"Well, really it will depend on how quickly you can sort." She chuckled softly. I"ve put in to get a few more to help go through this madness but haven't had any luck until you came along." She set Jeremiah's file aside and began looking through others. Most of them she found had just been improperly coded and most of them were still around and she put their files in the right boxes. Suddenly in the quite of the office she heard a faint rumbling and looked up to see Marcel call his stomach a "traitor", looking over at the clock she realized it was well past lunch. setting down the file in her hands she stood and stretched her back and wings. I think it's time we take a break and have some lunch. Wouldn't you agree? She smirked at Marcel and waited for his reply.

Giovanni nods when she mentions food. "All right." He sets the papers down and brushes his hands off. He waits patiently for her to be ready.
|
Once he set his papers down Lilith walked over to the door and held it open so he could exit. Once through she closed the door behind them both and locked it. Not that she was worried about anyone seeing anything they shouldn't but more that she was worried about them vandalizing the place. It had happened several times before. "You've got several choices on places to eat around here... Gesturing off to her left There's Chinese, Mexican, and a Japanese sushi house that way... Pointing to the right And there's Greek, Italian, and Mediterranean that way. She then turned and headed off toward a secluded section of woods where she always ate at.
|
Goivanni chewed his lip before heading into the sushi house. He ate quickly and went back out. He milled around the area contently, while waiting. He'd never been around there--well, that he could remember, so he wanted to explore a bit. He made sure to stay close to the warehouse, but wandered around. He hid as a few angels passed, seeming almost like he was afraid. Which he was, he was terrified of being attacked. He could still remember what is was like to be attacked by the demons, and didn't know what the angels would do to him.

Lilith made her way out of the city proper and to a secluded section of woods. Well.. she thought as she unwrapped some fruit. He'll probably have a bit better time fitting in than I do. Nibbling on her fruit she looked out through the trees and let her mind wander. Her thoughts fluttered around until they went back to the time when she knew Jeremiah.
He was the only one she knew who didn't hate her for her "odd" looks. He'd been the general of the angelic guard, he ha earned his rank through dedication and patience. He was always nice to her, even going so far as to help her load boxes in the warehouse if he was nearby. One day when he'd finished helping her he got an urgent call to go home but in his rush he'd dropped his ceremonial dagger. Picking it up Lilith had headed out to return it to him, knowing where he lived as he'd invited her to dinner once. When she got to his place she instantly knew something was wrong, to begin with all the shutters were closed tight. He'd always left them open, he loved the sun and fresh air. Slowly approaching the house she saw the door was open, pushing it gently she called out his name. When no answer came she rushed to alert the town guard. They quickly responded and checked the house, there was no sign of him...it was as though he'd disappeared. Shaking her head she quickly chased the memory away and reached down to her ankle to lay a hand on the dagger. In her worry to find out what happened she forgot she still had it until she returned home that night. Due to the strange circumstances of his disappearance she took to keeping it on her at all times. Looking up at the sky she realized lunch was almost over, finishing her fruit she tucked the napkin away and headed back toward the warehouse. |
One of the angels just stared at Giovanni with disdain. He cringed slightly until he noticed Lilith coming back. He scurried over to her and halfway hid behind her. He seemed a lot younger than he was when it came to confrontation. He watched as the angel's eyes followed him. The angel didn't trust him at all and seemed ready to attack him.

Lilith drew near the warehouse lost in her own thoughts until Marcel scurried over to her and partially hid behind her. Looking back at him confused she saw him staring past her and out toward the fountain. Turning her gaze, brows furrowed, she saw the object of his near frightened stare. There next to the fountain was the Jeremiah's replacement Gerard, golden hair cropped short in the militaristic fashion he had one hand on the sword at his waist. Gerard took his new post seriously, he had risen through the ranks quickly after what had happened and not by any noble means. He had planted evidence and falsely accused everyone. His tactics to Lilith seemed more demonic than angelic and he'd had a thing out for any angel that he didn't know.
Narrowing her eyes at him she spread her wings and blocked Marcel from Gerard's view. "Back off Gerard. He has obviously been approved by the council if he is working records with me. He is new to town yes, but that gives you no reason to hound him like this. He has as much right to be here as I do, if you have a problem take it up with them." Giving him a look that dared him to act out against her she pulled the key for the warehouse out of a pouch and handed it back to Marcel while keeping her eyes on Gerard. Speaking quietly "Quickly, open the door and get inside, once you're in there you're safe. There are only a few who may clear this door and they have to be given permission by either the council or myself." |
(D: Giovanni's such a puss. But, he's adorable, so he's forgiven. XD)
Giovanni took the key and scurried into the warehouse. He went to the back corner and hid there for a moment, trying to calm down. How he ever managed to become an assassin was beyond him. He feared confrontation, so much. Once he calmed down, he peeked out and watched them talk, curious. |
(Aww..Lol)
Gerard scowled as he watched Lilith protect the whelp. "How dare you interfere with official business. I have been ordered to keep an eye on him." It wasn't quite the truth but it was close enough that it suited Gerard. He didn't like anyone new coming into town without his knowledge, if he had his way the council would have to refer to him at all times before admitting new citizens. It was bad enough "she" was here. In his mine those who didn't have blonde, white, or brown hair were freaks and should be made to live in camps in the wilds. Heaven should be a utopia and if he had his way it would be soon enough. Lilith snorted at Gerard's statement, while she really didn't have any "Powers" she could tell he was lying. She had spoken with Jeremiah enough about the angelic force that his duty was to actually keep an eye on suspicious activity, not newcomers. Keeping her wings spread out she folded her arms across her chest defiantly. "That's a load of rubbish and we both know it. You job is to watch for suspicious activity, not scare newcomers who might be a touch different." She could feel her anger slowly bubbling up inside and suddenly her sight grew dim as it always did when she got real mad. "It's bad enough they've vandalized this place to the point I had to get the charm and left horrible notes for me to find. I can deal with it but no one else should have to. She watched Gerard's look change from irritated to wary. Huffing at her he finally relented under that strange stare of hers. "Fine." he released his sword and jabbed one finger in her direction. "However I'm putting him down as your charge. He steps one toe out of line and I'll be coming for you." Turning he stormed off in the opposite direction. Once Gerard was out of sight Lilith's shoulders slumped a little and she folded her wings back in. Sighing she shook her head and turned to find Marcel just inside the doorway peeking out. |
Giovanni watched them talk, feeling bad. It was all his fault. He moved back when she turned around though, feeling like a eavesdropper. He slid against the wall, still worried. He knew he could defend himself, but that would ruin his cover. He played with his fingers, thinking.
|
Once he moved out of the way Lilith entered and shut the door behind her. How in the nine can the council not see the dark ambition in his heart? She sighed and shook her head. Gerard had been after her for years and had never found a valid reason to take her in...until now. She'd wasn't sure yet what to do about the boy. Looking to her right she saw him up against the wall playing with his fingers. Kneeling down next to him she thought is was due to worry about Gerard that he was sitting as he was. "Don't let him get to you. He's just a pompous ass that does this to anyone he deems doesn't "fit in" to his idea of what heaven should be."
|
"He has a Utopian ideology," he reiterated, quietly. He sighed, closing his eyes. He glanced up at her. "Sorry for causing issues for you," he murmured. He looked around the warehouse, feeling awkward. He looked for something to fill the silence.
|
Lilith smirked, so she wasn't the only one that could see what Gerard wanted. "It's alright, he got excited he had a new "target" in town to aim at." Shaking her head a bit she had a sudden thought. "Where are you staying tonight? Did they set you up with some lodging?" Occasionally the council would send in a new worker someplace but forget they might not have a place to sleep.
|
Giovanni thought about that. "Uh, nope." He scratched his head sheepishly, looking embarrassed. He mentally cursed at his master, fuming about him not mentioning that little fact. He fidgeted a little bit, trying to figure out what to do.
|
Lilith smirked as she watched Marcel's cheeks flush from embarrassment. "Don't feel too bad. The council is getting old even by angelic standards and they commonly forget new people might not have housing." Pausing she thought for a moment before she looked around a bit uncomfortably. "If you don't mind further placing yourself as an outcast I've got a guest room you could stay in until the council arranges something for you." she offered quietly, unsure what he might think.
|
Giovanni suddenly looked amused. "I'm missing an arm and a wing, and have red eyes. I don't think I can get much more outcastly." The idea of that amused him, though. "But, sure. I don't mind." He had no issue with it, after all, it helped him. Not like he'd tell her that though.
