I have no clue. I know he got younger and stronger, but from what I know, the guy was not a looker.

And yeah, Vlad the Impaler.

Yes, but MOST of the older ones depict it as a horrfying, reanimated corpse that wanted to suck out your life force/soul, and was possed by an evil spirit of some sort as a result of improper burial. A lot of legends don't even revolve around sucking blood.... and the legends spread as far from France to China, and I bet in Africa too. Every culture has a reanimated corpse legend of sort, so OF COURSE there isn't a specific way. It just makes me sad that the modern vampire is only seen one way: beautiful and strong, probably 'misunderstood' (angstangstangst). Oh sure, the details may differ (virus or curse, weaknesses, etc.), but it's always the same thing.

The seductive vampire isn't unheard of, but I don't think it really gained a following until Anne Rice... In the physical sense, anyway. Dracula was depicted as ugly but extraordinarily charming. There was probably a story before Dracula, but I'm not sure.

The part in bold is what I was referring to, mainly.

I have to agree with you there. Vampires seem to be the same thing as succubi nowadays, it seems.

poet`s playground 06-03-2008 01:16 AM

Except that they're usually portrayed still as being male...

Shelbyrockin 06-03-2008 02:34 AM

Which is probably because a lot of the time, it is a girl writing it. Or they're just doing fan service. At least, most of the popular ones with that sort of "image" are. Stephanie Meyer, Anne Rice..Even in manga, there is Matsuri Hino..It's terrible, really. D:

Mekoness 06-03-2008 02:48 AM

I guess that would depend on what type of zombies you mean. XD If we're talking the undead, souless, mindless eating machines then I who would ever pick that over being a vampire? I think I would definitely rather have brain function but hey, who knows right? XD

Insane Cricket 06-03-2008 03:09 AM

If I had to become one, I'd choose a vampire. Why? Because I like the taste of blood. =D

RainbowSuicide 06-03-2008 03:47 AM

dude seriuosly there is no compatition Vampires win hands down, seriously you could ask anyone at my school and house what I would chose and they would all say vampire even people I don't know lol XD

x-AutumnMilrose-x 06-03-2008 03:54 AM

xD Yeah man.

I actually think.. both zombies and vampires are my favorite.
>.> Like, I couldn't pick.

RainbowSuicide 06-03-2008 03:57 AM

lol I could I don't like zombies they have parts of there body falling off, if I saw that I would throw up XD

x-AutumnMilrose-x 06-03-2008 04:01 AM

I wouldn't throw up, I would poke it with a stick then be mortified for the rest of my life.
>.>
xDD

zigbigadorlube 06-03-2008 04:02 AM

To tell you the truth... I absolutely hate both zombies and vampires... T_T

I'm not really sure what we're choosing for either... To be one? Or like be attacked by one? Or which one is cooler in general? I dunno. Either way I'd pick vampires because they're not as gross and stupid as zombies... I really don't like the decaying flesh kinda crap. And vampires are just so cliche... *sighs*

x-AutumnMilrose-x 06-03-2008 04:06 AM

Zigbigadorlube: D: I'm sorry.

RainbowSuicide 06-03-2008 04:11 AM

Doesn't matter who's writing it xP, I was just giving the contrast that unlike succubi the vampires are generally male.

RainbowSuicide 06-03-2008 04:18 AM

....now that I think of it your right O.o wow I guess I was so taken by them I never noticed, well all the main vampires are males some times there a girl or too that might show up in a scene or two for somthing

x-AutumnMilrose-x 06-03-2008 04:54 AM

In the Underworld movie the main character is a girl and shes a vampire.

Succubi are female. Incubi are are male. And generally, I see more succubi... the male variation isn't as popular. As for vampires, there are plenty of female leads, but they're always the "Hardass-assassin-super-vamp-bitch" type. Rough on the outside, until she meets the right human.

And actually, it kind of does matter. Female authors are almost always responsible for the vampire romance nonsense. I'd juat say always, but statistically, I'm sure there's a guy out there somewhere.

Kiri Rose 06-03-2008 12:09 PM

Definitely a vampire. Most of my RP Characters are vampires and that is just because they are awesome. This thread makes me want to create another vampire character actually xD

SerenityLives 06-03-2008 12:50 PM

Welll er...I suppose it would have to be vampires, since for one they're pretty much immortal (and if they do exist they sure are doing a good job of hiding D:)
and besides from the whole sun=burn thing they pretty much live the good life.

And at least I would have all my body parts in tact and not like with gross decaying corpses that is zombies Dx) And If I were a vampire I would probaby have my mind in the right order to- I think I would have to get used to killing people for blood though TT___TT

I'm a lover not a fighter D:

I think the guys are generally more responsible for the vicious vampires...

puppylove#1 06-03-2008 06:53 PM

Vampires! Because they're smexy and Zombies just thirst blood and have no control over themselves while Vampires thirst blood but they do have control over themselves.....and they're smexy. :sarcasm:

Cherry Who? 06-03-2008 06:57 PM

I'd rather be a vampire.
As I'm sure has been mentioned many times, just for the possession of a mind.
It has nothing to do with an obsession for Anne Rice or Stephenie Meyer, I'd just rather not be a mumbling, stumbling, rotting corpse. o_o
