Gaia has its ups and downs. The real problems with the site are they are very controlling. They recently started to remove all "smoking related items" from shops and put a lock on those in inventories so they couldn't be traded because "IRL they smell yucky". While it is still ok to have alcohol related items and sexually themed items.

Another issue with that site is they have, for awhile now, taken their best items and made them "cash exclusive" so in order to get them, you have to either donate, or be absolutely rich.

The site is all about money now.

The benefits of the site are that you can post pretty much any non-sexual content whenever you want, so you can always be busy, whereas here you have to be careful what you post or it could get deleted and your gold goes bye-bye.

I like this site because everything seems to be so cheap, but at the same time, I like Gaia because of the overall ability to have fun and earn gold, which is a huge plus for someone who merely joins these sites JUST to build avatars, and possibly meet great people.

Ooh, I take it that you have all been members since near the begininig then? Yeah, I suppose at first a spam forum would be a good idea but I can see its flaws as well. I think I am fine with Menewsha anyway :D

I joined Gaia in May of 04. I was scammed 3 times and had to completely start over. Each time I was able to amass most of my items back rather quickly.

This site I joined only 3 days ago, and while it's been really fun, I am still confused over how much things cost, and why there is a restriction on how much gold you are allowed to earn per day. That really doesn't make it easy to obtain an item that costs as much as, say, those crowns.

There is a limit to gold here? What just for the games you mean? I love this site, I used to be on Kinsaki as were about eight of my friends but then practically all of us were unjustly banned for either spamming (which we never did) or abuse of the mule system (which none of us did either! So I came over here and absolutely love it, its so much cosier and more...complete looking. I mean with the ammount of glitches and problems Kin has I am surprised that it hasn't collapsed allready.
Oh, and just so you know double posting isn't really allowd on mene. Its allright, I did it yesterday by accident too, though if you report it to a mod they can merge it for you :D

@ Shaman: The only limit is how much you can earn doing games. The point of this site is to meet new people and engage in meaningful conversations. (or roleplay lol) You can get up to 20 gold per post and most of the time you can find fairly active topics. I earned enough for my Christmas outfit in less than a week without hardly playing any games. We don't see this site as just a place to build avatars, we come here to make friends and the avatars are just an awesome bonus.

I'm not ranting, really... I just really like the way this site is run. ^.^

I'm still on Gaia cause I have friends on there

All my friends from Gaia quit before I did. I have quite a few cash shop items on my accout, so i haven't deleted it. Not really sure what I'm going to do with it though.

Unfortunately I didn't get my post off before my computer shut down, so I'll try this again.

I wasn't attempting to say anything bad reguarding this site or anything, I was just saying that my main purpose on these avatar based sites is to develop great avatars. I pride myself on design talent. On my Gaia account, my journal has a HUGE list of avatars I've designed since I joined back on 04, and I enjoy giving constructive criticism, hosting avatar contests, and showing off my avatar, its my hobby.

Along the way, you do get to meet loads of great people, and I hope to do so here as well.

As for the amount I've accumulated in my three or four days here, my friend, who asked me to join for her, gave me all that I have, which is the recent halloween items, and this robe.

I'm really enjoying this site, and the people seem great, so I look forward to making an impact on the community in my own way, and hopefully people enjoy my company.

@ Shaman: I'd say you're doing pretty well for being here a few days. My first outfit was earned on this thread and everything I'm currently wearing was earned during the Halloween event, aside from the rose and glasses. I definately recomend sticking around during the next event. They make it very easy to get cool items.

@ Nao: Eyea has two kids she has to go pick up soon. Eyea's house will be very noisy at that point. Nao can talk to Eyea when they're gone to their dad's again tomorrow night. ^.^ Eyea has free nights and weekends.

Tana can talk to Eyea too if she wants. Eyea doesn't have local friends either. Eyea can't stand the people where she lives, but Eyea can't move because of the stupid new laws concerning visitation rights. Eyea lists her coworkers when she has to give personal references.

Eyea: Thank you for the advice. I'm planning on saving up and getting some of the really good CIs and EIs (I guess they are called) and get myself going from there.

I've learned that you can make some of the best friends online, because you aren't limited to your area, you have the entire world at your fingertips, and once you do get a group that you enjoy hanging out with, it gives you something to look forward to, a meeting with the great people you've met.

Yes....but it also means I spend most of my life in front of the computer screen.
