Okay, well... The basis of the game is that you're a girl named
Viola. You wake up under a tree and find a cat on a stump and a letter torn in your pocket. You can't get out of the forest due to the massive bush of roses blocking the only way out so you go the other way, to a house, which when you enter locks you in. It's a series of horror-based puzzles that have a lot of shock value and tense situations, and as you go along you begin seeing this
purple-haired girl that comes and goes like a ghost. Along the way through the house you also find 'the witch's journal' with excerpts of the witch's diary. It begins with saying that her parents never loved her because she was sick, and she had no friends because of it. Then she says that her mother and father never loved her, so she X them. And from then on all the friends that came to her house were X as well because the house ate them, but it was never enough. At the end the last entry is in a bloodstained bedroom, saying that she found a real friend, and she didn't X her because she was nice, and she wanted to keep her friend because her friend helped her.
After this journal entry you're met with a 'legless girl', who's actually the purple-haired girl you've seen appearing and disappearing. You have to run from her and you can either run straight to the exit or to a special area that has a knife called "Ellen's knife" and then run out. If you take the knife you get the sadder ending:
after escaping and destroying the roses you're met with the legless girl that followed you out. Suddenly your demeanor changes and you begin talking to her, saying how persistent she is, and use Ellen's knife to stab her so she'll die a little faster. But she doesn't immediately and it's revealed that you're actually the witch and you traded bodies with her with your powers, because you were dying from your sickness. But the real Viola, the purple-haired girl, managed to use your power against you and trap you in your own house, but it'd never really kill you, just help you out. Then Viola's father finds you both and calls you (since you're really Ellen) by his daughter's name, asking if you're okay, and sees his real daughter, the half-dead girl, crawling toward you both trying to speak, 'father...' 'daddy...' And he yells "STAY BACK, MONSTER!' And shoots her twice...
And is... so sad. There's no spoken dialogue so it's all imagined in the person's head, which can make it all the more sad as it is...
