Well, I'm thinking it would take a few good months at the least~
Perhaps you could not have a day to day listing? Perhaps skip a few days now and then?
As for helping her to heal, perhaps he could slowly introduce her to things and kind of interchange things, yet come back to previous methods? And over time, that starts to brighten her up enough to talk, find out he has amnesia, and then his memories start to slowly return?
