My cat licks me more than my dog because my dog will only lick when there is food near him. My cat will lick me for everything. Even when I just put my hand near her to pet her. I have been told that she is an unusual cat though, so I don't know if that is a normal cat thing.

Captain Howdy 10-17-2009 09:34 PM

I agree, Tsukipon. I like cat licks. :3 The times when my cat will come up to me and nuzzle me and lick my hand it's like, "Ahhhh." ;D

Dog licks are all over the place. It's kinda gross.

Rupert_Lestrange 10-17-2009 10:25 PM

I honestly like both, so it would be really really hard for me to choose.
I love animals and would have several pets if I could afford to, and
had the space for them all. Not much I can squease into a one
Bedroom appartement. >_>

I'd hate to clean up hairballs.

I have never had to clean a hairball out of the 8 cats I have had in my lifetime.
There is special cat formula that helps cat prevent hairballs.
It's not exspensive. It's the same as regular cat good.

I'd hate to clean up hairballs.

I've got five cats, and I have never cleaned up a hairball in my life. There is pet food to control that for the animals.

I love cats & dogs. I want a dog currently, but I'm scared it won't like my cats. So I'm going to get a puppy & kitten when I move out.

I like cats because they're gentle, and solitary when they want to be. Well, rarely my cats. They always want to be petted or spoiled. And my cat will wake me by licking and nipping at my face, so he isn't too different from a dog.

I like dogs because they're more sporty, and I can go out with them safetly.

I like both big cats and dogs.

As for tricks, I've taught my cats too many. As Tsukipon said, our cat can play fetch, and tag. C:

But there aren't too many differences between cats and dogs. Dogs have more bills, but cats go through litter too.

You may have to clean up hairballs (although I've never done it), but you have to clean up after your dog too and bathe them

Cats, by far. I have an amazing cat ^^
However, I like dogs, so don't misunderstand.

Featherbrook 10-17-2009 10:45 PM

I prefer cats. Dogs "love" people by instinct, but cats have the same part of the brain as humans which processes emotions, and have been proven to be able to actually love their human friends and their kittens just like humans love family.

I know. With a dog and a cat, I've noticed that while my dog will come to me whenever I call him, he seems totally uninterested once he is sitting in my lap; whereas if my cat does come up to me, she really acts nice and cuddly like she really wants to be there instead of just coming out of habit or training.

i'm not sure if dogs are really like that. my mother-in-law's old chihuahua/pomeranian mix acts the way you describe cats. just like a lot of cats, she has her favorite people, too. she some-what likes me, she's terrified of my husband, and she down right loves my father-in-law. maybe it's because she's been around cats so much that it's rubbed off on her.
she also seems to really care about things, too. she seems to love kittens. there was week old feral kitten out here that lost it's mom, and our dog brought it out to us. she also checks up on the kitten we have outside now as much as i do, if not more.

I say, both! <3 They are all amazing, except for rats and mice... >.< But I really like animals, even though I only have two cats and one dog... 8D

I've had a lot of cats, and I've never had problems with hairballs. I've also never had problems with inappropriate clawing (I don't declaw, I find it inhumane) or spraying. I had a problem with middening for a while, but it turned out to be a diet problem (and the kitty has been happier than a peach ever since!)

I definitely prefer cats. People think they're difficult (or even impossible) to train because you can't train them the same way you train dogs. They can learn so much more than dogs though! You also don't have to worry about taking them outside (hooray for instinctual litterbox training!) or on walks or slobbering all over you.

Both of the kitties I have right now are smarter, more loving, and better behaved than any of my fiance's dogs (he can attest to that). My older cat will fetch, "sit pretty" (on his hind legs only), and can open the accordion door to my room (he hasn't figured out doorknobs yet, but I think that's for the best). The younger one is trained to jump up on shoulders like a perch. She also likes to watch me play Mass Effect (she loves the Mako!)

My fiance had 3 shih tzus and a blind and deaf retriever mix. The retriever was the only one that didn't relieve itself in the house (even though it was the youngest, and, y'know, blind and deaf). The retriever and one of the shih tzus got put down last year because fiance's mother couldn't take care of them (and we can't have dogs in the place we rent). The other two shih tzus were given to his mother's ex husband.

The only down side to any cat's I've had is that mine tend to be so freaking hyper. I love that they're active, but not at 3 in the morning! (but I guess this could be the same with dogs too)

Cats are just too...lazy. And they also have this evil aura about them.

I love dogs. They actually live up to their label as "Man's Best Friend."

i think it's cuz you're a dog person that cats seem to have an evil aura around them to you. i've noticed that cats can really tell if you like them or not. i'm a cat person, so cats naturally like me, or at least most do (the one at the moment who doesn't i think was abused). yet, i knew one girl who was a dog person, and she said cats would never come to her. i also have a friend who is more of a dog person, but loves animals in general. most cats don't come to her that much except for her cat.

fuyumi_saito 10-18-2009 08:48 PM

I will choose cats. Sweet cuddly animals.. Not very playful, or always happy to see you(unless they have that type of personality) but I really love cats. Dogs are good too. I would like a dog one day that gets along with cats.

I thought the same thing, because I love animals too, but I'm more of a dog person.
Like, I don't hate cats, and sometimes I've tried to get a cat to come to me.

There was only two cats that actually ever liked me.
One of them was very relaxed, and we always chilled when I went to my brother's ex's house. The other one [who lived there too] was very much begging for my attention lol. I liked her because she wasn't as lazy as most cats I've seen.

Any other time, I can get a cat to think about trusting me, but it's very difficult.

kittykatt89 10-19-2009 03:55 AM

i like cats the most. they are easier to take care in my opinion. i like dogs too but i am mostly a cat person.

cashuea 10-19-2009 04:06 AM

I am a cat person <3 Not only are they easier to take care of, they are alot friendlier too and wont wake you up at night with consistent barking.

Zombilicious 10-19-2009 08:04 AM

I don't really favor one over the other. I like both and I've had both.

chrom0 10-19-2009 08:13 AM

I love them both, but i favor cats. xD

Krendanya 10-19-2009 08:21 PM

Keyori, I hear you with the 3 in the morning bit, my cat will sleep all day and run circles around my sleeping form at night.

I prefer cats, we always had kittens growing up but I never really bonded with any of them, then my boyfriend found a kitten in the walmart parking lot, super skinny and skittish, I dont know how he caught her. But I kept her and she is so entertaining and has never missed the litter box from day one. Whats really funny is that she will run from everyone, including my boyfriend, but she comes when i call her.

I dont really care for all the dog hair or licking that they tend to do. I want a dog someday, but for now my cat is enough for me.

HeartMoogle 10-19-2009 08:39 PM

Kitties are the best, but dogs are awesome too. I like cats more, though, because cats are cuter in my opinion. I also prefer their innate partial indepence over dogs' tendencies to stay glued to my heels, but both animals are terrific.

Greedy 10-19-2009 08:42 PM

I love cats :D they may not always love you like dogs, but they are sooooo adorable!!! :D

amulet 10-19-2009 08:46 PM

dogs! but cats are cool too

mocu 10-20-2009 03:25 AM

I love cats.
My dogs are honestly more trouble than they're worth. Both are lazy, and one's old.. and the other is just.. well, did I mention lazy?
My cat on the other hand.. he's the cutest thing ever.
But, he did try to drink out of the toilet this morning. That was funny.
