blueblackrose: Volleyball. I wrote something up for it and I can send it to you if you want.
|
Volleyball could be interesting. I'm curious as to how it would work.
|
Okay, I tried to keep things as simple as possible.
The game would use rally scoring. There would be 6 players per team. Offense will score a point on a defense miss or an out. Defense will score a point on an offense miss, an out, or a serve into the net. Each match will play to 25 points. An you have to win by at least a 2 point lead. Each team can only hit the ball 3 times before sending it over the net. And, the same player cannot hit the ball 2 times consecutively. As for how to make the game work, I think using a dice roll will be easiest. On serve: Roll a 50 sided dice. Any number 1-44 is a good serve. Any number 45-50 is a serve into the net. Defense: Roll a 6 sided dice to determine which player receives the ball. That player will roll a 4 sided dice to determine the hit. 1=volley to another teammate, 2=hit over the net, 3=miss, 4=out of bounds. If the player rolls a 1, roll the 6 sided again to determine the next player and they roll the 4 sided again. Offense: Offense play is the same as above after defense rolls a 2.If the second player rolls a 1, the 6 sided is rolled again to determine the 3rd player. The 3rd player rolls a 3 sided dice. 1=hit over the net, 2=miss, 3=out. Once a point is scored the serve is given to the other team. |
That could work, but a match could take a while to play.
Do you guys think I should purchase one or two sets of CIs each month to add to the prize pool? |
I don't think it would take too long. Since to of the actions on the 4 sided dice mean a score for the opposite team. The only thing that might slow it down is if the player whose turn it is, is offline. Maybe, I should just be the one to roll everything?
As far as the CIs, I plan on buying several of each set every month. I will donate a set each month to add to the prize pool if you want have 2 sets, then you only have to put in 1 set yourself. |
Well I'm able to purchase CIs each month as well. So I'll be adding one or two sets of each months CIs to the prize pool as well. I'll probably also be selling a set or two each month to get gold to either use towards purchasing prizes and costs.
jecynecy: As for the game I'm not sure. You could always do a trail run during one of the staff ran events before ours next year. |
This sounds fun. I like the idea of a camp out. I had a great time at this years user run event. Even if I didn't really join in a lot of the games. (no time to make art and the way some of the dice games were done confused me)
Since I know about this so long in advance I wouldn't mind helping out. I might even be able to do a few pieces of art for you guys. Like for headers and what not. |
we'd love to have you on board Nephila!
|
I think it would be good to have some sort of Camp Fire game that could include songs, marshmallows, fireflies etc. Like the host could post pictures and the first one to quote with the correct text could win. Also, the first one to complete the song line of a camp fire song?
And for, like a boat (in canoes?), rowing type of game the dice could be used to determine how far they travel and it could be a race ot the other side of the river or something? It could be out of 100, and each time the dice gives a number that could add to the percentage% of how far across the river you have travelled. I think putting people into teams will be too complicated and I for one am slightly put off games that need teams as they aren't so simple to get on with. As for colours I think green/green/green should be a main one, obviously for the 'nature', 'grass', 'trees' that come with the whole Summer Camp experience. Also, maybe brown for the whole cabin feel and trees once again. And... either blue for water/water sports/water balloons or yellow for sun and summer. Also, I saw on the first page the word 'crafts' so I was thinking maybe an Arts and Crafts session (contest) where users actually make crafts and take pictures of them to submit them to the contest. For example, photoframes made of shells, or a summer decoratio of some sorts? I would love to host any of these type of games/contests if I could. For the Avatar contest as it says on the front page, users could design a 'uniform' for the Summer Camp Helpers. I'm not sure if that was mean by 'outfit'. The swimming avatars could be a Water Raft outfit? Sorry if my ideas suck -.- |
Ok you guys let me know if this makes sense to you all.
So just for example lets says that these are the teams: Team 1 blueblackrose Codette sweet_serender159 WinglessFairy Siti_Hajar Flink Team 2 lunanuova Star Valo Mehimaru ClairVoyant Fake SunShine Angel Spirit Girl So, Team 1 goes first: The 50-sided dice lands on 45. The serve is good. Next: The 6-sided dice lands on 4 The 4-sided dice lands on 2 So Clair Voyant receives the ball and hits is back over the net. The 6-sided dice lands on 1 The 4-sided dice lands on 4 So Codette receives and volleys. The 6-sided dice lands on 4 The 4-sided dice lands on 4 So now blueblackrose has received and volleyed again. The 6-sided dice lands on 2 The 3-sided dice lands on 2 So flink has received and hit over the net. And so on until one team wins. I could just post all the rolls myself or each player could roll their own dice. That would require all 12 people to be online at once though. I may be easier for one person to do all the rolling. |
lunanuova: You're ideas don't suck. They are good I think. You can host the canoeing game.
The crafts would be part of the art contest. As for the colors. I was thinking of blue, green and brown with yellow/gold and white/silver as optional accents. jecynecy: You could still do the teams, but have the game set up where the players take turns rolling for their team so they don't have to wait for the person that they hit the ball to get online and do the next roll. So it would work like this. My changes are in bold red. Quote:
Hey guys I had some free time so I made an example avatar for an outfit using the colors I mentioned above. What do you think? Does it have a summer camp feel to it? http://i54.tinypic.com/2h807py.png |
hmm, I like the volleyball idea, It shouldn't take to long since anyone from a team can roll for for the team, though I'd recommend adding a rule saying people can't roll for the team until two other people have rolled for the team
|
blueblackrose: That looks like it should work best. Thanks for the input! If no one from the team whose turn it is, is online then the host or a helper could roll to keep things moving.
I like the avi you made. I want thinking yellow, green and blue for colors. |
I love the avi, but I love the idea of blue and green for camp colours like jecynecy said... I just really hate yellow -.-
|
i think it's cute as well, 'cept the hat's a tiny bit awkward~

okays how about this? |
ACK! Yellow! *hides in dark corner*
|
Oh come on it's not that bad.
|
can't we turn the yellow into a calm gold?
|
heehee XD
you must hate my skirts then ~ |
I avoid looking at it ^.^'
|
I'm not a fan of yellow either. That is why I went with brown. We could swap the brown for white/silver or maybe orange or something.
Yeah the hat is a bit awkward, but we don't have a white baseball cap. I'd probably end up trading the hat for a hairpin of some sort. |
I love that outfit BBR, I was definitely thinking blue top and brown shorts too!
I'll do some thinking and figuring out of the canoe game to see if I can get my head around it and to see if it would work. Orange is good! |
heeheehee. I can't help the yellow in my skirt, I'm trying to be snow white ^.^
I think i'm going to do something more water-related for my avatar. I'm thinking maybe a Mermaid and a Beach theme for the avatar contest |
@ lunanuova - I'm glad that you like the avi I made.
Let me know. If you can't figure something out for it then you can do the campfire games were people have to quote the pictures. I was thinking of doing that kind of game myself since it wouldn't require as much work. @ Wingless - That is ok, but I'd prefer if you did something that related more to the theme of the event. |
