Cyr took a step back. It was as if the sheer power of Vos's words were enough to move her physically back. She was quiet for a moment, just looking up at the silver haired, grey eyed man. "I-I'm sorry." She apologized. Although Cyr did not really have anything to be sorry for. Offering the help that man was really so bad. She nodded as his voice got even calmer, but she said nothing more. Cyr started to head back to her wagon as soon as the heavy flap to the main tent closed. Cyr of coarse checked on her horses before stepping foot inside of her wagon.
Once inside she changed out of her working clothes and into one of her show dresses. This time she wore blue. In an area outside of the camp, she had found many blue wild flowers. Those she put into her hair after she was finished french braiding it. The flowers she found were forget-me-nots. Or at least that was what one of the other carnies told her. It did not take a lot of preparation for Cyr to get ready. She headed back outside. Jumping the fence, her dress had shorts under it so no one would see a thing, and gathering her show horses for that night. The ones who would be running tonight would be Kaylee, Honey and Grayson. Casey would be staying behind. She only hoped Lethal would not mention it. Or become angered by it. She climbed on Kaylee's back. Holding the rope that connected to Honey and Grayson. Cyr was barefoot I may add. She had only wore slippers a few times, and after a bad fall she refused to wear shoes while performing. Cyr started to move the horses towards the main tent. Getting ready for it to begin. |
(( Poor Cyr! Vos is just a butt! :illgetu:
I'll get a post in eventually .. . . but Es is busy now! :XD)) |
((No worries! Are we the only two left in this? I was holding off posting for Romeo so RainbowMuffinage could reply to his creepiness. Btw, did you get my message on your profile?))
|
((:XD I haven't read all my messages yet. I'll get to that ASAP!
As for everyone else. . . . . RainbowMuffinage:, deary! Are you still with us?)) |
Demicora ran from her dressing room as fast as she could. Her costume had finally finished being put on, but she had no makeup. Lethal would kill her if she were to miss her cue. She had to be up on the beam soon without anyone noticing or else she would be in great trouble. She went to her mirror and quickly applied the makeup correctly to make her shine up on stage. It wasn't hard. As she ran through the tent, she noticed a bunch of the girls had not gotten ready. Should she tell them that the show was about to start? Without a word, she stalked through the tent until she came upon this giant water tank. Of course she didnt know that someone was in it, nor what it was used for, but used it to hide herself from the other performers out of sheer shyness.
In a few minutes, under cover of smoke and while everyone else was distracted, she would have to put her black cloak on and climb up the later to her crows nest were a thin wire lay in wait for her performance as acrobat and dancer. In the middle of the thin wire a ribbon would wall that she would slowly let herself down by. She had to remember all of this to make sure that this performance was perfect. If it wasnt, the next act would not be introduced correctly. Once she would be all the way down the ribbon, it would fall on her and she would have to do a quick change into dancer's outfit which would be hidden in the pocket of the ribbon and easy to slip on. Everything had to be remembered so that it looked like magic, though it wasnt. |
Calysto had a small smirk on her lips as several girls rushed to finish getting ready. This was why her appearance was kept simple. Besides no point on lace and frills when they could catch fire. The simpler the better. Calysto took several deep breaths and held her hoop and batons, ready for her name to be called. The fire girl had plenty of matches covering her person that starting the fires is the easy part. but there was no denying she was eager to hear her introduction. The sooner Lethal called on her the sooner she could step away and hide in her shadows only occasionally seen. It was were she felt most comfortable.
|
Approaching the gates, moving through the unwashed crowd were a trio of very out of place individuals. Out of place in that they were finely dressed in uniforms of black leather and cloth with silver trimmings seemingly denoting military rank. They each carried long, dueling blades at their sides and a perceptive ear could hear the sound of chain mail shifting with their movements beneath their jackets. The man in the middle also wore a hat and had a strange, metal gauntlet on his right hand. He also had a polite smile on his face as the three of them approached Lethal, politely tipping his hat slightly as he said, "Good evening madame, my name is Sergeant Pepper, may we have a word with you in private?"
|
((Here comes the lonely hearts band. . . . :XD LOL))
"First performer is on now!" Lethal stuck her head into the tent beside the big top, wondering where the said performer was. It was customary to start the show out with an eye-opener . . . and this time it wasn't going to be Lethal's speech. This time it was going to be a performance. Just as the ringleader stepped back, sighing quietly to herself, someone caught her eye. In fact, several someones caught her eye. "You either have horrible manners," Lethal's duel-colored eyes narrowed, and she eyed the tall male warily, "or an uncannily horrid sense of timing. The show is beginning now." Then, Lethal seemed to get a hold on herself. "Welcome to the Lethal Parade. Is there something I can do for you?" - Cyan bumped against the side of the tank lightly, eying Demicora with a smile. He was a mischievous one, and occasionally got a thrill out of making others squirm. Rarely did he ever get the chance. As he caught the girl's eye, the merman drifted to the surface and looked down over the side of the tank. "Why are you hiding?" |
Demicora squeaked, jumping from the sudden sound of the voice that seemed to come from nowhere. She looked around quickly trying to see where it could have come from. There was no sign of the sourse. That was when she looked at the tank she had been standing next to. Her eyes slowly went onto the figure that seemed to be there. All she could really see was a set of fins. They made her wonder about the fish person she had always heard of. Of course, she had never seen the creature, but she was sure it was just like all the other mutations that were in the carnival.
As she slowly moved her eyes up ont he fins, she could tell that it was definitely not a mutation, but rather an actual merman. Her mouth went open and she almost dropped to the ground. Of course, she finally noticed that she had her mouth wide open and her eyes gaping as well. Quickly, she closed her mouth and her eyes, then cleared her throat, backing up a bit. "I... I... Don't really know anyone...." She said shyly as she looked away from him. |
"Didn't know anyone was here?" Cyan's smile was a bit less happy. "Well, in Lethal's terms, no one is. Just . . . me." He wasn't considered "human," and the merman knew he wasn't. Still, he had no rights here. He was not just a prisoner, but more a pet. An animal in a cage, despite his ability to speak. "If you're here, then you've at least met someone."
Cyan paused, hesitating. "I'm sorry for startling you." His blue eyes took the girl in, and her costume made him smile. "You're one of the performers, aren't you?" Cyan tossed a wet lock of blue hair from his face before shifting his hold on the side of the tank. Resting his chin over his forearms, the male smiled a bit. "Don't forget to pick up your chin." Her mouth was hanging open again. People usually had that kind of reaction to Cyan. It was one of the reasons Lethal had taken him from his previous owner. He was real. |
Demicora looked up at him. "Your different from the others.... like a... really nice person." She said, stopping herself from going backwards. With a bit of self assurance, she walked closer to the tank and touched him. "I'm the acrobat, gymnast and dancer.... Mostly acrobat and dancer on ropes if you know what i mean." She looked over at the edge of the tent and back to the merman. "Is..... Is it ok if i... come to visit after my number?" Of course, she had to get to her position.
With a nervous smile, she curtseyed to him and ran to the ladder that she always had to climb. She climbed it as quickly as she could, stopping halfway to look back at the merman and smile. Finally, she reached the top. Before going through the tent flaps at the top of the crows nest, she put on a black cloak. This was so that the audience wouldn't see her. She crawled out out onto the plank and remained low as the workers pulled it out of the way to make it look as though she had just appeared in place. |
Though he was looking down at the woman, she still reached up and touched his arm. The tank was far taller than her, a good couple feet so, but Demicora had been brave enough to come forward. "An acrobat and dancer," Cyan said, smiling as he felt her warm fingers touch his wet skin. It made him shiver lightly, sending a light wave to the edges of the tank. His blue eyes met hers as she backed away.
"If you remember," Cyan called quietly after her. She could come back if she remembered to do so. A lot of people had said that: they never came back. ((Okay . . . so I have no clue who goes on first. Someone want to just pick something?)) |
((You can call Cyr if you want. Or Romeo. xD Or both, one right after another So I can post for both at the same time.))
|
((Makes sense to me!))
Reylin stood, finally fixing the light just as the audience began to pour in. It was unusual that Lethal didn't approach the stage, but that must mean there was a starting performance. As no one began to come up, Vos' pale eyes narrowed. He headed for the front of the big top, seeing that Lethal was busy. Instead of bothering her, he went to the first performers: Cyr and Romeo. "You're up. Lethal's busy." The silver-haired male glanced at Cyr's performing outfit with an approving nod. "The crowd is mostly seated. Get started." His blunt words were, as always, bordering on cruel. |
Cyr was a bit startled with Vos came out. She was first? But she was never first! There was a new set of butterflies in her stomach she had killed off before. Vos's harsh tone did not help either. But that was just how he was. Just how she was shy and vulnerable. She nodded towards Vos. "Thank you Vos." Cyr said sweetly. Taking Kaylee to the entrance of the tent. Stage hands would be holding Honey and Grayson off stage until it was their que. her music started up, and Cyr rode into tent at top speed.
Kaylee, becoming excited by the people, started to move faster than what Cyr would have liked, but Once she got her balance, Cyr began her small tricks. Using her legs to hang off the sides of Kaylee while she rode around the tent. They were very simple tricks at first. Cyr would move to one side of Kaylee, hanging her entire body off, holding off with just her leg. Finally the music began to pick up, within the flash of an eye, Cyr had climbed underneath Kaylee, and onto Honey. Honey joined the circling around the tent while the crowd began their applause. But Cyr was not done just yet. Now that she had a more experienced horse underneath her. Cyr began more acrobats. Standing on one leg, hand stands, and finally starting to stand up on Honey. She was standing perfectly straight, when she jumped. The music cut out for a split second while Cyr flipped threw the air, appearing to land on nothing but the hard ground. Suddenly, Grayson came out of no where, and Cyr landed just where she had been on Honey. Grayson though, trained well he was, would appear startled as Cyr jumped into his back. He moved to the middle, and began to buck. Cyr, finding her place, Jumped as high as her strong legs would carry her. Kaylee moved in front of Grayson, giving him her back to rest his front hoofs on. This was how her section of the show ended. Cyr twirled in the air, landing featherly on top of Grayson's head while he and Kaylee kept pose. The music ended as Cyr took her final pose. Arms stretched out. Suddenly, she twirled off of Grayson, never wanting to hold the post too long on him, she landed on Honey's back. Waving to the audience as- === A cloud of smoke suddenly filled the room. As Romeo took Center stage. He had a smug smile. He raised his arms as doves came fluttering out Searching for the stage hands waiting outside to take them and feed them. Romeo did not speak durning his performance. Mainly because Lethal told him to stop speaking in riddles, or stop speaking all together. So he took the extreme. Romeo took his top hat off, bowing to the audience on every side before setting his hat down on a table. He began to reach inside of it, pulling a rabbit out of it. He got a few giggles from children in the audience. Romeo reached into his hate a few times. One of the times, pulling out a pair of underwear, where one of the carnies came onto the stage, and angrily pulled them away. What the audience did not know, is that he was not really supposed to do that. Like at all.... Romeo pulled a few volunteers from the audience, instructing them to lay on their backs. He lifted his hands, and slowly all of the volunteers began to levitate. With a large hoop, he passed it threw each person, showing the crowd they were in fact levitating. A few of the faces in the crowd were that of fear. He chuckled a bit, allowing the volunteer's to return to their families. There was only so much Romeo could do each show, before people allowed their fear to take over. Wanting him dead. Demanding he be put down. In another cloud of smoke, he was gone. === Cyr, once outside of the ten was still walking her horses around. Getting their heart rates back down to normal. |
Out of Romeo's smoke came the image of twirling fire. Calysto walked calmly out for the crowd to see, in her hands were her batons, the ends already ablaze. Taking her stance, she began to twirl and dance with the flaming sticks. Her red hair seemed to take on the nature of fire, as it blazed around her face. Her routine was a mixture of dancing and Asian inspired martial arts.
Tossing both batons into the air she smirked and twisted her body to corkscrew in the center ring, swinging her feet around to land on gracefully, catching both batons. Putting them together in front of her face, she blew at the flames, creating 'Dragon Fire' as she called it. The flames licked outwards and seemed to crawl over the floor, until reaching the carefully placed hoops. She tossed the batons to the tent edge, knowing a stage hand would grab it for her. Now around the center were these columns of fire. Taking a Running start, Calysto did a cartwheel, picking up the first hoop. With it in both hands, the redhead tossed it into the air, a little ahead of her, cartwheeled to the next hoop, and caught the first one. Once she had collected all four hoops, She did one more toss and cartwheel to center stage. Catching the hoops, 2 in each hand, she made a little bow and tossed the hoops out. As the audenice focused on the flaming hoops hitting the ground, the fire going out, and the hoops sliding into the shadows to be picked up by a stage hand, Calysto made her exit. She smiled as she left the tent. Everything went perfect. ((Sorry about jumping in. Romeo's smoke just seemed like the perfect entrance.)) |
(ill post when i can. I have to go for now though. SOrry ive been busy))

All the lights dimmed as the fire went out until all the lights moved towards the top of the tent. There stood a cloaked figure who seemed to be moving very slowly off the plank at the top. The audience's eyes trained on the figure. One of the girls in the audience screamed as the others gasped when the cloaked figure took a step off the plank, but never fell. The cloak was pulled off by a string as if an invisible person pulled it off, revealing a girl in a brightly colored outfit.
She did a couple cartwheels then layouts till she got to the middle of the clear wire she was on. The audience cheered. Landing on her hands, she showed off her acrobatic skills until a large ribbon started to descend upon her. She decided her quick change was going to be right then, when the ribbon was on top of her for no one could see her. She quickly changed into the dress, almost instantly and started to fall. The audience was amazed at how the girl had changed so quickly, but gasped as she fell. She grabbed the ribbon and started to do a ribbon dance, holding it and swinging from it. Some of the stage hands grabbed the bottom of the ribbon and started to twirl it as she held onto it, being as straight as possible. The ribbon itself gleamed in the small amount of light illuminating the arena. She spun around the ribbon as the stage hands stopped the ribbon from moving too much. Moving upside down, she did the splits as the bottom of the skirt seemed to be attached to the gold anklets around her feet. The girl slid down the ribbon very carefully as she used her abs to hold her sideways on it once more. Then her legs held her to the ribbon until the ribbon itself fell with the girl close to the ground. She flipped off and landed on her feet, beginning to dance a regular dance. Then she took the ribbon, spun with it around her and she disappeared, making the crowd gasp and applaude, though some whispered of witchcraft. The girl made it to the edge of the tent without being seen, just as planned. When she did exit, she walked back towards where her hiding place had been so she could complete her promise she had told the fish man. Walking up to the tank, she smiled as she looked at the water, in her dress. "I'm back! Just as promised." She said excitedly. |
Calysto put away her hoops and batons. She was actually smiling. Anyone that saw her got a little worried. Calysto rarely smiled, and never after a show. After a brief talk with the stage hands about the removal of her props, she rushed outside. Hurrying out of the tent, she walked proudly down the boardwalk towards Cyan's tank. As she walked she absently struck and blew out some matches, until she looked up about 30 ft away and saw another performer by Cyan's tank. She recognized her as the acrobatic...Cora, thats her name. Calysto couldn't recall ever actually speaking with her, but perhaps she could be social, if Cora was also a friend of Cyans. With a sigh, she smiled and walked over. "Hello Cora, Hi Cyan." She reached into her boot and pulled out a clear bag. I figured out a way to give you matches without them soaking." The bag had an airtight seal, inside was a full book of matches.

(( I love everyone's posts!! I wish I could reply to them. . . . but. . . . .
Is there anyone who hasn't performed yet? I might have Hannah ditch her new friend and end the show! *laugh*)) Cyan heard the crowd, but from where his tank was he could see nothing. He hovered in the middle of the water, smiling slightly. One of these days, he wanted to see the actual performance. Someday. The merman had just slipped under the comforting silence of the water when Demicora approached. For a few seconds, the blue-haired youth didn't move. He merely rested along the bottom of the sand-covered ground, his eyes closed. It was the voice that could barely be heard through the water that caught his attention. The slits at the sides of his throat flickered as he breathed in. For a moment there he looked sort of . . . creepy. Cyan's unblinking eyes met hers, and when his hand pressed against the glass she could have sworn there were claws of some sort. Then, the moment broke. Cyan came to the surface, shaking warm water from his features. Resting his forearms on the side of the tank, he smiled down at the woman. "Back already? How did it go?" His blue eyes darted to Calysto as she approached. Something in Cyan's smile showed his excitement to see her again so soon. Rarely did he have this many conversations in one day. "Really?" The merman reached down to accept the second gift, his pale features full of curiosity. Cyan really did enjoy human objects. Fire was foreign to him, so it held particular interest. |
"Your show was amazing Cora. Your balance is incredible." Calysto smiled softly. Looking at the merman the girl winked. "Yep. When underwater just keep the bag sealed and they'll stay dry. If you ever want to practice lighting them, just let me know and I'll teach you." Calysto pulled a match from her hair, and slid it roughly against her thumb lighting the match. "Except I'll show you how to strike against the matchbook." She winked. "Well, I should go, sorry for interrupting." Calysto slid her hair off her shoulders and turned back to the tent.

((Ophelia hasn't! But I was gonna wait until you got her profile up... she can not go on tonight, I don't mind. I have a feeling Hannah wants to get away from her visitors more than go on with the show.)
|
((*purrs* No! I just .. . forgot to post her. :XD *runs off to do so* Thanks for reminding me!! :headdesk: Post with her, but . . . a pause in the middle as something goes wrong would be lovely! I want Vos back in this picture.))
|
((Goes wrong, eh? I think I can handle that.))
Ophelia watched from her perch in the big top's rigging as the other performers went on with their acts. Anticipation making her jumpy, she bent down to secure the ties of her slippers once more. The woman scoffed at her outfit- all tulle and ribbons and entirely impractical, but the crowd ate it up. Straightening, she took her first steps out onto the platform, and listened to the crowds cheers and applause quiet as they realized where the next act was. Ophelia smirked, knowing she was too far up for anyone in the crowd to see her expression. Oh yes, the waspish little beauty on the high-wire, facing mortal peril with every step. If there was one thing Ophelia knew, it was that people loved pretty things, and others endangering their lives in the name of entertainment. Hannah Lethal's circus had both, usually in each act. Ophelia drowned out the gasps and cheers of the crowd as she walked the tightrope. Smiling, she stopped about halfway across the rope, readied herself, and threw herself into the air, tucking into a ball and only uncurling after she'd done a full revolution and a half, landing perfectly on the rope with a metallic crunch. ...wait, crunch? The rope swayed dangerously beneath her feet, and Ophelia dared to peek over her shoulder. Her eyes went terrifyingly wide at what she saw. The rope was unraveling, and one of the clamps holding up the rig for her act was barely holding on. I will never make it to the platform, she realized, looking down. The ground suddenly seemed so very, very far away, and it seemed she would be meeting it very soon. Looking up, Ophelia's eyes widened as she realized that maybe- just maybe- she could jump high enough to reach the system of beams supporting all of the rigging. Ophelia bent her knees, and leapt straight into the air. ((Howzat for going wrong? Vos, come fix things! Also, if anyone's wondering what Ophelia's costume looks like: http://th00.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...is-d2e69oa.jpg)) If that's not what you had in mind, I can edit it. I know that this is NOT my best post |
Demicora jumped nearly out of her skin when the woman came up to her. She hid behind the tank and peered out as the woman talked to Cyan, giving him matches. Then she turned to her and said she had an amazing show. The girl smiled at her. There was only one problem with her show. As she walked along the wire she had been on, it had seemingly started to become unbalanced, like the wire was becoming unraveled. Maybe all the wires and ropes were becoming that way.
When the woman finally left, she just watched her leave. The fire woman was a very nice lady, Demi just couldnt figure out how to talk to anyone. "It went really well, i just kind of did somethings at a different time than usual. Are you going to be going on soon?" She asked a little timidly. (Sorry, its not my best post, but my brain isnt working.) |
