You could always backtrack - give Jareth's first impressions of her family, of her sisters, her parents - give his thoughts on Ariena's behavior - his thoughts on Mary, Rowena, and Bertoldo and how they've reacted so far~
Perhaps have him step in to Mary's questioning, try and explain the story of what had happened between them and try and explain how their predicament came to be to her father Bertoldo?
