I feel out of step, sometimes.

I was the kind of kid everyone hates, in elementary school. I got skipped two grades, and was still the kid who always knew the answer. They didn't want to skip me further, because they felt it would have too much social impact on me. Frankly, I'm not sure there was any right answer to the question.

People always seemed to expect me to be something great. When I announced my intention to go to nursing school instead of medical school, a lot of people seemed disappointed. They expected me to be an astrophysicist, or a doctor of medicine, or... something. Something great and impressive.

But I'm not.

I am the mistress of procrastination. I should go and clean the stove, like my uncle asked me to. Failing that, I should go and write some more on my YA fantasy piece. I am doing neither of those things. I'm not doing anything useful... just sitting here, typing meaningless posts that no one will actually read.

Yippee.

Well, today I published the first piece of my fiction in the literature forum. It's the first chunk of the first chapter of a young adult piece, and I hope to get some feedback on it. I'll post regularly, but probably sporadically, for a while.

I'm in my home town on holiday break, staying with my Aunt and Uncle. Did I mention I'm an orphan? It's okay, because my Aunt and Uncle are great, and I've never wanted for anything. But sometimes, I still miss my parents.

Anyway, tonight we went over to my other uncle's house, and played Dungeons and Dragons with my other uncle, my cousin, and a couple of our friends. My other uncle was running the game, and he almost managed to kill us all. Almost, but not quite. Victory! Yay!

Hello! My name is Jenny. Okay, that's not what it says on my birth certificate, but I'm not really a "Jennifer" kind of person. I'm a nursing student, with only two semesters left to go -- I anticipate graduating in December of '09, a year from now! I do wish we could take classes over the summer for Nursing, but the program at my university isn't set up that way. Boo. Also? Hiss.

I kind of stumbled across this site by accident... there was an advert on a manga site I was reading, so I clicked it, and here I am. Perhaps I'll start putting up pieces of the novel I'm working on. It's a young adult fantasy... no, don't start rolling your eyes, yet, I'm a good writer! Honto desu!
