lol. good morning everyone! i agree with lunie, if religious classes were taught in a manner were things weren't biased then it would surely benefit people.. a lot of us wouldn't be walking around with ignorant misconceptions. but sadly, many teachers are biased and that fact makes me agree with bulby.

Well here's my plan. I didn't talk to him yesterday, but I get paid on Wednesday, and I almost always go shopping, so I'm going to ask him if he wants to go with me and take him to lunch and stuff all by ourselves.
One day we'll have a picnic though.

As for the bias in religious teaching, this is exactly why it should be taught utilizing an anthropological framework. Not that I am so naive as to assert that anthropology is free of bias. I just think that the theoretical tools they gain from this would be extremely beneficial. Not only that, but such an approach would manage to sidestep the problematic questions of whether the religions in question are 'real' or not. But rather we could look at them from say a Historical Particularist or Structural-Functionalist perspective. The added bonuses of this would be providing students not only with the ability to understand religions on a deeper level, but also culture and social structures in general. In a world which is becoming increasingly 'globalized and characterized by interactions with people from differing cultures this secondary benefit would go a long way.

Furthermore, because of this I would strongly hope that a significant amount of attention is paid to small scale 'tribal' cultures, and their respective religions.
