It really was a waste of time. The only things he really taught us were road rules. Signs. Right-of-way stuff. Different types of roads. And that's...about it. Nothing else.
It was a disappointment. I didn't do well in that class. I stopped caring once I realized I wasn't learning anything important. I knew most of those things already, before he attempted to teach them to us...
What's even worse is that they had one of the Phys. Ed teachers teaching it. He wasn't really qualified in the least...but at least I didn't get the other teacher. From what I heard from friends of mine, he looked like a turtle and let everyone sleep in class. And rarely taught.
But, nope. No car time at all. I asked him about it at the beginning of the year, and when he said there wouldn't be any car time, I questioned the intelligence of my school system.
Nah, none of them included dummies. They were about signs, weather, and--the majority of them--drunk and distracted driving. They didn't even teach us how to use headlights or nothin'.
I asked my parents about getting me some driving classes outside of school. They promptly refused and said it was a waste of money. They keep insisting that I take the school's training instead, when it's a load of bull.
I wish I could get my license. But I don't know how to drive, since my parents won't teach me. I'm refusing to get any sort of job until they teach me...so far, it hasn't worked.
For some reason, my parents don't seem to want to invest the time in teaching me how to drive. They've taken me out twice. Twice. And they let my permit expire, and now they have to pay to get it legal again.
I've already told them that I refuse to get myself a job until they teach me how to drive. Hopefully, that provides enough mental fodder for them to actually want to teach me. There is a program at school, but it's not an actual class--it's after-school, and during other classes, which means I would lose a lot of time in class and get really behind. I think that's bull, so I won't do it.
My elementary school's about a block and a half away from my house. My middle school and high school aren't even in walking distance, and buses don't come out this far. I have to be driven in every single day.
