Yeah, that would explain part of why it split. haha The coaches do that sometimes, but only when they were running us through drills. I've never practiced without the equipment, except for goofing around a bit with my sis ... Oh ouch! >< And yeah, but it's épée, so it may be mean but it is legitimate. Corps a corps, you mean? Like when you go right in against the opponent and need to maneuver the blade around to hit them anyway? If so, then yes I have practiced them, I just haven't really used them in a match before.
I usually am not stronger then my opponents, I love fencing in mixed pools, it's such a challenge! I'll purposefully shift my sword arm to the left when against a lefty to try and mix them up a bit, or I stab them on the leg ... XD Right through their glove? How worn out was it? haha And you're talking about a stop hit right there, aren't you? And it's épée, you get a point for everything.
This one time at a fencing summer camp, this guy wasn't wearing any groin protection, and he got hit were the sun don't shine. His opponent still got the point.
haha Sounds like it. Foil has always, historically, been nothing more then a practice weapon. The épée on the other hand evolved from dueling swords, which really does kind of make sure that it's a lot nearer to real combat. I've actually never fenced using a russian grip ... I like the pistol grip because I tend to like aiming for the hand. I actually hit someone on the palm of the hand once, and stopped them right in their tracks. It was hilarious!
Do you prefer the pistol grip, or the french one? Oh, I tried practicing left handed too, didn't work out so well, then again I didn't practice much. Let me guess, didn't like foil because of all the extra rules?
haha And she didn't get carded? I've never fenced saber at a tournament, that's always been my sister's thing.
Hi, I was looking at threads randomly and saw your name pop up, and out of curiosity clicked your name .. And then read that you fence. What weapons do you specialize in? I'm an épéeiste myself, but I'm not bad at foil. Haven't touched on the saber overmuch.
uhg these are so hard to write... lets see... I'm a very unique person, just like everyone else. I am extremely emotional and erratic at times, and extremely stable and stoic at others. I'm a walking poster-boy for chaotic neutral. I'm in my mid 20's, I am a strong aethist who practices symbolic rituals and deity worship for purely emotional and medatative reasons. Other people would call me an nihilist but I don't self identify as one. I am VERRRY chatty. I am somewhat obsessed with female peers, though I am also friendly with men, children and the elderly. I still have many fears an I work daily to eradicate them, I'm fairly vain, and a lot of people tell me I don't belong in this time period and I take it as a compliment.
