@Aganab No pressure! @star I wish I could paint Easter eggs, we don't have that kind of tradition here. |

I don't have paint either. [lol] I think it'd be more fun if I have someone who paints along with me but maybe I'll try that next year. :3

@Sestina: Our tradition kind of changed as we moved to Australia, as we had to adapt to the new environment, but when in Poland we would: (and this is the same for most Christian families in Poland)
1. On Palm Sunday we would take palms that look like this: Easter Palms photo - Jola Dziubinska photos at pbase.com to church. 2. On the Saturday before Easter Sunday we would decorate baskets like this: http://blog.eun.org/schoollife/upload/KOSZ-thumb.jpg and put all sorts of food inside it, such as sausages and bread and eggs, and, of course, chocolate eggs and bunnies 2.1. Then we would take the baskets to church for a really short service, where the priest would bless them. After that we couldn't eat the things inside it until Sunday, which really irked me as a child, because chocolate [lol] 3. On Sunday, we would have a family breakfast, where we would eat the eggs we decorated and took to church earlier. The breakfast would be really big. It might look like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._sniadanie.JPG (that's similar to what our looks like) though it depends on the family, sometimes it's more lavish. 3.1. So basically we'd got to church after that. Church is pretty important in celebrating Easter and Christmas in most Christian traditions. 3.2. Then we'd eat the chocolate [lol] As in Aus, Palm Sunday isn't really a thing, we had to stop that tradition. Same with the blessing of the baskets. Also, since then a lot of the members of my family kind of lost faith, and the only person who frequently goes to church is my mum. Due to this, the only parts of the tradition that really remain is the painting of eggs, the Easter breakfast (which I've always thought to be the best part of Easter), and chocolate. ---------- Post added 04-21-2014 at 05:44 PM ---------- Quote:

i LOVED breakfeast on easter when i lived with mum.. we ued to have french toast and pancakes and eggs bacon sausage and all types of nummy things 'sigh' of coruse then we moved to superior and it became a sort of struggle jsut to have food lol but we still did it evey now and then..

That sucks, star.
We're having a bit of trouble with money at the moment as well, so our breakfast was quite small, and we didn't get as much chocolate as normally. It's always horrible when money problems interfere with family traditions. ---------- Post added 04-21-2014 at 05:48 PM ---------- Quote:

@Aganab Wow! Your family's Easter tradition is very nice. I'd love to have those kinds of traditions, it makes things more fun. You get to prepare and get ready for something. :) I love the palms. Here in the Philippines our palms for Palm Sunday look like this. My country has quite a tradition for the whole Holy Week but my family doesn't really follow the tradition but painting eggs was never part of my country's tradition. At least that I'm aware of.
I'd follow those Easter traditions that includes chocolates with a heartbeat. [lol] I'll try using permanent markers. I could just draw faces on the eggs like the ones I've seen on deviantArt. [lol] Hi SZP! |
