I loved the book too. And the movie was pretty good, though they can't really hold a candle to the written versions...
Glad you like my own concept of it... Then again I do love hummingbirds. Location, location, location... Ah... Ooh, how about Russia? A lot of land there.
That's about how I feel! Without someway to write I'll go crazy... I'll find a way to write in any situation if need be.
Ohh, that actually sounds like a daemon from Golden Compass... Although I did have an idea for a race of Hummingbird shapeshifters---mostly female, very thin and airy, tall and with large eyes and narrow faces, hair that resembles their feathers and clothes that look as if they have wings... Ahmm, back to reality! Well, depending on location, I might change the animal of my character. Shall we consider this to be a specific place in our reality? Seems it conforms to this world, anyway.
It can be a pretty good form of therapy, in a way.
Ah. So they look human when they're not transformed, but they aren't necessarily considered 'human' from a textbook standard?
I get it! I get that, yes. That sounds like a real problem there. Ooh, curious: What animal is he?
Ah, I know how you feel there. Can really take your mind off whatever's bugging you, hm?
An offshoot of humanity? What's that mean, specifically? And grounding him, as in something steady in his life to keep him on some kind of track?
Yes I do. A while back I came up with a race, actually. A race of African-based shapeshifters that use the teeth and claws of their necessary animal to transform, making an amulet or necklace out of the items. Was a lion I believe. I'd wanted to branch out and make others similar but along different races and species... but never did.
