"I missed you too." he said back before he continued to kiss her. He stopped after a while only because he heard a women cough. He blinked a few times as he looked out and at his friend Sam.

"King you really should save this behavor for your bed chambers. Not in public where people will most definitely start talking about it." he said as he walked up to him casually. The man just laughed to himself as he looked at the kings redding face. He really couldn't believe that the king would act like this but then again he hadn't known him for that long.

"Sorry." he started as he helped Alex out of his lap and smiled as he stood. "I should get some rest anyway. And you should to Alex." he said as he kissed her forehead this time a little embarrassed to do more with others around. He really didn't want to have to start dealing with rumors and didn't want to hurt her reputation.

Alex glowered at the man that had interrupted her time with the King. She hadn't seen the man for over two years, and now they were interrupted for stupid reasons? This made her angry! She huffed in irritation, but she would be glad to return to her home and change out of this awful dress. "I'm leaving." She remarked over her shoulder as she departed from the room.

"Bye." Arctic called as she left. He smiled till he heard the door close after him. "Did you really have to stop us? You couldn't have waited till I was finished?" he asked as he glared at the man.

Sam laughed harder as he held his stomach then calmed down. "Because I don't want to have to be your watch dog. Next time take it to the chambers." he said as he crossed his arms and then smiled more. "Seems like your on friendly terms with that girl." he said with a grin. "How far have you gotten with her my king?" he asked

"SAM!" he said as his face turned a red color. He couldn't believe he was being talked to like this. "I loved the girl since were were kids but she changed after my accident and I haven't spoken to her in two years." he said as he flailed around a bit and Sam only laughed again. They talked for a little bit after and then he went to his room to get a good nights rest.

When Alex arrive home she was pleased to take off her painful heels and dress, and slip into bed. When she awoke it was time to get back to work. Last night seemed like a distant dream and she had awoken to reality. The King was not part of her life anymore, she was a guard to a very rich merchant, she didn't even work in the palace anymore, nor live there. Maybe some day she would see him again, but for now she was headed to the offices of Samuel Kane, to guard the man through the day.

The king awoke the next morning feeling a little like crap. He didn't want to get out of his bed and he just wanted to hide for the day. He pulled the sheets around him more as he sighed. He knew that she wouldn't be there when he woke up, and when he did wake up he just wanted to return to sleep. He wanted to have another ball just so that he could see her again. He hid his face in some pillows when Sam came in the room to get him since the maids had been told to leave and they couldn't disobey and order like Sam could.

"You lazy bones~!" he said as he walked over to the bed, stood up on top of it, and proceeded to push the king out with his foot. "Stop being so anti social and get ready for the day already. Its well past noon already!" he yelled as he looked down at the king with his hands on his hips.

Arctic looked up at him and glared a little before he stood up. "Leave me alone Sam. I'm not in the mood for this." he said as he walked away from him and into the bathroom. He really didn't want the man to bother him today. But it looked like he wasn't going to get his way as Sam pushed him into the now freezing bath water. "WHAT THE HELL SAM!" he screamed at him when he flipped himself over so that he wasn't drowning in the water.

"Oh, I thought you said you needed help getting ready for the day. My mistake sir. Now if you'll excuse me. I have real work to do. Unlike you Mr. pouting king." he said as he turned on his heals and left the king pouting in the bath water. He decided to take this chance and go find that girl that seemed to make the prince happy.

Alex passed the day checking around the premises for threats. Surprise, surprise, there were none. Samuel was a many of much money and even more years. In his old age he had taken to being slightly paranoid, and that's where Alex came in, completely unnecessarily. Oh well, it led to an easy day and a fat paycheck so she didn't really care. She returned to the house, sitting in a chair in the old man's office. Waiting for the day to be over.

Sam walked into the room and looked down at Alex. "You are a very annoying and expensive person to find." he said as he put one of his guards in her place and took her hand. "I request your help with the king. He's being stupid and wont leave his bed chambers. I would like you to get him out and to an important meeting that he has to go to later today." he said as he looked at the sun and determined that they had another hour or so before he had to be there. They had time. But he wanted him in his thrown room by now. Not moping in his bed chambers.

Arctic had dragged himself out of bed and stripped form the soaking wet cloths that he had on. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist before he slipped back under the sheets and stuck his face into the pillow once more.

A few of the maids were gossiping how the king must have fallen in love but the girl he liked rejected him.

"Yeah, who said you could touch me?" She asked, snapping her hand out of the other man's grasp. "I'm working right now, and the King should be too." Alex said, stepping away from the stranger and shooing another stranger out her spot. "If he's not, that sucks, but it's really not my problem. Remember, I don't work for you people anymore." She added, happily back in her seat. "Now go. You're interrupting my employers work."

"Fine. I guess I was mistaking. He wouldn't like a snob like you." he said as he left with the man that he'd arrived with. This was going to be a difficult day. He let a soft sigh leave his lips as he jumped back onto his horse and started to ride off.

The king ended up falling back to sleep hugging a pillow close to his chest.

The next day was Alex's day off, so she awoke late. Thinking of her visit from the previous day, she decided to visit the castle. When she arrived at the gate, some guards barred her path. "You can't enter here" They said.

"What are you? New?" She asked, literally baffled at their stupidity. "Yeah, go get your boss. My name's Alex Jacques, and I'm pretty sure that you're going to want me to let me in." Once that was worked out Alex proceeded forward into the castle until she was at the King's door. She turned to the guard posted outside, "Tell him I'm here."

They looked down at her and their eye brows rose at the same time as the shrugged and just opened the door. "Its not like your a stranger and he's not answering or even leaving his bed. Sam can't even get the him." the man with the black star on his helmet said as he moved to the side so she could walk in.

Arctic was still in his towel curled in his sleep. He had a fluffy white pillow wrapped in his arms and his cheeks were a little flushed from the fact that it had been chilly all night so he had a slight fever from it but would be fine. He moved under the blankets moving under them more and hiding his head.

Alex sat down on the bed gently, kicking off her shoes and slipping under the covers. "I can see why you'd sleep all day baby, this is one comfortable bed." She said snuggling up to Arctic's prone form.

Arctic felt something sold shifting closer to his body and it slowly started to wake him up. He blinked a few times as he rubbed at his eyes as he slowly turned his body to look down at her. He blinked a few more times as he sat up forgetting about his cloths situation. All he really cared about was the fact that she was actually here again. He lifted his right hand and slowly ran it across her cheek as a small smile appeared on his pale lips. He slowly leaned forward after hesitating slightly then let his lips fall on her just wanting to feel it was real. He would be upset if he found when he kissed her it was just his body acting up. But when he felt those soft lips of hers his smile grew as did his kiss.

Alex responded to the King's kiss slowly but happily. This was the man that she had loved for so long as she was finally near to him again, basically in his arms. "Mmm, Arctic. I missed you." She muttered, before shifting slightly so that he body was even closer to his. After she had been kissing him for what seemed like hours, but was barely long enough to satisfy her, she slid out of the kiss to lay back down. "Come on you, we can't just kiss like a couple of kids. You're the King. I came by now since I couldn't yesterday. One of your guys came by my work to get me yesterday. I have a serious job I can't just go running off whenever I want to. And you have an even more serious job, so you really can't either." She said, hoping that illustrated the lesson that the King needed to learn. She went back to kissing his neck, rubbing against him sensually.

Arctic blushed slightly and only caught a few of her words. "Its hard to think of anything when my love is away from me. I've had to suffer two years without you. I think its only natural that I'm slightly selfish." he said as he pulled her closer and sighed letting her sent fill his nose. "I want you back in my kingdom. Please." he pleaded as he lifted his head and looked deep into her eyes hating how they weren't close.

Realizing that she was distracting the King she stopped moving and turned to the man, grabbing his face and looking directly into his eyes. "I love you Arctic. But I don't know what you want from me." She pulled away from the man and sat up in the bed, "I can't be your bodyguard ever again. Not being able to protect you was what drove us apart in the first place." She moved out of the bed and began to stand, "So, I don't see how I can be in your life. You have your job and I have mine. Tell me how we can still be as close as we want to be?"

Arctic felt his heart start to ache as he looked at her face as she struggled with her own thoughts. He slowly slipped out of the bed, not fully realizing that he was naked at the time, and placed a hand gently on her cheek. "Everyone in this castle knows that the reason why you no longer protect me...I cant live with out you Alex. I can't. I'd rather give the thrown to Sam then let you leave my side once again." he said as he felt tears slipping down his cheeks. "Please. Marry me. Become my wife so I never have to let you out of my sight...no my arms ever again." he said was he wrapped his arms gently around her smaller frame. He pulled her close to him and just held her. "Don't leave me." he begged.

Alex froze, at first disorientated by the King's naked body then by his proposal. "King...." She began, extricating herself from his embrace, trying to keep a modicum of decency between them. "I haven't spent any significigant time with you in years. We don't know each other anymore. I can't marry a memory." This was hard for her, she loved the King so much, but he wasn't a bright eyed prince anymore, he had some hardness now. And she certainly did. "I'll be your girlfriend. Then maybe someday, we can be something more."

"But if your my girlfriend then you'll leave my side..." he said with a slight disappointment to his voice. He didn't want her to leave him. Marrying him was really the only way she was going to stay with him. "We can talk all night and day if that will help you. I'll tell you anything and everything you ask me." he said as he ran his fingers softly through her hair and held her shaking a slightly. He didn't want to cry anymore then he already had.

He grabbed his face suddenly, pushing their heads together so there was almost no space between their eyes. "I love you. And I'm not going anywhere. But I'm not going to become a Queen because you don't want me to leave you. I will be here. I am not going to leave you. But I'm not going to marry you right now either Arc." She said, looking deeply into her love's eyes.

Arctic wrapped his arms around her and ran a finger softly over her cheek. "But I will hate it when your not by myself and in danger..." he said as he gently kissed her and pulled her closer. She couldn't help but to want to move closer to her and hold her close to him. He loved the feel of her body and the way his heart felt against hers.

Alex had to almost laugh with concentration at the love and cliginess of the deafened king. "I love you, but I won't be your wife just because you ask me. You are a King not a God." She said snuggling with him, but when she started to get too hot she let go. "And don't worry, I won't be in danger, I'm a bodyguard remember?" She said, tussling his hair while chuckling.

"But I'll take you out on a date. How's that. Little one?" She asked, before kissing him passionately.

He kissed her back and pouted slightly. "I'll take you out on a date. I'm the king." he said as he ran his fingers softly over her cheek. "But I do want you working closer to me. I have to have you at least in the castle can't I?" he asked as he looked down at her with pleading eyes. He was really hating this. Why hadn't he told her how he'd loved her before. Maybe this wold have been better.

Alex had to laugh at the King's antics. "What job is there for me in the castle?" She asked, kissing him again. "I have my own job and so do you, now get to it oh King of mine!" She said, mock shooing him out the door. "A whole country is waiting for you. I'm just one of many." She broke their embrace and sat down in a nearby chair. "I'll make you a counteroffer though. If you can find me some kind of job in the palace I'll think about taking it. Meanwhile I promise to not have any thoughts for any guy but you. I'm promised to you King, but I won't marry you in less this works out. Deal?"

Arctic pouted a bit as he looked down at her. "Fine. I'll make you the leader of my armies. There. You have a job. Your my general. I know all my men like you and know that you'll lead them right in battle, that and it doesn't seem like anyone ever wants to win when they fight against us." he said as he leaned forward and ran his fingers over her cheek and then down through her hair. "Why do I love someone that doesn't want marry me right away?" he asked as he slowly pushed her down onto the bed. "I love you so much." he told her.
