Josiah went to take a look around the tables, but sighed when he didn't see Odette anywhere. Guess something important had come up at the last minute. "Well, looks like she's not coming. Let's go." He changed direction toward the doors, holding one open for her out of habit.

"If you looked up more often, that might not happen as much," Josiah teased. He stopped at the curb and pulled out a small notebook from his pocket. He quickly scribbled his address on a page and tore it out, handing it to here. "Here you are. Hope to see you soon," he said with a wave as he walked off to his car.

Josiah stopped again to look back. Was this girl really serious? "Um, alright, just follow that one," he said, pointing an old red Cadillac parked nearby. He then continued on toward his car and got in, revving the engine a few times to get it going. Thing still sounded like crap. He'd probably never get it fixed it up right.

Getting into her old 1989 light blue Nissan Sentra, Katherine did her best to follow the Red Cadillac. Her car smelled of old laundry and had an incredible mess of papers and candles around, but it got her from place to place.

Josiah didn't drive far before coming to a nice three story house in one of the outer neighborhoods. He pulled in the driveway, making enough room for Katherine to park, and got out to wait for her on the porch.

Josiah unlocked the door and looked back at where she sat in her car. "You okay?" he called.

"Yeah, sorry... Um... do you... share this place with other people?"

Katherine got off the car, still staring at the house in front of her, but followed Josiah at long last.

"This is actually my dad's house. I keep a lot of stuff here because I can't fit it all in my apartment." Josiah led the way inside, closing the door behind them and walking into the spacious living room. The inside had a modern abstact theme to the decor, mostly silvers, whites, and blacks. Josiah walked over to a wide staircase and leaned over the side to look up. "Hey dad, you home?" he called. No one answered. Josiah shrugged and motioned for Katherine to come over. "Come on, I'll show you the studio," he said as he started up the stairs.

Katherine looked around in wonder.

"This place is huge..." she whispered, as she followed him around. "So... say I did decide to stay... what... exactly... would I be doing...? You're not an underwear designer or something."

Josiah laughed at her question. "The closest I ever got to that was a one piece swimsuit, and Odette took over on that so I wouldn't go too crazy with it." He got to the top of the stairs and then went straight down the hall to another staircase. The hall was plain with light wooden panels and tan carpet. The only decor was a flower shaped light that hung in the middle of the hall. Josiah looked at it with a smile as he passed.

"That little light has quite a story behind it. When my dad first bought the house for my mom, they fought over whether it should be a square or a flower. Mom won of course. She wanted a tiny bit of nature to break up the monotone, as she put it."

"I like your mom then... seems to have a good sense of things... Life would not exist as we know it without plants... or without cyanobacteria who changed the world into oxigen-dependant.."

Josiah stopped with one foot on the bottom step, looking back at her curiously. "Cyno-oxi what?"

'Cyanobacteria are small bacteria that are able to fix carbon into glucose, liberating oxigen as a by-product. They are the predecessors of the chloroplasts in plants" she explained, as if it was the most natural things in the world.

Josiah gazed at her blankly. "Right...well, up here is the studio," Josiah said as he turned to continue up the stairs.

"Oh, right..." she said, following him. "You didn't understand a word I said, did you...?

"Ehehe...no, not really," Josiah admitted. He stepped out onto the studio landing. Around the large room was set several easels, large and small, with canvas' piled around them. There were also twice as many mannequins dressed in different types of clothes. Tall rolls of every type and color of fabric imaginable filled in the rest of the spaces that were left. In the very center of the room was set a circular wooden platform used for modeling.

"Thank you. I'll go ahead and call Odette while you look around. Don't be afraid to speak up if you have any suggestions either." Josiah got out his cellphone and started dialing.

Josiah ignored her for a moment as he filled in Odette quickly on all that had happened. He then snapped the phone shut and turned his attention back to Katherine. "Yes, she's been my friend for years, and when we started in fashion design together she wanted to model my designs as well as her own." He walked up beside her and looked over her shoulder at her notepad. "What's that you're writing?"

"Oh, just some suggestions" she responded. "Your designs are good, but they gave me a few ideas for my own characters..."
