Fia blinked in surprise. It took her a while to figure out what he was with her angelic eyes. "You're a vampire..." She muttered softly as she walked into the dark tent, "A pureblood. How rare.... Didn't take you long to figure out what I am." Fia took another look around the dark tent, "I see that you're a fortune teller. Honestly, I doubt you can give me answers. I don't have questions."
|
"Plenty of people have no questions and just ask for a general reading. I don't claim to give answers, only guidance. The future, after all, is not set in stone," Joaquin murmured, gesturing vaguely with his gloved left hand as he circled the table, moving a little closer to the lady in the process. "Still, if it is not for my trade that you seek me out, what business have you in coming to visit?" He pulled out the chair his clients normally sat in for her in invitation. "Please feel free to have a seat if it pleases you. I could spare some time to chat with a fellow immortal. After all, time is something we have a-plenty." The vampire smiled, although it could hardly be seen under the hood, and turned his gaze to the tent flap past her shoulder. "And I'm certain we could commence some civil conversation if the gentleman outside would be so kind as to cease eavesdropping and simply enter if we are of such interest," he added, raising his voice the barest bit to be heard more clearly.

[[Alright XD
Time to start parade!!]] With arose traumpets, horns blown, arrival of the emperor was announced to Valkeseiren. It was a man of avarage height, had a wide wrinkled face with a thick layer of light brown beard covering his chin. He was dressed in reds, gold, and some blue as colors. One had to be extremely stupid to not realise he was emperor of Ulhavalle, thus his outfit was screaming in his place for the title. Lady Kel'irana glanced at emperor, with a short head bow from both nobles, he walked to his throne. It seemed a noble from Des'lariel was disapproving Kel'irana's attitude, no one cared actually. Emperor stood before his throne, music silenced, as well as noisy crowd. Head were turned to his way as he was getting ready for a speech. "Greetings from Valkeseiren! The city of miracles, hospitality and celerations... We are happy to see you join us, visitor from foreign lands, you won't regret your decision." He paused for a moment, looking around at sea of faces looking at him. Satisfied he continued. "This particular festive, is a sacred celebration for birth of a maiden at the ancient spring located at north of Valkeseiren. Legends speak for the account of this fortunate event, I don't need to repeat them. But as our ancestors did, we have our wishes, humbly waiting to be asked for the maiden if it's possible for her to grant us those. Citizens of Valkeseiren, visitors from lands of wonders, welcome to harvest festival, Birth of the Maiden of Grallier!!" With cheering and yelling rose from crowd, castle gates opened wide. Parade started as dancers and priestesses stepped out first. Ribbons and flower petals were flying in the air over the crowd, music started playing loudly by the royal orchestra. And finally, the glass statue of maiden showed up, pulled in a high carriage decorated with flowers. It was at size of a human, her figure was more slender like an elf, and had noble features of an angel. It was definitely more breathatking then the statue at town square, giving almost the same pose, this glass one looked like it would come to life any second. Slowly, it was pulled to an empty spot on town square so everyone could come and pray to the maiden. Priestesses were smiling gently, they walked around the glass statue. It was a sight to see, they were dressed in white robes, with sky blue sashes flowing down over their shoulders. There was a wood elf and a halfelf among priestesses even, rest were humans. |
The sun had begun its slow descent in the sky when the music began, signalling the start of the night's festivities. Erdaime quickly arranged the roasted pigeons in the two large dishes they would be using to serve it at the feast. The food smelled wonderful.
"Is everything ready, Erdaime?" Candice, the tailor, called from another room where she had been busy making herself presentable for the last twenty-five minutes. "Yes, Miss Candice. We can go now," she answered. "Alright then. Let's go join in," Candice declared as she stepped into the kitchen once more to inspect the finished dish, looking smart in her simple dark fuchsia and red dress. She nodded approvingly before looking Erdaime over. "Ah would that I were again a young maiden, back when looking lovely wasn't an effort!" "M-Miss Candice! You're not old at all!" the half-elf protested, flustered. "Spare me the flattery, cherie. I don't want to hear it from a sweet young thing like you," the older woman riposted, picking up a dish and walking down the staircase to the door. "Careful now, dearie, off we go." Erdaime nodded, carefully lifting the other dish and exercising extra care as she carried it down the stairs before following Candice to the Main Square. The dancers were already performing on the pavillion the city's authorities had erected the day before, and the people were already gathered around the long tables covered in white tablecloths all around the pavillion, either presenting their offerings or checking out the offerings of others. As she placed the dish she was carrying next to Candice's on the table, supremely thankful that she had managed to not trip over anything on the way, she noticed the priestesses taking their places. The dance was about to end, and the prayer ritual in honour of Sierra was about to begin. Excusing herself, she left Candice gossiping with the neighbours and wove her way through the crowd to get a better view of the religious ceremony so she could join in worship of her patron goddess. The music ended, and the priestesses ascended the pavillion as the dancers descended. They were led by the Head Priestess of Sierra in Valkeseiren, a brunette with graying hair who looked to be in her early fifties. She knelt slowly, and the temple sisters quickly followed suit, as did all the faithful worshippers gathered around. One of the priestesses rung a bell thrice in the respectful silence, and Erdaime closed her eyes to offer her own prayers as the Head Priestess began to chant in the language of the gods. |
Lady Kel'irana stood up, Ginnrol and the other knight on platform getting alarmed, they looked each other. In seconds, Ginnrol decided that it would be best to have a bow high above, where he could see further.
"I would like to show my graditude to goddess, your highness." Lady Kel'irana said walking to emperor. "Please, lady Kel'irana. As you wish." emperor smiled to charming lady. Sun elf woman bowed to emperor and she headed down to stairs. Ginnrol merely shook his head to his comrade, who nodded in exchange, returning to his watching duty. It was a thick crowd, Ginnrol had expected his lady would have such a wish. But he was more worried of her space then her wellbeing. "Lady wishes to pray to maiden of Grallier." he explained shortly to other knights waiting downstairs. With a wave of approval and murmur, all nodded. While two started walking ahead, Ginnrol stepped ahead, gesturing lady to proceed. "My, thee are taking mere prayers too serious. Shall it not be fine if I were on my own?" elf lady chuckled. "Surely, not precise as yours, m'lady, I have an intuition, under impression of a dark cloud is approaching. Would it not be more secure to act on caution and not on impulse?" Ginnrol said, leading way to lady meanwhile. "Then it shall be your way Ginnrol. Please naught ruin the entertainment." Ginnrol glanced back, seeing the wood elf noble was following their suit as well. Of course, everyone wanted to pray to maiden or goddess, whether they had a wish or not. They were walking around the crowd in order not to disturb anyone. ---------------------- Isis had leaned to polar of a stall, watching the ritual as priestesses began their prayers. She wasn't looking impressed though, she crossed her arms over her chest. She murmured to herself, words of prayer, which the high priestess was murmuring with a low voice only the ones around her could hear. Yet, it was an ancient language not many knew. "Goddess of life, our mother and protecter, you've granted your divine smile on our fates." she stopped, after this point, she started changing original words, with a serious, grim look. "With your guidance, we stand still, souls are enlightened o' great Sierra." priestess continued. "With your presence, we're lost, found ourselves worshipping mere fantasies in you place, o' Sierra..." "So we ask for your love rest of our lives, save restless souls, give us strength to cure wounded souls." "So, thy shall cry goddess, tears of blood. For all souls you failed to save, for each heart you wounded deeply." "Amen.." Priestess should've ended her prayer. Isis looked upto sky, dark clouds were really gathering. She frowned, not pleased with the situation obviously. "Amen indeed..." she murmured. "It's about time anyway..." "Ah, you know the prayer?" A girl chirped, amazed with the fact that she could understand a language not spoken by many. Isis looked down at the owner of the voice. It was a girl hardly on her 15, with bright blue eyes, caramel colored hair braided in two. Her smile was so happy and excvited that Isis couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, kind of." she said shortly, then returned her attention to statue and prayers. |
Fia sat down on the chair, not caring that someone was listening. "If you want to come in, then come in." She said loudly, "And fine, I'll have a reading. I'm pretty bored anyways."
|
Harren stuck his head in the door and smiled widely, revealing his large almost vampiric canines,
"Ya caught me." He than walked through the flap and surveyed his surroundings, taking in the odd shiny implements that covered the inside of the tent. He noticed an odd smell wafting about, He concluded it must be what humans call 'incense', "Intriguing. I would like to watch this 'reading'... I have heard tell of such a thing but have never seen the like with my own eyes." He looked at both the other people in the room and smiled again, "You wouldn't mind right...?" |
Joaquin circled the table to the other chair, saying, "Certainly. We'll use the cards then. They're good for general readings. Welcome, my..." He caught the scent of the boy's blood in their proximity as he passed and smirked. "...charming demonic friend. As long as the lady querent doesn't mind an observer, it's alright by me." He reached out to trace a small circle on a bare shoulder with a single gloved finger. "It gets a little chilly here at night. You might want to get a coat," he suggested, moving a few small glass candle-holders from the large block of cedar wood they were on. "Your kind aren't very fond of the cold, as I recall." Placing the block on the free side of the table, he added, "I'm afraid I'm out of chairs, but this could serve as a stool in the meantime. Please feel free to have a seat." He moved to take his own seat opposite the lady and began shuffling his Tarot deck, letting his energy fill the tent and connect with his client's. After several moments, he presented the deck to her. "If you would please cut the deck twice and put them back together in any order, lady..?"
|
Fia nodded as she cut the deck. She glanced at the newcomer for a split second, recognizing him immediately. He was the son of the ferryman. Fia saw him a couple of times when she was still a full-fledged angel. She wondered why he was in the human world, but decided that she didn't care.
|
[[Joaquin was asking Fia for her name as well with that last sentence, actually. XD" Would you rather I picked the cards or you chose?]]
Joaquin gathered the rearranged deck and shuffled a bit more before spreading the cards out on the table face down. "Please draw any three cards." |
[[ Hello, everyone. I am starting a little late, so I will back-track to the part when the music, dance and festivities were still ongoing, a little before the commencement of the prayers. I shall attempt to summarize what has passed as briefly as I could in this post. Also, Aearost (literally meaning ‘Sea City’) is the city Thalel originated from, situated somewhere around the South Eastern part of the Island of Narvliera. The harbour where Thalel’s home is located is the city’s harbour. ]]
“You’ve chosen to set sail at a most fortunate time, you lucky lad! Just in time for the Grallier's Maiden festival!” “Grallier’s Maiden…?” “Yeah! It’s a festival held every few years here in Valkeseiren. You see all these people here gathered today? The dock’s usually not this lively and crowded. Folks from all around gather here during this special day just to catch a glimpse of the famous legend, the Maiden of Grallier herself! Consider yourself lucky if you ever manage to meet the legend at least once in your life!” Silence. “When is the festival?” A chuckle. “Why, it’s tonight! Didn’t I just tell you you were a lucky one, kid?” --------- Thalel walked along the city square, looking around frequently in an effort to take in as much as he could of the sights and sounds surrounding him, more often than not nearly colliding with a number of people in his inattentiveness of the path ahead of him. Although he was familiar with the concept of festivities and gatherings, having been to several himself back in Aearost with his brother, never had he attended one held at such a grand scale. Although it was still rather unnerving to be surrounded by so many people, the wonderment and curiosity did much to suppress his discomfort. He was amazed and intrigued by the variety of stalls, the calls of the traders persuading passersby to purchase their wares, the cries of various animals, groups of men with mugs of alcoholic beverages in their hands, laughing and conversing animatedly, drunk in their excitement and the liveliness of the event, women in lively chatter, gossiping about the latest rumours, the clinks of metal on metal as the dancers swayed and pirouetted gracefully to the music… Music. He needed to play his flute. The urge was strong, the captivating melody and merriment of sounds mingling, pulling him, coaxing. As swiftly and quickly as he could, he weaved past the crowd, careful not to collide into anyone. Shortly, amidst his anxiety, he noticed a relatively desolate alley in a corner nearby, not too far away from the stage, but neither was it in particularly close proximity. Nevertheless, it was good enough; the music could still clearly be heard from that spot. Leaning against the wall of the alley, Thalel shut his eyes and took several deep breaths. When he had calmed down enough to breathe steadily, eyes still shut, he raised his flute to his lips and started playing, the lilting tune resonating as one with the music. He finally felt truly at ease. --------- A figure ran haggardly, tearing through the forest as if chased by an entire legion of monsters out for blood, the mantle and cape he pilfered from his attacker flapping behind him as he ran. The attacker had ambushed him as he was on his usual weekly round of hunting and gathering in the forest. The clothes he wore had been torn rather badly in the struggle, and after striking a deadly blow which ought to have killed his assailant, he took what he could in a hurry to cover himself and hastened away. Several minutes later, feeling that he had run far enough, he paused to catch his breath, which was coming out in ragged intervals at this point, leaning his back on the large trunk of a tree. Consequently, he slid down slowly to sit on the ground, still panting. The figure raised his hand to gingerly feel the skin on his left shoulder, under the mantle. There were two pierce wounds, already closing as they healed. He hissed in anguished anger. Feelings of dread and fear soon washed over him. He couldn't return home. Not like this. --------- Thalel lowered his flute as the music ended. That had been really nice, playing along with the music of the festival. He let the final resonances of the music wash through him, feeling them for the last few moments, before sighing wistfully and opening his eyes as the bell started tolling. From the alley he was currently in, there is a decent view of the pavilion. Although not clear enough to recognise familiar faces, if there were any, it would do. When the chants of prayers began, Thalel cautiously peered out of the alley in order to take a better look at the High Priestess. |
Erdaime opened her eyes as she finished her own prayer to Sierra, looking up at the sky. Dark clouds were gathering.
Oh dear... What a bad time for rain... she thought. Suddenly, a flash of lightning lit up the sky as white hot pain seared through her system before everything faded to black as she lost consciousness for the second time that day. ~*~*~*~*~*~ "Hey... Are you alright?" an elderly lady was asking as the assassin known as Morperel awoke. Her other self had fainted in the middle of the city square, meaning that she would have to masquerade as her until she managed to get out of this ridiculous dress and cover her face. She gingerly sat up, and keeping her tone gentle and cheery, she answered, "Yes! Oh, I'm so sorry for fainting like that and startling you, madame! I must be overworking myself as usual," adding a nervous chuckle for effect. If anything, assassins were thankfully good at acting to blend in. She looked up at the darkening sky again as the old lady behind her murmured, "You should go get some rest, dearie." Alara had called her, but she could feel the will of Nastasia in the air. What was going on? If Nastasia was involved, she expected things would soon get ugly. "Yes, yes! I think I shall!" she replied, rising. Weaving through the mass of worshippers, she quickly broke out into a run as soon as she could towards Candice's house to get the outfit and needle set she kept under the false bottom of Erdaime's medicine chest. Erdaime usually wore the chakrams hanging at her waist for self-defense while travelling, so they would be out in the open. Spying the alley to the right up ahead, she remembered it to be a shortcut to the tailor's and swiftly headed for it. Just as she was about to turn the corner, someone peeked out and she collided into him rather violently, sending them both to the ground with sounds of pain. She was up on her knees first, having trained to recover quickly when downed by opponents, and realized that she had run into a sea elf. There were still too many people around, however, so it was time to act again. "Oh gracious me!! I'm so very sorry!! I need to watch where I'm going more carefully! Oh dear, I'm such a klutz! Are you alright? I...I just gave someone the ointment I made for bruises, but if you come with me, I have more in the medicine chest in my room. I'm really terribly sorry!!" she cried in her other self's usual panicky apologetic tone while mentally feeling disgusted. Sheesh, is this what I've really turned into? Sure, it makes for the perfect cover, but this 'klutzy hopeless excuse of a damsel in distress' business is sickening. |
Finally reaching to town square, knight of sun elf lady and herself reached statue of maiden. As head were turned to their way with awe, none noticed a silent cracking on the subject of festival. If one looked from close enough and carefully, they could notice a small crack on beautiful face of the maiden.
Lady Kel'irana smiled as high priestess bowed to her, guardian knights escorting her were enough proof of her importance to sun elves. Even if lady wasn't breathtaking, making heads turn her way; those young men, wearing noble smiles, looking confident and charming were enough reason to take another look. As lady stepped ahead towards priestesses, seperated from crowd, Ginnrol stayed behind. "Perhaps we shall make our prayers to her grace as well." a knight with brown eyes and dusty blond hair suggested, half heartily it seemed. "Maybe in a spare time Marqucie, after lady retires her quarters, and so do we." Ginnrol answered in low voice, with a thick accent of elven. "Oh I beg thee Ginnrol," one of the leading knights laughed silently, whose green eyes shone brightly on his tannes skin, beneath the light caramel wavy hair of his, which was braided reaching half way to his back. "...when shall our spare time come if not before the dawn." said Gerhnnor. Elven captain closed his eyes, shaking his head slightly. His comrades behaved like such kids sometimes, it was a casual atmosphere around them but sometimes they just loved teasing their dear captain. "Silence comrades, lady shall start her prayer." one of them warned rest silently, with a gentle whisper. Ginnrol looked at owner of the voice, a gentle handsome face was smiling back at him beneath the golden short hair. Helai'te was the vice captain of the team, and it was very often he found himself saving Ginnrol from such moments. He nodded towards him with an acknowledging manner, when knights regained their composure, he could finally turn his gaze to his lady. She had finished exchanging words with priestesses and now it was her turn to pray to goddess. |
[[Oops, sorry. You can pick the cards.]]
Fia picked three cards from the deck and handed them to the fortune teller. "My name is Fia by the way." She stated calmly. |
Joaquin placed the cards in order, Ten of Swords, The Wheel of Fortune and the Eight of Wands.
"Hmm... Interesting... Well, as you may or may not know, but the first card represents the past, the second the present and the third the future, Lady Fia. So, in going with that..." He paused as the sound of music filtered in from the main square. "Well, it appears that the festival is beginning, so I should probably not take up too much of your time lest you miss too much of it. I don't suppose you'd mind missing the prayers though." He chuckled, glancing at the other two. "In any case, in the past position, we have the Ten of Swords. This seems to indicate a sense of...loss or disappointment in your past. Perhaps something you planned hasn't gone as it should..? Or perhaps you have lived through some tough times. However, some things are not meant to be, and hardship only makes you stronger, so it also comes with a message to take heart, for life is a cycle and things will turn for the better." The music stopped and soon after, a bell was rung thrice, signalling the beginning of the prayer ceremony. He continued, "This is supported by the appearance of the Wheel of Fortune in the present position, indicating a change in fortune, often positive. It seems destiny awaits you, as corny as that sounds. Change should be coming...and soon, since it's in the present. As for the future...it seems this change will bring about progress, activity and excitement in your life... There is a possibility of travel as well. Seems like you'll soon see a change in pace i..." the vampire trailed off as much screaming was suddenly heard from the main square. The other two also seemed distracted by the sudden commotion. "Goodness, I wonder what could be happening?" he asked aloud just an instant before a loud crash of shattering glass sounded outside. |
Winded by the crash and fall, Thalel stared dazedly up at the figure dressed in light green. The lady got up quickly and started ranting a long stream of panicked words Thalel couldn’t quite catch in his stupor. Thalel’s astute hearing noticed the slight hitch in the tone of her voice, as if it was rather forced, but disregarded it after a thought. It wasn’t uncommon, he had heard the same hitch in other people’s voices often enough in his life, usually when they were saying things they are not used to saying or do not actually mean.
From his propped up position, he suddenly noticed that the woman was looking expectantly at him, waiting for an answer. “I… I will be fine.” Thalel moved to get up from the ground, but halted as he noticed the spectacle above him. The evening skies were bleak and grim, lightning piercing through the clouds sporadically in various places. But what caught his eye were the swirling dark clouds. Round and round, converging themselves into a spot in the middle. It was abnormal, and nothing like what he had ever seen clouds doing before, in all the times he spent out on the roof of his house, gazing at the vast sea and the skies. |
Lady Kel'irana kneeled before the glass statue, she made her right hand into a loose fist, wrapped left hand gently over the other. Placing her thumbs together in a relaxed manner, she lowered her head, starting her chanting which could be heard only in a murmur.
Isis narrowed her eyes, she glanced up to sky then back at glass statue. How could they not notice? she thought. Are priestesses really that dense, this blind?! Then in silence, a great cracking sound could be heard. Lady opened her eyes, realizing cracking was coming from the maiden, she looked up instinctly. Her brilliant eyes were opened wide, looking terrified, like everyone who noticed that glass statue was cracking up from head to toe, she was petrified too. High priestess yelped, as rest of people gathered around also backed with fear, glass statue of maiden shattered into tiny pieces of needles with great immerse. "M'LADY!!" Ginnrol dashed to woman. At time he could barely cover lady, needles of glass hit an invisible shield casted over them. Ginnrol briefly glanced to his comrades, holding terrified lady securely in his arms. It was Marqucie who had casted shield, apperantly Gerhnnor casted one on themselves too. There was a wave of chaos in town square, people were running away, looking for each other screaming, yelling with pain and anxiety. Slowly, a soft shower started falling on ground. "Now, it'd be a waste if those needles stratched that pretty face." Ginnrol looked behind him, alarmed he draw one of the twin swords he possesed. Speaker was a human female, the very same fierce warrior woman who wore chocolate colored wavy hair. "What bussiness thy hast with us, state or leave." Captain ordered harshly. Isis smiled sweetly to the three knights, who stepped between her and their captain and sun elf lady. Charms of the bard nature worked faster than she expected, elves were quite dumbfound and they almost fully dropped their swords. "What bussiness you ask? Same as yours fair elves," she said, letting her grip on the wooden spear loosen a bit. ", protecting myself from unnatural harms." Ginnrol frowned, he shook his head and dropped his gaze on his lady to clear his fogged mind. He helped worn out woman on her feet and glanced around, checking for another possible treat. "Get hold of thyselves, she naught a fair maiden of true nature!" he warned his comrades in elven tongue. "For the records..."Isis replied with perfect accent in elvish, with a derisive smile playing on her lips in return to questioning gaze of knights. "...'that fair maiden' is actually, no maiden, sweetheart." |
"I... I will be fine," the elf Morperel had bumped into replied, but he seemed dazed. It didn't look like he was paying her or her frantic apologies any attention. In fact, she doubted he'd heard anything she'd said at all. Instead, he was staring up at the sky.
She followed his gaze with her own and was alarmed at what she saw. "Oh! Oh my! I must be going!" she cried, making sure to keep up the act. "I'm genuinely sorry, but I really must take my leave of you!" That said, she swiftly ran the two streets to Candice's house and dashed up the stairs to the room she was using to remove the false bottom of the medicine chest. She quickly changed into her catsuit and brushed her long hair up into a high ponytail before tying a black scarf tightly over half her face to conceal her appearance. Winding the ends around the top of her ponytail and securing them with another double knot to keep them out of the way, she removed the sandals she was wearing and put on the black boots she wore for travelling. Laying the dress out on the bed, she grabbed the chakrams and hurried into Candice's room where the window opened out into a deserted back alley to leap out and up onto the roof. Leaping from one roof to another, she made her way back towards the Main Square. The skies were still darkening, she could smell the humidity in the air of approaching rainfall and the power of Nastasia could still be felt in the hum of energy around her. Great Goddess Alara, why do you suddenly call upon your true priestess in these moments? she wondered, briefly touching the pendant of her necklace, but the deity was silent at the moment. With a final leap, she landed upon the rooftop of a building overlooking the Main Square...just in time to see the glass statue of the Maiden shattering. "Oh, I get it. Your precious Sierra is in trouble and you want me to help her, Your Worship?" she murmured. Just then, a loud crack of thunder sounded, and it began to rain. This rain... The assassin blinked. It reeks of enchantment! Nastasia, what are you... Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud shrill squawk from behind. She turned to find a large black bird with glowing red eyes flying towards her, a bird she had never seen before. Rolling onto her back, she slashed at it with one of her chakrams, and it fell to the side, the spray of blood thankfully missing her. She rose to her feet and inspected the bird's blood before cutting it's head off. It was dark green. She was fairly certain no normal bird had dark green blood. Nastasia was at work, and chaos was at hand. It seemed it was of a larger scale than she had imagined initially. Turning back to the square, she realized more of the birds were flying down. This was getting out of hand. Unrolling one of several needle-holding strips pegged to the belt at her waist, she slid a handful of thick ones out and hurled them at some of the further birds, aiming for the throat. Swiftly rolling the strip up again and putting it back where it came from, she leaped gracefully off the rooftop to land on the nearest bird, taking it to the ground with her and squashing it as she alighted near the pavilion just as the birds hit by her needles crashed into the walls of nearby buildings. Looking up at the pavilion, she recognized the armor of the Sun Elf Knights and the lady from that morning. "Men, I suggest you draw your swords!" she yelled in Elvish, just as another bird flew at her to be taken out with a slash of her chakram. That was all she had time to say before the rest of the swarm of birds arrived and she was caught up in the fray of battle. |
Isis looked up to the mysterious figure, who seemed to emerged from darkness itself. Smiling widely she swung her spear, which looked more dangerous now from a mere wooden weapon.
"Wise choice to follow, sire." With less effort she sliced a bird's left wing, and right wing of another. There was a confident smile on her face, like she wasn't surprised a bit, or disgusted at all. "Gentlemen!" Ginnrol exclaimed and all knights had drawn their weapons. Quite a chaotic struggle was going on down the square, now people weren't only screaming with pain, they were also filled with terror, looking for a way to escape this nightmare. A few birds decided to mess with Ginnrol apperantly, a whistling sound passed near his ear as well as a bird was knocked on ground with an elven arrow. Ginnrol took risk of glancing over his comrade, Freai, only bow who was actually in a higher place. He wasn't only managing to protect himself, but protect his comrades too from that distance. It was obvious he would run out of arrows in a matter of time. Meanwhile, Lady Kel'irana was clinging on Ginnrol, finally regaining her composure and calming herself, she started chanting a spell. A set of fireballs started turning around in air, in a wild whirwind. Setting birds on fire if they hit, as more she chanted spell, more fireballs were apperaing joining the whirlwind around them, slowly spreading to whole town square. |
The number of birds was ridiculously large, as if all the birds in the land were swarming to Valkeseiren. Morperel found herself surrounded by them no matter how many she slashed at and killed. The others were helping, and it seemed a mage was casting a fire spell on some of them. Still, they kept coming. And the rain was still falling, weakening the fire spell's effect.
"Oh Alara, Great Goddess of Battle, Protector of Warriors, grant me your power, your divine rage in the heat of war!" she chanted, her eyes beginning to glow blue as they did whenever she used Alara's power in battle. The power of frenzy washed over her, and she felt renewed strength flow through her limbs and the speed of her movements increase. Leaping gracefully into the air, she kicked a bird to the ground, propelling herself higher to somersault and slash a few feathered heads off and kick an incoming bird away into several of its companions before landing and killing a few more around her with her chakrams. "I hope this continent runs out of birds pretty damn soon!!" she shouted to no one in particular, feeling rather annoyed at the swarm of airborne monstrosities. Sure she enjoyed battle and hurting or kiling people in Alara's name, but that was people. Monsters were no fun at all. Still, the strange birds kept coming. It looked like they would be fighting for a long time yet. |
Harren ran out of the fortune teller's tent, and saw that the beautiful glass statue which had prominently stood in the plaza had shattered, and a fierce battle was being raged against an army of demonic birds. Harren smiled and thought to himself, "Cool, I get some real action on my first day!" Harren held out his hand and chanted,
"Ronamael, rise so we may quench our thirst with the blood of our enemies!" From his hand sprung two scythes, connected to each other by a chain. Harren's entire body suddenly rippled and changed; he grew about a foot, his ears tapered to an elf-like point, two white horns sprung forth from his head and three similar horns sprang from each of his shoulders. Harren's skin changed from white to a light pink and two bat-like wings sprouted from his back, he took off his shirt and pants as an array of ornate white armor pieces sprang forth from his skin. Harren now stood in his full demon form, He laughed with glee as he jumped into the air and began flapping his wings. Harren's eyes glowed with an evil red light as he said, "Let the blood flow..." With lightning speed he spun the chain of his weapon and flicked it towards a group of birds, the scythe on the end of the chain responded violently and whipped towards the birds before they could react. One bird was chopped in two vertically, and a quick horizontal flick of his wrist sent the scythe on another deadly strike, this time chopping three birds in half diagonally. Thick green blood sprayed the buildings below as Harren smiled in maniacal delight. (If you had trouble visualizing Harren's demon form: Harren) (BTW I wont be able to post again until monday, there is an anime con here called "tomodachi fest", and I'll be there until sunday night.) |
"I think, Lady Fia, that change has come far sooner than expected," Joaquin stated, rising to his feet and swiftly grabbing everything that was of value to him to stuff into the many hidden pockets of his cloak. The rest he had rented from the city or purchased for the festival. "We should exit this tent before something takes it down."
He stepped out of the tent calmly and surveyed the scenario before him, feeling the familiar weight of his crystal ball in the palm of his hand. "Ah, perfect..." he murmured at the sight of the many bird carcasses on the ground even as more fell. There were even a few humans who had been killed by the monsters because they hadn't managed to find cover in time. He walked forward towards the melee, flicking a few cards at the birds who noticed him, cutting their thoats as he gathered the energy of the death around him and focused his own into the crystal orb in his hand, chanting a spell. "Rise, my minions and obey your master's command," he intoned as rays of light emanated from the crystal ball to shine briefly on each of the dead bodies around him. "Rise and become my strength! Turn on my enemies and attack with vigour!" It was still raining, and his voice was drowned out by the thunder, but the sound of the dead returning to the realm of the living was, to his ears, louder still. Dislocated joints snapped back into place and zombies grunted as they picked themselves up off the ground. The sun had set while the storm clouds gathered, and Joaquin felt refreshed in the rainy evening. When the spell ended, he slipped his crystal ball back into its special pocket in his cloak. Dashing forward past the mass of reanimated bodies that had now begun battling the monster birds, he quickly used his vampiric speed and strength to grab a bird and break its neck. As he did so, he caught sight of several birds heading straight for a rather dazed blue-haired elf lying on the ground before an alley, staring up at the sky. Sending a few cards flying at the birds, he sped over to kill the last one by smashing it against the wall hard enough to break every bone in its body. The sound seemed to startle the elf, for he blinked and turned in its direction, facing Joaquin with a rather perplexed look on his face. The vampire took in the sight before him and licked his lips under the cover of the cloak's hood. The sea elf looked rather young by elven standards...young and delectable. It'd be a shame if he died so early. "If I were you, pretty elf boy, I'd stop staring and either find cover or defend myself," he suggested with a slight smirk, reaching behind him to grab an approaching bird by its wing without looking and fling it violently in another direction, ripping its wing off in the process. Dark green ichor dripped from the torn limb in his hand, and Joaquin tossed it a little way away from him carelessly. "You do know how to fight, I hope?" he asked, still looking at the slender elf before him. |
[[My computer crashed guys, I'll post tomorrow probably but for a long while I might not be as active as I was before. Wanted to let you know ^^;]]

Fia just stared at the scene unfolding outside of the tent. Before anyone knew it, she dropped the bags of food she had in her arms and ran at the birds. She pulled out a pair of sais from behind her and started stabbing the demonic birds one by one. She seriously had no clue what was going on, but if it envolved some fighting, she didn't mind. And besides, these were demons, not humans. It was a good thing to kill them.
'I'll be late for work, but who cares?' Fia thought as she threw one of her sais at a large bird, 'This is fun!' |
Morperel stared from where she was slaying several more birds midair as some of the dead birds began to move again.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," she muttered, annoyed again. Much to her surprise, they begun attacking their own kind. Even as she kicked another bird to the ground to rise higher into the air, she saw the few humans who had fallen prey to the birds also clamber unsteadily to their feet and begin attacking the living birds. "We have a necromancer in this city? How...peculiar..." Still, that was good news presently. Spying a bird headed toward the sun elf mage lady from behind, she kicked another bird to somersault through the air and stab said bird with her chakram from above, bringing it down to the pavilion. The half-elf didn't care whether the woman lived or died, but having a mage around was useful for the time being. The lady's blond head knight turned to face her at the sound of the impact, and she smirked even though she knew he couldn't see it with the scarf over her face. "Not a very good guard, are you?" the assassin taunted as she cartwheeled back into an upright position, pulling her chakram from where it was embedded in the dead bird and the pavilion floor as she did so, before leaping back into the mass of attacking birds without waiting to see a reaction. |
