Oh gosh. I took forever to figure out profile customisation My profile's been like this since 2007 because it made my brain hurt so much xD Plus I like it and have never wanted to change it

Have you found where it's done? If you go to the My Account tab on your dashboard, on the sidebar menu you'll see the customise profile section at the top there. It's all about trial and error then, try something and see how it looks.

If you want a background image for any area, you have to upload one into an album on your profile first (so probably create an album first, lol), and copy the code for it from there by clicking on the little image icon that's relevant to the area you're wanting to change.

When you create an album it gives you an option to set it specifically for profile decoration images.

Hmm. Not sure what else I can tell you. Hopefully that's enough to get you started though.

that's my runway if you want to take a look though you might want to wait till you have a comp as most of the images are in drop down menus that you have to click on and i don't know if you'll be able to with your phone.

Ah, right! That goes away after a while. It's just a prompt but it's not a permanent thing :) I can't actually remember how long it displays for, sorry about that D: It's something our admin put into place years ago, and no-one else has any means to alter it, you see, and he's not active like he used to be as he's too busy with RL obligations.

A shout-out kind of thing would be cool, it's something that we might get one day, but not any time soon as the site doesn't have any funding for new features,
