Ah, he's a static character. A personality that's obviously akin to greed but is kind and lenient without being a pushover. He keeps himself out of most affairs so he doesn't have to deal with the 'annoying' emotional parts of it when that tends to happen, which does happen.

So you can bend him many ways, really.
