Mr x biking with Corona nabe so I was able to set up his gift bag. The cute monkey bag. It's rather small so makes the meagre gifts look larger. The monkey on a scooter tank, skittles, jelly bellies, and the Ghirardelli caramels from the freezer. Looks nice.

Last nite I finished the mystery book! I had forgotten how the bad lady dies. And I finished the kid book. Then I picked up the children's 1850 stories. I thought that would be a find. But the previous owner had scribbled over the pages. I tossed it. Plus the cover was ripped. I'm now finishing a Betty Veronica comic digest. I also might try reading the thinner books first. They'll go faster. Lessen the book load. Those 3" tomes last. I can't believe all the free books I just stored away without reading.

It's still weird weather. Mostly overcast but hot. Still doesn't smell bad, but rating is in the yellow. That's worse than the best, green.

What shall I do today? It's sun. No horrendous clang bangers. The patio will be quiet. I could skate. But it's also muggy hot. Do not know. It was getting rather tiresome bonking outside. It's happened three times.

The beleagured Olympics are finally over. The heat, virus. Tokyo didn't even want to do it.

I wonder if Mr x got melon refund. My next chore is getting jury duty purse packed. I'll make a list. And finding exactly where they meet. It's at the fairgrounds couple towns away.

I'm stuffed from din. Think I'll be heading for my radio shows. I did find the book dust cover. Went back in closet and looked in two bins. Grabbed a stack of books. Those must be read. I have to set up Mr xs bday gift bag. I want to bring down this cute monkey with a banana one. Hope it's reachable and I don't have to drag a ladder in. My closet entrance is messy again.

Today was not very productive. At least the air stayed ok. But it's hot. I may not be able to hit the road for a week. Definitely no slogging. Maybe not even scoot. Perhaps I can gently bike. There's patio. And of course I have the inside bike. I feel my endurance draining away.

Yesterday when I fed Wally, I stepped on the soaked newspaper and slid. It was slippery. But I didn't fall. Maybe cause of my sessions with the slippery skates.

It's getting dark. Mr x guffawing at baseball game. I'll try to finish that book.

Hi Izzy! Great to hear from you! That sucks Denver's getting brunt of the smoke. It's murky skies here and warm. Wow, you're getting mudslides! The trees prevented that. Take away the trees and you get mudslides. This world is not well anymore.

Maybe eye drops could help your eyes? I've been using mine daily. I hope the wind changes it's direction to you!

I stayed in today. And so far not done much. I cut the melon, but it's bunk! That same spongy texture like they froze and defrosted it. Mr x will return tom. And that's the end of our melon season. We had about 10. The last two bunk.

Soup was corn chowder. I'm almost finished with the mystery book. But have to find the dust cover before I give it away. I always remove those when reading cause they get messed up.

Oh, Mr x was indeed correct that something ate his tomato. He thought it a mouse. It was a 22" rat, tail included. He measured it. Yuck. Corona nabe shuddered when he told him.

My eyes feel crossed. I went in my closet to look at some book bins. Was looking for the dust cover. I think it's in a book bin. Found more books I had picked up free somewhere. And never read. That's a hoarding trait. Well, nothing to do but continue reading. The bins at least keep them in good condition.

Last night heard radio show of the Abbott s. Married detective team. Good show. Looked up the skirt. Her uncle was Frank Morgan, the Wizard on Oz!! I love these connections.

I had insomnia last night. I read some. Ate Fritos. Listened to radio shows. Then put on jazz music. One of my Twitter pals is insomniac. He goes thru this nightly. Just one night was tiresome for me.

    Hey, Dazzy!
I'm glad to hear that your air quality is in the green!
Denver's air quality was declared the 5th worst in the world on Friday. They say that the smoke content is like smoking 2 cigarettes! Utah's horrible air is predicted to be drifting toward Denver tomorrow (Saturday), making it even worse with a high temperature of 90°F! People with health issues are being urged to stay indoors and parents are being told to not have their children outdoors for long periods of time. How sad for the kids, not able to enjoy their summer!
It's rather disturbing that the smoke we are experiencing is being cause by fires from outside the state of Colorado! I haven't heard of any ongoing wildfires here.
Instead, we have been experiencing massive and reoccurring mudslides in the areas that burned last summer...I-70 has been closed down in Glenwood Canyon and will be closed until they can do repairs and figure out a way to keep the mud and rocks from sliding into the highway. Semi trucks and travelers have to take a 4 hour detour to avoid the area...driving the prices of many food items up that come from the west of us!
The air quality, here, has been making me feel pretty cruddy lately...lack of energy, nowhere to go to get a breath of fresh air and scratchy, dry eyes.
I hope your air quality stays in the acceptable range and you are able to continue going outside!
    Stay safe and healthy! &

Mr x hit the hay early so I'm in the back room. Brought my book. Almost finished. I want to bring it to that free library. It's a new book I got for free at a street fair. Too bad, tho. It'll be outside in the elements. And hers is not enclosed. She has these book case things outside. I'll have to look more closely. Is it an actual piece of furniture? There's only one shelf. But there are two. So two shelves. When I go by, I only check one shelf. Plus Mr x has limited space in his backpack pocket.

I'm reading this other kids book I picked up somewhere. About a girl going to kindergarten. She's very sassy. I don't like it. Like a Lucy on peanuts. It's a thin book so that'll go next time. I'm getting lil obsessed with getting rid of my books.

Heard Utah's air is messed up. Earlier our weather report said hazy. When has that happened? Only the last time we had smoke drift. But right now air in green zone.

I'm thinking I won't be going out tom. My workouts are not going well. But it's sat. Hmm. I could do another skate session. Or desky. On HS blog I posted pic of me playing tetherball in 7th grade. I didn't like it. Very often you'd hit the metal part on the ball. Or the girl would grab ball and swing it. That was hard to hit and I member my arm getting caught in the rope. Now if you had a paddle to hit it. That'd be better.

Back to my book. Oh, earlier was listening to some radio about husband and wife detectives. That was ok. Then My Favourite Husband with Lucille Ball. Episode I saw tiresome. Martial jealousy. Oh, then the Aldrich family. Life with teen boy. Getting into teen boy trouble. I don't like boy life stories. They're always fighting, taunting, etc. Like hardy boys or Nancy drew. I'd rather watch Nancy. See her clothes.

I've got a slight headache. Or neck ache. It's hot n muggy. Outside it looks overcast yet rather hot. I think the smoke is coming over even tho meter still reads green for good air. I'm on the last wash. Wally wet all over tho the newspaper helped. I need more. I can't wait for my nap and radio shows.

I wrote gf. I told her Mr x was riding with Corona nabe. She asked is he a repub. She hates Trump. She lives in a red town. Said she saw a truck saying resident of Jefferson state or something.

She got him mixed up with political nabe who is a lib and would come over to talk to Mr x and trash Trump. Mr x doesn't even vote.

So Corona nabe said he puts out rat poison. He has a phobia about even looking at a dead rat. Rat poison has consequences. In ND they're always imploring folks not to use it.

I read Jennifer Anniston is axing folks around her who are not vaccinated. There are all these sub groups. Let's say someone is vaxxed, but they're a repub. Do you give them the ax, Jennifer? What if they eat meat? It goes on and on. I guess whatever is most important to you, you vet. Otherwise your social circle will be very small. It's very tiresome and I just want to disappear into the past of the radio shows.

Of course they faced reality, too. Some ads were mentioning the end of ww2 and getting back to normal. History does repeat itself.

I don't know if I'll scoot tom. Depends on temp, air quality. I don't want to curb sit again.

Just went in freezer to look for those chocolates. I didn't find the mini chocolate ones. Geez, we must've finished them. I found the sees. Plus 2 Andes chocolate mints and a Ghirardelli caramel. Mr x doesn't like the mint so I pulled the caramel ones. I'll try one later. Should be still good. Also found 4 bags of ice I prepared for some power shut off. Even tho it takes up space I kept it cause PGnE is a messed up utility.

You hear they may be responsible for Dixie fire? They love to have disasters and turn around and gouge customers to pay for it. I see why some go off grid.

There was interesting article about this old guy living in the woods. He's squatting on private property for some decades. The owner didn't even know he was there. His cabin was burned. Don't know by arson or what. He refused to move. What I found interesting was how he was living. He was growing his own food, had chickens. That's great for eggs. That unibomber, also, was living in the woods. Sometimes they're anti social.

So my ankles are ok after a 2 day scoot. They found this missing runner nearby. He had disappeared. They did extensive search. Well he was off the path under a tree. Even tho he was young and very fit they think the heat got him. Plus he might've gotten lost so was off the normal path. So the searchers couldn't find him. Poor guy. As they say in these instances, at least he died doing what he loved.

Mr x just came back. He found the address of that senior lady's house. Also said now a mouse may be dining on his tomatoes.

Got to go look up name for that address. And feed dear Wallace. He of the Ceramic clan.

Do I look like Mrs Wong?! Just back from 2nd day of scoot. I started running out of gas again. I wasn't enjoying it as much and trying to conserve energy. On the last stretch I decided to curb sit again. I wasn't urpy, but maybe too hot. I picked the same shame filled shady part near a hedge. Mr x said it was cool wind coming from a creek behind the house. Soon I was ready to go.

We rolled on. It was garbage day and we'd been dodging cans. Then I saw a senior lady on a walker struggling to pull this huge wheeled garbage can to the curb. Of course I stopped! Got off, said I can pull that for you. She was very sweet. It was only a few more feet but she'd have to turn it around. And what are Juniors for except to help with seniors? I'm sure she did the same when she was a junior.

She said, oh dear, and me with my hair in curlers! She had green curlers. I said, well look at me with my helmet! Then she peers at me and says, are you Mrs Wong? I said no. She said some new nabe s had moved in and she wanted to say hi.

Well, it was a very satisfactory interaction. Reminded me of when I volunteered at a senior place. But also I still present as Asian. Hmm. I'm wearing photo chromic sunglasses over my glasses. They change automatically with the sun. It should've been dark. But she could see my eyes up close I guess. I stuff my hair in a pony and put it inside my shirt back. Anyway I'll look out for that house. I'll ask Mr x to tell me the address. It could be a mother of one of my classmates for all I know. Or a teacher.

I think two scoot days in a row is why I bonked. I'm not up to speed yet. Mr xs bday is sun. Oh, I need to defrost those chocolate s. I'll do that tom when he bikes with Corona nabe.

Was able to scoot! Seemed back to normal. Temp was cooler. Tho now my hands are tired. They have to grip that handlebar for over an hour. Mr x right now is just yabbering at me telling me Olympic stats. Will he ever realize I am not interested? I'm not even looking at him. I'm totally looking at this phone. If you look at him and engage, he'll talk the rest of the evening. And I won't be able to blog. Just listen to something I'm not interested in.

Mr x needs more friends with similar interests. Like today the political nabe dropped by and they yakked in the yard for 1.5 hrs. The guy said Mr x should come with him to ride this skunk train way up North. We had been in that area once on a vacation.

GF wrote so now I owe her a reply. Her radiation is almost over. Amazingly she's still working. Soon she'll start an anti estrogen pill that she has to take for 5 years. It's supposed to have lots of severe side effects. Well I hope all this gets her in the clear. She was supposed to move to Iowa this past spring.

Oh, I found a zucchini on the scoot ride! I always look into boxes in lawns in case there are books. This one had two zucchinis. I took one. Will cut it up tom.

I returned that book I borrowed. It was freeing to return it. This is how I shall dismantle my book collection. Of course, I have to read them first. Got to return to this huge Sue Grafton book I've started. I stalled, but I'll get to it. It's a huge, heavy book I got free at the Town faire.

Hey, just realized I didn't need to take an Advil today. So I'm better. Tomorrow will be cooler. Got to go out again cause Fri is omelet day and Wally needs attention.

Think I'll have an ensure. Oh, tonight listened to Phil Harris and Alice Faye show. I think it was '35. I had heard the names but never saw their work. I liked the show. They're both singers. And they're married. He has a pleasant voice. Hers is sultry, which is a surprise. I thought it'd be more like Harriet Nelson.

Also listened to flash Gordon. I had seen the movie couple mos ago. So was familiar with the plot. On this one I think the movie was more entertaining. Plus flash Gordon and Dale Arden were both unusually attractive. You can't hear that.

Mr x just went off to ride with Corona nabe. They have a usual route. Usually they go check out the cat adoption store. Nabe likes to complain about stuff. Baseball games, the clang bangers.

I'm going to try to scoot today. Temp will be lower. I have to get back on track. Oh, reminds me I have to charge the lil TracFone I carry.

I was reading about Cuomo's purported harassment of a female state trooper. Sounds quite believable. I had this kind of stuff happen to me. Not that overt tho cause I worked in an office. This guy, who was of grandfather status, was always draping himself on me. And I didn't mind! It was my first full time job at Stanford. I was so naive then.

Well, I did get some needed stuff done on my unexpected slog hiatus. And no Prozac till the winter season where I won't be going out. Tho it doesn't rain anymore. Mommy, what is rain?

Mr x bought another melon! Did we not talk of not getting a new one till the old one was gone? There are still two bags of the terrible melon. I read reviews on Amazon for Joe, for instance. They'll say it was terrible. I threw it in the trash. You can't give it away? Bro was getting kpods from ND nabes who didn't want them.

Well I hope I can ride the scoot. We go around this huge block. It's a super block. But one way is an incline so you coast quite a way. I guess my hiatus was good, too, cause it gave my wrists a rest. They get tired holding onto the handlebar and absorbing all the vibration from the cracks.

I want to return one of those free books. I'm working on one of the Archie comic digests.

Last night listened to Ozzie n Harriet. Amusing episode about a dripping faucet. Then a lone ranger one when he meets silver. I'd like to know how he met Tonto.

Well, best get started and pick my outfit.

Time to git er done, son!

amazing as it sounds, i passed the dmv vision test. i was quite apprehensive in days leading up to it. every nite religiously doing the eye exercises. straining, straining to see, imagine, the dinky little letters. when it came time to test, i didnt even falter! i guess i could see the shapes good enough to recognize. mr x came with me. we had a 2.5 hour wait. he started grumbling part way thru the wait.

other day we were at macs. tried their new ice mocha. yum!

then yesterday hung out with bro for 5.5 hrs. he had these dumb rebate cards to redeem and he didnt need anything. so we went to walgreens, 2 cvs, and a tjs. i caught up on my shopping. we hit a macs and i tried the caramel macchiato. even better than the mocha. we got along very well. we had been estranged a long time. but now i suppose i will eventually move closer to him. he lives in san jose. not a place id like to be. maybe i can move nearby on the coast. would like some fog weather.

so i passed my big hurdle. can relax now and get back to normal. have to hire a drywall guy.

just finished a great read. about uber rich ladies and the scam perpetrated against them. a good frothy read. hey, its fall i believe! got bottle of pumpkin spice latte by starbucks. so curious to taste it.

welcome to fall! time to bring out the sweaters.

finally got back here. we had a plumbing event. on labor day mr x noticed water running off front lawn. a water main had broke. a small 2" gush was gushing out. mr x called water company who turned off water. then i called our go to plumber. a solution was to replace pipe to house. however id been wanting to replace the pipes one day. we had no hot water at bathroom sink and cold faucet was dribbling out. i knew it was a matter of time. then. we didnt have hot or warm water in washer. only cold. thats why my wash would take hours. so i decided to kill all birds with one stone. i replaced all pipes with copper. it took a total of 5 days. we had no water for 3 days. first day we used wipey dypes. 2nd day mr x warmed water jugs in sun and we bathed with a gallon of water. i helped mr x wash his hair on back lawn. i viewed the experience like camping. its doable, but im not keen on it. 3 guys were here. all spoke spanish. so i decided to learn spanish on phone app. itd be nice to be able to converse with them.

im doing eye exercises. plan on taking vision test next week. its better not doing close work, which ive done my whole life. reading way too much. better to look at scenery. i think ill continue the eye exercises.

we had really hot temps, then other day first rain of the year! it began with a thousand lightening strikes. scary, and weird for this area. it started brush fire couple towns over. also monsciour ugly was caught on film sliding his grotesquely ugly body under a residents fence. # the outrage

id been watching lovely old films, then the plumbing debacle. i have to bring in a drywall guy to patch up the holes the plumber left. already found my guy thru yelp.

back to school time, but kids already back. when did that start? and no telethon with jerry lewis. he really wanted to hit 100.

its been super hot here. sf broke record. something like 106. we were 107. i was taking 3 showers a day. would sit outside at nite for air, started watching my dvd player. watched, british intelligence, with boris karloff. such an intimidating man. it was a ww1 flick in blk/wh. got bit by mosquitos. its the gift that keeps on giving. next nite sprayed off on.

got couple more weeks for eye exercises then have to take dmv vision test. strangely enough, the pinhole glasses im using seem to help. before i couldnt see without glasses without closing an eye. now im able to read my phone without glasses. of course, i return to glasses asap.

the smoke from oregon and calif fires drifted down here. could smell it slightly. today its a strange totally overcast day, but warm.

your friendly, pink weather girl.

hi izzy! i know what you mean. its fun to read new blogs. kind of like toothpaste. if nothing to read, ill read the tube. tube tops. i thought those were the dumbest things. then my wing went out once and i couldnt finagle a bra. so had to get the tubes. so easy to put on. i have them in colors, of course. fuchsia, lime, orange.

im writing on lappy, my laptop. too onerous to text on my phone.

its been a long, hot summer. i look forward to fall temps when i can don my beloved denim jackets.

izzy, that was interesting telling of what a nuclear stress test is. what is the nuclear part? the dye? it sounds so high tech. nuclear. do you glow now:)

i need to clean my fans. some arent openable. need some kind of thin bristle brush.

a few cities over madame ugly and her spawn were spotted. search partys are out since they came down where schools are. i noticed their looks didnt improve over the summer.

did i mention mr x found a dead rat on back lawn. thankfully he disposed of it. he said it was 17" with tail. # ick

see you in september!

then i started a cary grant and rosallnd russell movie.

i made up 5 packs of indonesian ramen. made oodles of noodles. heard ramen is hot commodity in prisons. ramen wth an egg on top. # breakfast is served

i should try on my cargo shorts again. itll probably be another year till i can wear them. i sure love the pockets. i used to be a tomboy back in my tomcat days. but i grew out of it. i get more favorable responses when i dress ladylike.

We had to replace the water pipe to our house, years ago, when we had our own house. BF and a friend did the work.
A root from a tree had punctured the pipe...so the tree was felled.
The lawn never recovered from the line that had to be dug into it to access the pipe.

I bet its nice to have working water again!

OMG, the smoke from the fires drifted into Colorado so thick that it allowed one to look directly at the sun without seeing spots when looking away!
We could barely make out the shapes of the mountains through the heavy smoke.
When the sun had set and the moon had risen, the moon looked much like the sun had looked...only the sky was dark!
There was also a fire near Steamboat Springs, Colorado that grew from 2 acres to 419 acres in just a few hours...that also contributed to our smoky air.
The elderly and people with health issues are being advised to stay indoors with the doors and windows closed.
Its really kinda scary to see that much smoke in the air!

I'm glad to hear that the eye exercises and the pinhole glasses are working for you! ...I should try something like that since my aging eyes are failing fast...but I am lazy lately...maybe at another time.
