This question was asked on another forum and it got me thinking a bit.


I honestly have no clue where music will be in the next decade or two, but hopefully it will be somewhere good. I think we'll see a surge in people doing things independently. Trent Reznor's already started doing it, and more times than not some random band on Soundclick is better than anything you'll hear on a radio station. So it seems like music is going to go independent.

Stylistically, I'd like to see an end put to the endless sludge of trendy novelty bands. No more Soulja Boys or J-Kwons or Fall Out Boys or My Chemical Romances, this type of music needs to make way for people who are actually doing something worth listening to.

As far as genres go, I don't really care as long as the music is good. All we need to do is begin weeding out the cream from the crap in the music industry.

So what do [B]you[/B] think will happen with music in the next 10-20 years?
