SERIOUSLY. READ ANITA BLAKE. Best fun series I've read. It's not amazing literary content, and all, the writing isn't AMAZING, but the story is fun, engaging, and awesome. ;3

(I prefer it to the Ann Rice series. BY FAR.)

It's set in modern time, just a few years or so in the future. Basically the background for the supernatural beings is "The government decided that they needed to stop covering it up, and form laws for the various supernatural beings. So they're part of normal civilization now"

XD It's really cool. They have jobs and everything. There's the "vampire church", and the "Supernatural Red Light District" for the people with a love for the supernatural, and Vampirism and Were-ism are diseases passed through the blood, and treated as such.
Then again, you can (once you're over 18) consent to being infected.
But the government still tends to put people in "houses" to "learn to be a were".. basically, once you're in, you don't get out. :c
So the weres help eachother out. to keep them from loosing control in public and changing. :3

Y'know what's good writing? Although barely supernatural at all...

But the Song of Ice and Fire books are really good.. >__>

Sadly, I don't think there's vampirism or lycanthropy involved... although there are some zombies at one point...

It's mostly just a medieval thing.. although there is a tiny bit of magic involved.

Vampires are totally sexy (in my opinion)...heh...heh...heh...

:insane:

Sagitar 06-02-2008 10:58 AM

I hate zombies :<
they are slow, and they growl and they have no real look in their eyes, and they come in biiig slow groups and will eat you ALIVE D:

I love vampires, just not the quite hollywood version of it.. just the beauty of vampires.. eh, hard to explain.

Randall 06-02-2008 10:59 AM

Well, isn't that ironic. I absolutely loathe the vampire race while in video games zombies are #1 on the hit list.

clubanimon 06-02-2008 02:12 PM

Vampire hands down, after all I like the concept of 'self'. Being mindless sounds boring...

Paper Umbrellas 06-02-2008 02:19 PM

Who'd wanna be a zombie?
Vampires are seductive, cool, smooth. >:3

-Tear- 06-02-2008 02:55 PM

I like vampires the best. They are mysterious, seductive, beautiful, and sexy. Plus, they keep their personality.

The only time I really like zombies are in video games.

Sequined Messengers 06-02-2008 08:44 PM

Vampires, all the way.

Reasons: They (are)

Kinky
Ever-young
Beautiful
Sexy
Gothic
Kinky
Sleep in Coffins
Drink Blood
Immortal
Have gorgeous pointy canine teeth
Have massive orgies
And did I mention they were kinky? Because they really are.

Yes, I may be delusional, but I've always found Vampires terrifically sexy.

Knerd 06-02-2008 09:09 PM

I guess I'm strange - I choose zombie.

Why, you ask?
- Brains
- I'm not responsible for my actions. Killing thousands? I'm just a zombie, don't blame me.
- They're never lonely. Zombies always travel in packs, so I know my friends will be there.
- Brains
- It's just a flesh wound. Blow me apart with a hand grenade, and I'll still be able to stumble after you and try to bite your arm off.
- Zombies may be slow, but the people running from them can never get away! They'll always overwhelm you.
- Brains
- I won't have to worry about guys only liking me for my looks.
- I'll get to meet all my favorite celebrities and historical figures, no matter how long ago they died. I'll be able to enjoy my time with them rather than running away and screaming.
- Brains

Firwethien 06-02-2008 09:10 PM

I'd be a vampire I think. Who wants to spend their existence rotting away to nothing?? Course, you wouldn't have a brain, so would you really know? o.O

Fullmetal Phantom 06-02-2008 09:11 PM

I AM a vampire! 8D So my choice should be fairly obvious.

...really that's just a weird little inside joke I have, but still. I prefer vampires.

Zombies give me the creeps for some reason. Probably because...most of the forms I've seen them in were just mindless brain-eating machines. I don't like the mindless things.

Vampires actually think. I like that about them. In my favorite stories, they can even pass for humans at night or on really cloudy days. I like creatures that are almost human. I also love hybrid humans when they're pulled off well, but that's something I'll go off on later.

So yes. Vampires all the way here.

M i n u x e 06-02-2008 09:16 PM

It is a pretty easy decision for me ;P
I would definitely be a vampire. Just because the stereotypes for vampires in shows and movies portray them as being suave, cool, sexy, and seductive! It would be so much fun pretending to be a human and getting into relationships with them!
It's great to get to deceive people like that and not to mention that vampires have amazingly long life spans (although I guess zombies do too).

Shelbyrockin 06-02-2008 09:19 PM

I would be a vampire, so I can still think. What's the point of existing if you're just rotting flesh with nothing to do but eat people?

But I don't want to be those lame "Twilight" vampires, Anne Rice vampires, or people who pretend to be vampires when they're obviously not. I want to be an "Erzebet Bathory" or "Rasputin" type of vampire.

MEH TOO!!! vampires rule....stop stealing my brain -.- XD

_bloodred_ 06-02-2008 09:25 PM

Zombies are gross and out of it, they are just like mindless brain eating machines!

Vampires are more elegant and sophisticated killers!
Vampires are more switched on and more precisely deadly.
Vampires are usually hot and get to hang out in the dark with other hot vampires.
All in all vampires got it pretty good.

Ever since the zombie events on Gaia I've always sided with zombies. Among my friends I always act all sorry for zombies and say they shouldn't be killed and whatnot. Besides, there are soooo many people who are crazy about vampires and just adore them. Zombies need fans too. Vampires already have a huge fanbase. XD

so, if a zombie was trying to eat you alive, you wouldn't shoot it, since that's the only real way to "kill" it, because you'd feel sorry for it?

why would anyone rather be eaten then feel guilty for doing self defence?

that just doesn't make any sense to me. i'd shoot the hell out of it and get it the hell away from me.

i am a vampire.

don't laugh, i really am.
i was born with scaringly sharp canines and i like to taste blood. especially alex's blood, my fiance. everytime he cuts himself my mouth goes straight to it, unless it's a huge cut and i'll suck too much out of him. then it's kinda scary to me.

it's fun to do but make sure you get them tested and get tested yourself if they plan on drinking yours. better safe then sorry.

except i hate the taste of my own blood. it tastes too coppery.

but yeah, for all intents and purposes i am a real vampire.
you can be a vampire without being undead/dead. they're everywhere.
i don't dress "goth" or whatever. i like pretty colors like green and blue(after all, i have a special entitlement to the color blue. it's my middle name :3) i heatstroke if i'm in heat or the sun for more than 30 minutes(anything past 80deg.)
i'm horrendously pale, i sunburn within 5 minutes. i'm a pretty delicate girl. :o

wow.. i need to invite alex over.. thinking about his blood is bothering me a bit :3

Merrow 06-02-2008 10:58 PM

In my mind, zombies are infinetly more scary. Vampires are definetly cool, and they aren't totally mindless, so I might enjoy being a vampire more.

However, if we change the definition of the word "Zombie", then I might choose that. Rather then just being a mindless reanimated body, how about a corpse with a brain? Like... "I woke up... and I'm dead. And I'm eating people. HOLY SHIT."

Or the undead class from world of warcraft.

poet`s playground 06-02-2008 11:22 PM

Doesn't a certain vampire legend actually sort of resemble zombies anyway?

But of course I would prefer vampire. Come on, a girl with sex slaves?

You know, I think they're "stereotyped" that way because part of the legend is that the way that they gain more followers is by seducing them.

The original legend was actually a super-zombie... most vampire legends don't have the "seductive glory" of their modern counterparts.

As someone who adores legends and is... somewhat of a vampire buff, frankly the modern interpretation pisses me off.

There're like, a jillion legends about vampires, so there's not really one specific way of interpreting it..

Yes, but MOST of the older ones depict it as a horrfying, reanimated corpse that wanted to suck out your life force/soul, and was possed by an evil spirit of some sort as a result of improper burial. A lot of legends don't even revolve around sucking blood.... and the legends spread as far from France to China, and I bet in Africa too. Every culture has a reanimated corpse legend of sort, so OF COURSE there isn't a specific way. It just makes me sad that the modern vampire is only seen one way: beautiful and strong, probably 'misunderstood' (angstangstangst). Oh sure, the details may differ (virus or curse, weaknesses, etc.), but it's always the same thing.

The seductive vampire isn't unheard of, but I don't think it really gained a following until Anne Rice... In the physical sense, anyway. Dracula was depicted as ugly but extraordinarily charming. There was probably a story before Dracula, but I'm not sure.

Well, Dracula was more based on a real person who was rumored to drink blood...

But I thought Dracula was supposed to have gotten more physically attractive with the more blood he drank..
