Aah. I'm in Canada, and apartment buildings abound (though not nearly as much as in America). My friend lives in an apartment, so I know a lot about them :P For example, there appears to be this unwritten rule that people in apartment building going down on the elevator only go to the first floor. Seriously. In nearly seven years of visiting my friend's apartment, I haven't yet seen anyone going down on the elevator go to any other floor.

Ah, all right ^^ Oh, and are you gonna edit your post so he's answering the phone instead of the door? In apartments, you open the phone and buzz someone through so they can go up to your apartment.

As for your post - not in public school? You buy books in university, and he wouldn't be there as a ten year old. Oh, and the phone rang, not the doorbell :P
