Ooooh! I've got a little bit of all the countries in the British Isles represented! Mostly Scots and Irish though, I believe.
The Ghibli films are so spendy!! But I'm missing a lot of them and it makes me sad (as I listen now to a collection of music from the various films on youtube).
I get all the spoilers I could want from my dad >.<
It might be nice to have like...a "home base" that you can travel off from. I talked about that with friends. Renting a caravan and going off from there. Even if you have a night or two that you don't stay there....might be worth it. I need to get around more of England...then Wales, I didn't get to visit. I want to do the whole literary British tour so I can geek out.
I really don't. I need a cool anthology. I always keep my eye out during the book sales for folk/fairy tale books. I have 3 different "colored" fairy books. Blue Fairy book...brown...and I think yellow.
I know! I need to go to the mainland. I've been around the British Isles and Ireland on different trips. My problem is that I want to go to Scotland again bad.... BUT also around Europe. Thank goodness flights and trains are so reasonable once you're there.
:True true. I wish I knew more native american folklore.......That at least is more interesting than the post-colonization Americas.
I saw season 1 thanks to my friend Kate. So, I might just do a refresher of it to get into the groove again.
;) I still like me some Winchester boys. Granted I binge watched it and wasn't with the show from the beginning. Just from season 8 on.
Yup! Sign me up for visiting in the winter/spring.
Oooooh. You had me on dark fairy tales!
You know, I don't much American folk tales......I can think of um.....what, Paul Bunyan?
Oooooh. I'll have to watch it all soon then cause that sounds like fun. I like a combo of shows making fun of their genre...or being self aware while still doing the typical things you'd see. I understand about supernatural. I feel like there's a point you need to get past, and once you're past the hump you get really into it. My dad got past it cause he has nothing better to do on days he's not doing well, so he binge watches things. But in the end he loved it and talks about it with me a lot. So that's cute.
Hah, is it? I'm not so surprised by that. Well, my friend was just defending her thesis for her doctorate in Italy and she was staying during the crazy heat wave this summer. I felt so bad. Three days leading up to defending, she got zero sleep cause it was so hot. Not an air conditioner in sight. XD
I have heard of Boyfriend. I can't think of a song of theirs right now.....But I'm sure I'd know it as soon as I heard one.
Ah. I love both. She does both. Like she did a Beauty and the Beast type story (very loosely based) and then one that was a mix between the Frog Prince and The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Folklore wise, she sticks with celtic ones.
Oh no! I saw season one of that show and liked it, but I am super behind. I have other things to watch first, like finally catching up on season 10 of Supernatural.....
I dunno why it's not downstairs...but no matter. The whole downstairs just pretty much houses my cat at night. lol I can't imagine being without it there.
Oooooh. Yes! I bet you can pick up on them just by watching! I hope you got a nice kick in on the trumpet case after tripping! Ouch.
Yup, there's not a single show out there without a cliff hanger. XD The author I was thinking of is Juliet Mariller. She's great. Does a lot of folktale retellings.
We have central air upstairs, but downstairs we don't. It's always cool down there, but the floors get wet when it's humid. Not so fun. No one lives down there though. Just guest bedrooms and a big family room we never use. The cat sleeps there. XD
Oh yeah. I might pick up belly dancing again just to get control of my body and movements once more. That and you know, it's great fun. How'd you sprain your ankles? XD
My favorite author always comes out with books in the fall. Good plan, because people are shopping for Christmas, etc. But... I'm shopping for Christmas too! So I always have to buy myself a present cause I want to have her new material. Ahhh. What a cycle. I also get mad about cliff hangers. This goes for movies/shows too.
See, I wish I got into it more when I was younger like you did. Because in my head I've always made up stories where I'm in the book too as a character....but that's as far as it's ever gone. My own little musings.
Yup! No matter what you do, you feel sticky 5 minutes later. Bleh.
I'm hoping that I'm not super klutz-y when I start doing more with fire spinning. I took a class on it a few weeks ago. I want to pick up the staff and fire fans. Just...hope I don't burn myself too much. ;)
I got legitimately mad the other day when a book I was reading ended because the next book isn't out till November. XD Oh yeah? I still haven't been able to get into any. I'm betting there's a great wealth of really well written stuff out there though.
I just recently graduated with my Master's in English, and I'm working as a long term substitute teacher, while I figure out what I want to do. In my downtime, I like to read fan fiction and participate in fandom
