Ha, well, you ought to go sleep! And I ought to take my own advice!
Uhm, let me see... Well, there's contortionist, a type that can escape very confined places, but has an odd appearance about them. Perhaps they look like a snake or cat, and therefore their ability speaks for itself. Maybe a former puppetmaster who is now a zombie, though he can raise the dead or control spirits. A wild boy, maybe, who can communicate with or understand animals, but can't specifically speak English or any human language. Hmm.... A tragic clown who can make anything sad with a look, touch, or spoken word. Perhaps... a beastmaster who forces even the most wild and dangerous creatures to bend to his or her will, but this doesn't include the other freaks because they're oddly different. There could also be a magician whose powers are real, but derived from dark arts and therefore cannot be performed on the willing.
It was. Well placed jumpscares after many, many minutes of stressful calm is certainly nerve-wracking!
Yes indeed. But it's quite all right. I tend to think a little ahead, so having more than a few characters is obvious of me. Of course I've had the idea in mind for a while, at the same time. If you need inspiration you know I'll always help you out! I've got a dragon-boy, angel, and sword-swallower so far. Still thinking of whether I should include a regular human that can eat anything and everything presented to him....
Oh, trust me, I am too. Waking me up, though! Holy hell, didn't expect that jumpscare...
Quite all right, I know someone I could go to!
Oh, perhaps. Yes indeed! Just be careful, the ringmaster must obviously suspect such a thing, therefore has employed a strongman and beastly creature as body guards. These he keeps happy, however, so they protect him in turn.
Sounds good! I even have a character idea in mind already... talk about quick! Of course there ought to be other, secondary characters that are to help keep things going. Could be NPCs, though created by each of us in turn.
I'm watching hilarious and horrifying horror-game playthroughs on YouTube, because I don't need to sleep tonight...
Ah, how unfortunate. And it has so many... possibilities...
Ahem, anyway! For the freakshow one... well, indeed there can be many possibilities. Perhaps it could be a very long-term type of thing, no real need for extensive posts beyond the first few, that go through their daily life, the punishments and lack of reward they get for what they do to generate the 'ringmaster's' revenue, the way other new acquisitions try to stand up to him or her but are quickly put in their place. And it could deepen into an escape attempt, on the run, eventually delving into the freaks finding more of their own dejected by 'normal' society and decide to make their own deep in a forest. But I'm thinking way too far into it... Ha... Just some quick, spur of the moment considerations for what could happen.
Oh, gladiators! I used to have gladiator ideas in mind, don't know what happened there. Always did find it interesting, after all.
Well, the Wonderland one is here in a blog. I was inspired by a series of songs on a randomized playlist and browsing DeviantArt.
The 'almost apocalyptic' one is when the undead are just beginning to show themselves, but in random areas, so it's impossible to pinpoint where it's started. They're very weak so far, so it's easy to kill them since they're still forming to their bodies, but it's not quite known what might happen later. Of course some of these are more human, and how they came to be half-undead is unknown. They do recall a flash of red light, which is what erased their memories of whatever happened to make them like this. Now we have to live with the influx of zombies, but they have no idea how vicious they'll turn out to be later. Or how... strong.
The freak show is simple. A few tents, one large and two small. The largest is what holds the strangest and strongest of the freaks, all in specially designed cages. The freaks are treated terribly, however, by the ringleader, who is constantly exploiting their abilities for more money. But the freaks have been shunned from normal, everyday society, so they have little choice but to deal with the dehumanization they're put through (though some aren't human at all, mind).
Oh, don't worry about the art. I actually found someone I really, really like. Their art is quite good!
Hm. Well, considering all of them are in the number one spot! One's a twisted Wonderland with more modern-day characters having fallen down the rabbit hole. One's a traveling freak show with very, very real freaks. I guess I'm leaning more toward darker scenarios, though that's not specifically what I've thought up. There's a character in a more almost-apocalyptic future who's very eerily chipper I'd like to use too... Hm.
No I haven't! I know he doesn't like group plays! But I'll mention it to him, I just remembered that I still haven't responded to his last message, so it's perfect timing! Thanks Pap. :)
