues are being advised to stay indoors with the doors and windows closed.
Its really kinda scary to see that much smoke in the air!

I'm glad to hear that the eye exercises and the pinhole glasses are working for you! ...I should try something like that since my aging eyes are failing fast...but I am lazy lately...maybe at another time.
